Math

Kudos to all of the students who have been doing awesome work in math class. Chapter tests will be the week after spring break. Remember that no work for those chapters will be accepted after the test has been given and that any Problem Set can be resubmitted for more points if you fix the mistakes.
Science

We are now over a week into the unit on the Digestive System. We are learning about the anatomy, physiology, and the common ailments that afflict this system. In addition we have kept a food log and are analyzing the food choices we make and identifying our eating habits. This unit will culminate in a test the week before Spring Break. It will test your son's ability to study, so please encourage them to start studying early! I look forward to chatting with you at P/T conferences.

Latin

Students are now finishing up chapter 8 in the textbook. They will be taking the National Latin Exam the week before Spring Break. Students interested in doing well on this can practice at quiz.nle.org. After break, we will begin a mythology project that should wrap up before Easter break.
Chinese

Unit 5 is about friends, family and pets. The students will learn about their family members and common pets in Chinese. The reading story is Mildred. She is a beautiful horse, but she does not have any boyfriend. What kind of boyfriend does she wish to have and was she able to have one? We will learn how to write family members, pets and how to describe them. More Chinese characters will be taught after Spring break. If students struggle with Unit 1-4 characters, please spend time to memorize them.
French

This month the French students are learning how to say the months, days of the week, and talk about what they do in the morning, afternoons, and evenings---Feel free to quiz them at the dinner table! We just had a quiz over this vocabulary on 3/3. Next up is learning how to say what they "have" by learning the verb AVOIR. By the end of this unit, they will be able to say what classes the like or dislike, when they have classes during the week, and how to ask and give the time in French. Reminder: Every Wednesday, I am here after school for tutoring in MS14. Every Thursday morning, I can be available for tutoring by appointment!

I am excited to return from maternity leave and will be reviewing Leccion 3 from their Senderos textbook. We will be discussing family, possessive adjectives, and common regular AR/ER/IR verbs in the present tense. They will be expected to read, write, and speak Spanish each class in the present, as well as some past tense. After spring break, they will finish the novel Daniel el Detective. In order to prepare for quizzes/tests, they can click on the "Course Resources" button on my Canvas home page. Links to recent teaching videos and Quizlet vocab lists can be found there.

We completed the section on Europe and will be moving on to Eastern Europe and Russia, aka the old Soviet Union. Reminder about Family History projects that are due in April. If someone has not researched you family story before, you might want to seek out family members who have.
Theatre

In 7th grade Drama, we are learning about the fundamentals of stage performance and creating performing art. Next, we will begin working on our first performance project, creating Open Scenes. Students will perform their scenes for classmates live in class.
Art

7th grade visual art students are off to a great start. We are learning more about art, ourselves, and each other in the process. We recently finished a design using our name and are currently critiquing the work together. We will learn more about color theory next. Please remember to bring & have all your materials with you for every class: sketchbook, colored pencils, wooden pencil, & separate eraser. Keep up the good work gentlemen!

Congrats to our February Student of the Month, Greg Rogers! Parent Teacher Conferences are on March 11th. The initial sign up is from 1:00-4:30 and 5:15-7:30. If those slots become full, and we need more time, the 7th grade teachers are prepared to open additional time slots from 7:30-8:30pm.
