Theology & Leadership Mrs. Schmidt mschmidt@chaminade-stl.org

Theology: It is time to prepare for the semester exam. The final assessment will cover material learned this semester. There will be 8 essay questions which will be given in advance on the study guide. We used the same format last semester with great results. The exam is worth 143 points. Please see Canvas for the study guide. A big thank you to all the parents for allowing me to walk with your son on his faith journey this year. Check homework calendar for items including a 177 point notebook check on Thursday and Friday, May 13 & 14! Leadership: The final keyboarding assessment has already been given. The last project has begun and will serve as the exam grade. Please see Canvas for complete details on the "Campus Ministry Brochure" assignment. It has been a rewarding semester as all students have done well in keyboarding mastery and the application of software to creative and educational projects.

Math

Mr. Winebright awinebright@chaminade-stl.org

MAT 630 – We have entered…the negative dimension! The boys are hard at work as they explore integers and how they apply to the world around them. After handling all four of the operations, we will begin to solve equations over the set of integers, and then bring back decimals and fractions one more time. Be sure to study for your quiz this week, and begin to prepared your binders with all of your notes for the upcoming semester exam. MAT 650 – The equal sign is no more in the land of inequalities! In our penultimate unit, we are working on solving inequalities and graphing their solution sets on the number line while trying hard to remember when we need to flip around the inequality sign. We will conclude the year with a brief unit on the Coordinate Plane before we begin to prepare for the final exam. Study for your quiz this week!

English

Mr. Gauvain tgauvain@chaminade-stl.org

Thanks for a fantastic year (students, parents, and families) … the class of 2027 is a talented, friendly, and fun-loving group of guys … I have thoroughly enjoyed working with these students; stop by room MS-8 for a visit next year … yes, that is correct; Mr. Mug and I are trading rooms for next year. He will get some fancy furniture in MS-2, and I will get a room with windows in MS-8 😊 The study guide for your son's English exam is on his Canvas page.

Social Studies Mr. Mug kmug@chaminade-stl.org

We are wrapping up our Roman Building Project this week. Students will present beginning the week of May 17th. We will practice our presentations in class, but please have your sons present to someone at home in preparation for their in-class presentation. Our final exam will be a project that is due on the day of their scheduled exam. The boys will be asked to prepare an assessment and answer key that covers Ancient Rome (chapters 8 and 9). Details and instructions will be posted on Canvas. Students will be given class time to work on the exam project, but will also need to spend time working on it at home. On the exam day students will finish Roman Building presentations, work on a final lesson, and complete end of the year surveys. Click here for the link to overview of exam project.

Science

Mr. Kelly jkelly@chaminade-stl.org

As we round out the semester, students will be sharing their Endangered Species Projects with their classmates. Students made either a brochure or a website to discuss their endangered species. Each student will then record himself presenting his species and share that with the class as well. The printed brochures will be hung in the 6th grade hallway while the website links will be shared on the 6th Grade Science home page for everyone to view. For the remainder of the semester, we will be discussing Vertebrate animals and reviewing for the Semester 2 Exam. We will have a test over the Kingdom Animalia on Monday May 17 and Tuesday May 18 over this entire unit. The rest of the semester will focus on reviewing for the exam. Lastly, I have sapling trees that I will be giving out to interested students for planting at home. Students can earn extra credit for planting a tree, and information for this project can be found on Canvas. Remember "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second best time is today." Thank you all for a great school year and I hope you have a wonderful summer.

Art

Mr. Anthony manthony@chaminade-stl.org

6th grade artists are currently working with recycled materials and yarn on a sculpture project inspired by the art of Judith Scott. Their final exam will be a reflection essay. They will utilize their experiences – both from formal and informal critiques, short reflections on projects, and daily discussions about what they have learned - to more formally reflect on their art making and creative understanding(s). Excellent growth this semester gentlemen!

Theatre

Mrs. Lawrence slawrence@chaminade-stl.org

Students will round out the semester by exploring the world of theatrical makeup and props. We will present short, prop driven scenes inspired by the props we have here in our prop room at Chaminade! We will also watch a recorded play together in the last days of class. For the final exam in Drama, students are asked to watch a play or musical, and then write a one page reflection on the production. Students can find links to our Chaminade productions from this year on our Final Exam Canvas Module, as well as links to various professional recordings. Students are also welcome to watch a production they have access to at home through DVD, Blu-Ray, or streaming services. We will watch a production in class that students can write about as well. During exam week, our time will be used to write and submit the Production Reflection Paper. Students are welcome to begin this paper before exam week. All information can also be found in our Final Exam Canvas Module. Any questions, please let me know. Thank you for a fun, safe, and exciting year in Drama class!
