Andrew Altic – The best part about Chaminade to me is the teachers that surround the students. Each teacher at Chaminade not only cares for you and looks after you but they take interests in your interests. Coming from public school this was a new and different environment, but I still felt accepted by all of the students and faculty. Thank you Chaminade Huijae An – Chaminade has informed me of the virtue of treating others with integrity and compassion. It was an honor to become a part of Chaminade community and I look forward to influencing others with what I’ve learned through my experience at Chaminade during my collegiate years. John Anthon – Kendall Ausmer – I just want to thank chaminade for the great insight and opportunities they gave me and just the overall knowledge I came from going here. Through these four years I gained so many things from this school like friends for life, understanding the person I am and want to be and learning how to become the best student I can be. So thank you chaminade for everything you've done for me thank you so much. Esto Vir Nicholas Bagatti – Thank you Chaminade for some of the greatest years of my life. It has been a long 7 years, but those 7 years were filled with memories. Memories full of school trips and long bus rides. I still look back and see Mr. O’Shaughnessy throwing frisbees at my friends fondly. Middle school was full of great memories, but the biggest impact Chaminade had on me was in Highschool. First, thank you to Dr. Groovy, Mr. Salaveria, Mr. Keithley, Mr. Corte, Fitz, and all my coaches, you all have made the biggest impact on me. Thank you to all my friends, you guys have helped me make it through high school. The biggest thing I can thank Chaminade for is faith formation, all the amazing retreats, especially Kairos, which I was blessed to lead my senior year. The ability to impact my brothers through faith has been the most special experience of my time at Chaminade. I’ve really grown into a man, I’m sad to leave, but feel prepared for my future. Bye Chaminade, Esto Vir. Jacob Bartnett – Frank Basile – Chaminade has played a key role in aiding in the character-building process, turning boys into young men. Throughout my time at Chaminade I have experienced ups and downs that have shaped me into who I am today. From a rough middle school to some personal issues to understanding who I am and the role I play in our world. The things I loved most about Chaminade are the people, relationships, clubs, opportunities, and the brotherhood. I can firmly say I have met some of the most impactful and important people in my life at Chaminade, from my close friends to my peripheral friends and to my teachers. I want to thank all my friends for consistently killing me with kindness; it has meant a tremendous amount and it has helped me battle some of the toughest things I have had to encounter. Next, I would like to specifically thank Dr. Schmitt who consistently gives me great life advice and Mr. Shaver who not only inspires me to be more in touch with my faith but also offers some of the kindness and most supportive words. I could not be more grateful for the amazing relationships I have created with my friends and my teachers through Chaminade. Next, a club I joined at the end of my junior year was MLC. MLC has offered me something that I would never go search for on my own: difference. The make-up of MLC consists of kids who are all so different and this difference allows for me to gain different perspectives on the world. I would also like to thank Chaminade for the opportunities they provide, most specifically being college credit. Chaminade has made college credit affordable and easy, and it has allowed me and many others to shave off semesters of our college experience. Lastly, and most importantly is the brotherhood. It took me forever to finally understand what this was or what it meant, but when I found it,
it all clicked. Experiencing the brotherhood and camaraderie at multiple Kairos exemplifies a founding principal of Chaminade: family spirit. Cooper Benedict – Chaminade has been my home for the past 7 years and I truly couldn’t imagine my life without it. The relationships that I have formed with friends and teachers is something that I will never forget and will forever be thankful for. The memories that I have made are the best memories I could have ever asked for. From the middle school trips to commentating the basketball and football games my senior year, Chaminade has allowed me to grow intellectually, spiritually, and in maturity. I have grown up from a little sixth grader to a senior in these hallways. When I first came to Chaminade I didn’t know who I was or what I would become but I just wanted to be the most involved that I could in every aspect. I have made lifelong friends at this school and relationships that I will never forget or lose. Whether it was during the middle school trips, the sports teams that I have been apart of, or the countless other experiences that I have had, Chaminade will forever be a home in my life. College is a very daunting stage in my life, but I believe that Chaminade has fully prepared for me to have success academically and athletically. I want to thank my teachers, classmates, and coaches for helping me grow and mature the last 7 years and making my Chaminade experience truly unforgettable. Lastly, I want to thank my parents for allowing me to attend this incredibly school, because it was the best 7 years of my life. While COVID was a bump in the road for my junior and senior year, I firmly believe that I made the most of it and was incredibly blessed with the amount of opportunities I still had at this great school. Jacob Bisch – I want to take this opportunity to thank all my teachers and all the faculty that helped me become the person I am today. The memories I made at Chaminade will hold a special place in my heart. Shane Bolle – Chaminade has prepared me for the next four years and beyond. My favorite memory of the last four years would easily be going on Kairos. This retreat brought me closer to my classmates and thought of them more as family instead of them just being other guys I see in the halls every day. This made the last semester of my senior year so much more than I could have imagined. Chaminade has prepared me for the years beyond college and inspired me to be the best man that I can be Owen Boyette - Chaminade is a school, a community, a person, an idea, but more than anything, Chaminade is a challenge. One that pushes students to find success in a sometimes-chaotic, complex, and unique learning and social environment. Success constitutes many different goals – good grades, good friendships, service to the community, a faith life, and others. In my opinion, crossing the stage and receiving the diploma marks the successful completion of the challenge Chaminade poses. Fr. Ralph, thank you for your time, understanding, and devotion to making Chaminade a more inclusive place. Coach Torrey, thank you for teaching me the value of sacrifice and selflessness. Coach Bennett, thank you for showing me how to be obsessed with success. Coach Schmitt, thank you for your endless belief in me. To every other teacher, faculty, coach, athletic trainer, and staff member, thank you for your time, care, and hard work. Lastly, to the class of 2021, its been quite a ride. Anthony Bradford – I wrote about a page about my experience at Chaminade, but it didn’t feel right, so I’m rewriting it now. I find it extremely difficult to express how I feel about my time at Chaminade. It’s really been a rollercoaster. Sometimes I just can’t get wait to get out of school, but some days I find myself wishing I had spent my time more carefully. I guess it depends on what day you ask me. Even still, I wouldn’t change
anything about my experience. Everything happens for a reason, and I’m happy with how things are going now, even if they’re less than ideal. I thought that I would feel more emotions about leaving Chaminade to be honest, but I think I’m ready. I’ve known this was going to happen for a long time and now it’s happening. It’s partly a relief, but I know my life is going to take a major turn. If I do things right, then things are bound to get better. I really can’t think of anything to say. It is what it is. What will be will be. I have accepted my past and I am accepting my present. My only fear is whether or not I will make effective use of the lessons I have learned while at Chaminade. I hope so. I believe that I can. I don’t know who will read this. If you are reading this, I appreciate you taking the time to do so. These words probably don’t make much sense without knowing my entire story. I guess you could ask me about it if you really want to know, but I don’t think my past is very important; I’m more focused on my future. I guess I’ll leave it at that. Quinn Braeckel – My time at Chaminade has made me very grateful for the many friends and experiences I’ve gained and the man it made me become. th
Matthew Braunel – When I was in 6 grade at Chaminade the seniors in my mentor group told me to make the most of my time here. As it would fly by and 7 years would feel like minutes. I didn’t believe this in the beginning, but here I am a senior, and I can’t believe how fast it has been. I want to thank all my teachers, for providing me with a great education and shaping me into the man I have become. I also want to thank the guys who were once my classmates, who have become my brothers. Chaminade has taught me what it means to be a man of Esto Vir and I am thankful everyday for that. I wouldn’t trade my time at Chaminade for anything. It has been a once in a lifetime experience to be able to do the things Chaminade has allowed for me to do. I know people say college is the best 4 years of your life. In my opinion I do not see how my time at Chaminade can be better then college. It has gotten to the point where I do not just see Chaminade as my school, but my second home. It is a place I can go for anything and either the faculty or fellow Chaminade brothers will always th be there to help. I did not like my 6 grade year, because I did not have any friends. Lacrosse in 7 grade and that is when I found my group of friends that I have been close with since. Finally, I would like to say I am so blessed to be apart of the class of 2021 and will see all my classmates as brothers. Evan Browne – Thank you Chaminade for shaping me into the man I am today. Over the past four years I have developed a family for life. Esto Vir!!! Ryan Buescher – I really enjoyed my time at Chaminade and am going to miss it. I am truly fortunate to have been able to go to school here, and will never forget the memories I made and the great people I met during these past 6 years. Jack Carrow – Chaminade has made a bigger impact on my life than I ever could have imagined. When I got to Chaminade in sixth grade, I didn’t know what to expect. Throughout the years, I have been grateful to meet many students and teachers that I am now very close with. I know that I can always trust these people, whether it be in sports, school, or life. There are countless memories I have made during my time here. Running into the student section after beating Desmet in soccer PKs is something I will always remember, along with all of the educational trips we took in Middle School and High School. Although my time at Chaminade has come to an end, the school and community within it will remain with me throughout college and the rest of my life. Sean Cavanaugh – Chaminade has meant the world to me, but even more so, the people at Chaminade are the reason I am who I am. If it were not for Sam Chiburis agreeing to go to MLC for the first time, I would have never gone. If it were not for Charlie Reed pushing me to join a musical with him, I would have never got on
stage. If it were not for Jimmy Grumich pushing my academic limits, I would have never agreed to take two classical languages at the same time. If it were not for Max Wolkey wanting to be a religious commissioner with me, I would have never applied. If it were not for Patrick Divis making the decision to go to Chaminade, I would have never made the decision. There are countless people that have made my Chaminade experience what it is today, and these are just a few of the examples. The people at Chaminade have made me into the man I am today and will continue to impact my choices into the future. What Chaminade has done in practical terms of setting me up for success in my life is above and beyond what I could have imagined, but what I value more than any of that is the relationships that I have made and the time I have spent here. I would not trade my last six years for anything else. Thank you for everything Chaminade Casey Cavlovich – I am beyond grateful for all the memories that my 6 years at Chaminade has blessed me with. The many experiential learning trips, the sports, clubs, events, and most importantly, the people are what have made this journey what it is. Ever since coming my 7th grade year, the Chaminade brotherhood has been present in everything that happens in the Chaminade community, on or off campus. From the countless times cheering on our classmates as a part of the Red Army, to the school wide never-ending clapping at the end of masses and assemblies, you can feel the special atmosphere that is created through the family spirit that radiates from the Chaminade community. Especially through my time involved with MLC and the basketball program as a manager, I have experienced some of the greatest moments of my life, and these moments have created some of the greatest friendships in my life. Not only has Chaminade set me up to thrive in life after I leave the hilltop, but it has given me the best 6 years of my life along the way, and because of that, Chaminade – the teachers and students who make it the place that it is – will always have a special place in my heart. Esto Vir. Samuel Chiburis – 7 years. In a rough estimate I have calculated that I have spent about 35% of my life as a student at Chaminade. My beginning, however, is much different than the vast majority of Chaminade students as it started when I was a little boy. My earliest memories of Chaminade was watching baseball games on the old grass field while my dad coached, and spending long, hot July days messing around with my brothers while my dad worked the football camp. Those experiences and many more were just the beginning of my Chaminade experience. In sixth grade, I didn’t know it yet, but I met some people that would become lifelong friends. Then more friends came in 7th grade and a few more in 8th grade, then onto high school. As time went on students came and went, but the memories I have will never leave. The class trips in middle school or different shenanigans pulled in class always bring a smile on my face when I think about them. There are too many people at this school that have changed my life for the better, and I am beyond grateful. With all that being said, Thank You Chaminade for all you have to offer and for shaping me to become the man I am today. Adam Cunningham – Often times, people are a reflection of their home. In a literal sense, individuals often reflect the characteristics, values, and personality of their home. In many ways, Chaminade has been a home to me. I am very grateful to have spent six years of my life at a place with many great communal, educational, and overall impactful characteristics. I hope that I can be a reflection of those very characteristics, of the man Chaminade wants me to be, and quite frankly the man the world needs me to be. The people I have crossed paths with here have changed my life for the better, and I am forever grateful for my Chaminade experience. Esto Vir. Patrick Divis – My years from a fresh seventh grader in the middle school all the way to a senior in the high school at Chaminade College Preparatory school has been an unforgettable time for me. The decision was already made for me to go to Chaminade for middle school, but I knew in the end that this was the place I wanted to be at for my next six years. Chaminade has been a catalyst for my own personal growth and
development. I have grown academically; clapping out the lines of Vergil’s Aeneid with Doctor Crutchfield and a legendary Latin community, learning about Chebyshev’s Inequality with Mr. Shaver, and throwing the ball around in Dr. Armon’s class. I have grown in character; attending multiple retreats (more specifically Kairos LXXV), learning and appreciating the task of leadership being a captain for the O’Donnell House, and becoming an MLC core member realizing what faith truly means to me. However, I think the most important to my personal growth have been the relationships that I developed over the years. Teachers feel like peers and friends feel like brothers (shoutout Wavers). The family spirit at Chaminade is not a gimmick, it really exists. These people and this place are integral to the young man I have become. I can honestly say Chaminade is my second home and that I think all of us (whether we like it or not) will miss it a little when we go off to college. Bao Doan – To me, this year has been a very complicated one. Not only that I struggled to keep up with my classes, but also that I had to spend most of my time far away from my friends back in Chaminade. Nonetheless, with the help from my teachers as well as my fellow Vietnamese Chaminade students, I can still feel the family spirit from the other side of the earth, which helped me to push through the troubles and finish the school year on a high note. I am very grateful for everything Chaminade has given to me over the past 3 years, and hope that I can visit the school again in the near future. Esto Vir! Joseph Donlin – In Faith and Reason taught by Mr. Shaver, he brings concepts such as science and mathematics and compares them to our faith. An example of his instruction is the nature of an electron and how it relates to our identities in Christ. Electrons are subatomic particles in which scientists can study either the location or velocity and in knowing one limits our knowledge of the other, but in knowing the location, we can know all the locations it is not. He used this to explain the choices we make and do not make and stated that Christ in his omniscience knows and loves all of it. I use this analogy to relate to my time at Chaminade and how I am incapable of speaking to decisions I have not made, but I choose to speak about the ones I have. The choice to enroll in Chaminade to choose classes, extracurriculars, or sports have all shaped me into the person I am today. In choosing to dive, meeting great people like Charlie Reed, Matthew Noonan, Jake Feise, Anthony Etzel, Coach Mug, and KB I was set with connections and a place to call home inside the pool. Then with the choice to join racquetball, meeting and connecting with teachers Mr. McMenamy and Mr. Massa and teammates Kyle Johnson and Will Higgins. Then I had tennis, meeting Conrad Wendling and Henry Wessel. Three sports which I would choose to continue throughout my Chaminade journey. To continue with this trend, I joined CMG, Men’s Chorus, Spanish club, potter’s guild and most importantly theatre. I made the active choice to participate in as many things as I could, meet as many people, and expose myself to as many environments as possible. But that was only possible through the support of others. With late nights, early mornings, and plenty of long days, the loving atmosphere of the people listed above made the sacrifice worth it. As I continued through my time at Chaminade, I had so many opportunities to grow in knowledge, relationships, and in my faith. I want to thank the many teachers such as Dr. Armon, Mr. Massa, Profe Rosario, and Mr. Laury for continuing to not only challenge me, but to be understanding, caring, and compassionate always. And for dealing with my… well me. I would like to thank my many friends and all who have shown me kindness, but especially Danny Sheehan, Vincent Laury, Logan Miller, Michael Jaeger, Matthew Botta, and Joshua Heidenry for loving me and for providing examples of people I ought to strive to become. Finally, I would like to thank my faith communities, through MLC, LIFE week, through leading many retreats, and the pinnacle of them all being Kairos I want to express my gratitude for all those involved. Faith is one my strongest values and the people within chaminade have strengthened that foundation within me. There was a video I was asked to record that had a semi-cliche line about the definition of family, but cliche or not I, in my loss for adequate words, am
grateful for unknowingly choosing the best family for me… even without knowing the other potential outcomes. I may be sad about leaving, but I have no regret, I have no more words except that I have peace. Jackson Doty – In my reflection I would mostly just like to thank everyone who was apart of my seven year journey at Chaminade. Chaminade has made me the person that I am today, and has prepared me for what's next about as good as anyone could. Chaminade has presented me with experiences that I will remember for the rest of my life. Finally, Chaminade has given me a family outside of my family, when I got here I heard the term brotherhood all the time and just kind of laughed at that, now after seven years, reflecting back I realize how very true that is. Chaminade has allowed me to become friends with/close with people who I will know for the rest of my life, on top of challenging me and allowing me for to enjoy myself. Miles Dressel – Over the past seven years, I knew this day would come. I cannot say thank you enough to Chaminade; I will always be in debt to everything Chaminade has given me. Starting in 6th grade, I remember everyone telling me to enjoy my time and experiences because the next seven years will fly by. I never believed that it would go by so fast, but it did. Chaminade has turned my life around and brought me so much success. I built real relationships with the faculty and staff and student body which I could never get at any other school. I have been able to lead retreats with my friends, travel to El Salvador to help people in need, complete labs in class to widen my knowledge, and join MLC to deepen my faith. The best thing Chaminade has done for me and what makes Chaminade different from any other school is the way how everyone is invested in building your character to become a man. Teachers such as Mr. Shaver, Mr. Massa, Dr. Schmitt, Mr. McCoy, Mr. Mug, and Mr. Keithley have made the biggest impact on my transition into becoming the man I am today. I could never thank them enough for pushing me to be the best I can, helping me with everyday life, and having deep conversations about life which has shaped me into who I am today. I believe that Chaminade has set me up for a life of success. Thank you to all of my brothers for an awesome seven years. Esto Vir! Nicholas Ebert – Chaminade gave me a place where I could learn how to be a man. It taught me how to grow in faith and community and that is something that I will hold on to throughout my college career John Edwards – Chaminade has played a key role in shaping who I am. Throughout my years starting at 6th grade I’ve felt like there was a deep bond between me and my classmates. It has been such an amazing experience that it’s hard to point out one moment that was my favorite. I’ve grown up around my classmates and have seen us grow from boys to young adults. This is something I will hold on to for the rest of my life. Nathan Einig – My six years at Chaminade have been the most formative years of my life. When I joined this school in 7th grade I contemplated whether this was the right school for me as I was not a fan of waking up at 6:30, but after sticking around I can confidently say this was the best decision I have made so far. Chaminade has shaped me to be the man I am today. I have grown in character, knowledge, strength, health, and have been able to strengthen the friendships I have built over the years. Thanks to my friends, teachers, and the staff at Chaminade I have created memories that I will never forget. This school has truly pushed me to be the best form of myself, which will always be something I look back on Anthony Etzel – My time here at Chaminade has been an amazing experience. I have made wonderful relationships with my classmates and teachers. The school has offered many opportunities and has opened new doors for me. Benjamin Farrell – Went for 7 years and had a 5/5 experience. I’d recommend it to anyone and I’d do it all again in a heartbeat Jakob Feise – I cannot thank Chaminade enough for the opportunities that I have been given. From being able to travel to different countries or meet people in the dorms I have experienced so many different views. I have made long lasting friendships, and participated on sports teams that feel like families. They say your Chaminade experience will go fast but sitting here now at the end I realized, it actually did and I don’t want it to end. I wouldn’t trade my time at Chaminade for the world Matthew Gaffner – Chaminade is responsible for the person I am today and wouldn’t be who I am today without Chaminade Michell Gamma – At Chaminade, I was given the opportunity to develop myself through sports, academics, and extra-curriculars. Along the way, I made the best friends I could have ever asked for. Jude Giessman – My time at Chaminade has been some of the greatest years of my life. I’ve met great friends, teachers, and coaches during my 7 years here. Coming in 6th grade was stressful but I found that I made friends very quickly. The sports events were great all throughout, especially Tatum era basketball. Mr. Keithley has been one of my favorite teachers, we had a great 3 years of mentor group. Mr. Keithley has been a mentor, teacher, and friend through high school. I believe after 7 years, I learned to live out ESTO VIR. I’m sad to see my time come, but the memories and friendships I’ve gained will never be forgotten. Jacob Gisi – My time at Chaminade has shaped me into the man that my parents and I hoped to be. My parents could have made the decision to send me anywhere else, but they saw what I had experienced having only spent one day at Chaminade and it was a no brainer for all of us. I couldn’t have been happier with the decision we made. I have friends that are more like brothers that have helped me more than they could ever know. I owe everything to Chaminade! Alexander Gladson – My time at Chaminade was a great experience. In school and out of school I have memories with these guys that I will remember forever. I would not trade these four years for anything Carson Glynn – My experience here at Chaminade will be something I will never forget. The relationships you build here at Chaminade are something you will get nowhere else. I would always hear about the brotherhood at Chaminade, I never really understood it until my first day of school. There is a vibe at Chaminade that makes you want to come to school so you can be with all your friends. My favorite memory at Chaminade is being back to back district champs in football. All the memories here at 425 Lindbergh boulevard will never be forgotten. Ryan Gray – My time here at Chaminade has been one to remember. At first, it was hard coming from a different school and not knowing anybody but when I first got here, I was welcomed like I've been here since middle school. From freshman year to now, the friendships made and brotherhood I have been a part has made the time here memorable and I'm going to miss my guys, brothers 4L Sean Green – Looking back on my time at Chaminade I think about all the friends that I have made. I came into Chaminade freshman year only knowing a decent number of guys, but this was never a problem. Looking at all the homies I have today because Chaminade I couldn’t be more thankful
Robert Grumich – My 7 years at Chaminade is a time I will look back on and cherish forever. I am forever indebted to the teachers at Chaminade who are responsible for my intellectual and spiritual transformation. Dr. Armon, Dr. Crutchfield, Mr. Shaver and Mr. Keithley have left an indelible mark on me as a student and I am eternally grateful for their influence. The Chaminade brotherhood has proved itself more than just a motto and has left me with friends I will cherish forever. There are countless memories I will retain from Chaminade like winning back to back district championships in football or attending Youth and Government. However, the smell of walking into Chaminade in the morning, the countless hours passed at football and baseball practices and listening to Dr. Crutchfield bring up Proto-Indo-European will soon be things I can never get back. Yet, the one relic I cannot lose from my time at Chaminade is myself. The memories and friendships I acquired from Chaminade may come and go but the impact Chaminade had on me will last forever. I would not be the person I am today without Chaminade and I wouldn’t trade the innumerable hours I spent at Chaminade for the world Matthew Guehring – Pedro Gunther – Chaminade was a very fun school to go. This was a formative time in my life, and I couldn’t imagine spending it somewhere else. All the students and teachers here have had a good impact on me, and even though I may not show it, I’m grateful for everyone around me. This school has not only taught me the necessary subjects to further my education in the college of my choice, but it has also shaped my behavior and social skills. In the past 4 years, I’ve matured quite a bit, and it’s been a journey that wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be going in as a freshman. I was a little worried it would be hard to fit in because I hadn’t gone here in middle school and didn’t know anyone. Fortunately, the faculty and other students were quick to make me a part of this community that I can now call home. I know that moving on into adulthood, I’ll be able to succeed in many aspects of my life, and I’ll have Chaminade to thank. Kenneth Hammell – My time at Chaminade has been filled with many activities, drama, cross country, track and field, helping to lead retreats, masses, prayer services, and doing service in the community. These activities were all great to put on a resume for colleges, but they will never understand the why behind the importance of each activity. They will never get to hear the laughs, see the smiles, or feel the joy that I got to share with my Chaminade brothers each day throughout my four years in high school. But that’s alright because our class, our family, will all keep those things to themselves, cherishing them as I know I will. Michael Hanon – One of my favorite memories at Chaminade was beating Desmet in pks to win the MCC conference. I had many great memories over the years, but soccer has always brought out the best in them. I am thankful to be apart of the team and will have many of my friends here for life. Although the education is top tier, I believe that was not the most important thing I received at Chaminade. I believe that the most important thing I received at Chaminade was the relationships and bonds I formed with my Chaminade brothers and teachers. It is incomparable to anything else I have done
in my life. The teachers really care about you here. Your classmates really care about you as well. Whether it was someone you wanted to just have a fun conversation with like Mr. Black, Owen Boyette, Max Braunel, Jack Guyot, or Dr. Barnidge or someone who challenges you both academically and personally like Dr. Schmitt, Miles Dressel, or Mr. Massa, it is just a special place. The phrase “Esto Vir” to me as I walked into Chaminade as a freshman was just our school motto. It just meant, “Be a Man”. As my days at Chaminade are coming to an end “Esto Vir” to me means so much more. It is a life motto. It will remind me of all the great memories I have had. Playing four years of soccer with CCP across my chest will always be up there for me. Playing two years in one of the most respected basketball programs in the country will as well. Some of my best memories created by Chaminade are: Playing golf with some buddies on a Friday then going to the pack the Don, Freshmen basketball, Saturday MCC Soccer Games in the Red Army (or on the bench for my last two years), Silent Night Basketball games, Going to school with my cousin, Z, for four years, Mentor group (303 always), being co-stars with Dean Chibs in the house show, and of course, winning the House Cup Senior year. Easily my favorite day in my Chaminade career. The amount of fun everyone had that day was nuts. Something I will never forget. Notice how I said nothing about school in any of those memories? Chaminade is not just a school. It is a community and family that I was/am very lucky to be apart of. Again, Thank you Chaminade. Esto Vir. Zachary Helmsing – Thank you Chaminade for everything you have done for me. I have been attending Chaminade since the sixth grade, and I have made so many memories and friendships I will carry on for the rest of my life. Chaminade has taught me to be a man and has prepared me for the next stage of my life. There is nothing like the Chaminade family, and I know I will always have something to come back to in my life William Higgins – I am blessed to have been able to have the opportunity to attend Chaminade. I made friends and memories that I will never forget Joseph Hipskind – When I first got started at Chaminade, I heard so many people telling me that the next four years would go by quicker than I could possibly imagine. This always seemed to go in one ear and out the other, however, and I never really thought much of it until I reached my final weeks as a Chaminade student. As I’ve looked back at my time at Chaminade during the final few weeks of my senior year, I’ve realized just how many ways the school has impacted me and how it’s all gone by in a blur. I came to Chaminade to receive a quality education, and I most certainly did, however Chaminade has impacted me in many more ways than academically. I’ve made close relationships that I’ll cherish for a long time with people that I never would have expected to be close with before I started at Chaminade. I will never forget the sense of brotherhood I’ve felt with fellow students at Chaminade and the faculty members that have shown me how to be a good person and completely changed my outlook on life. I received a great education at Chaminade, however it’s the sense of brotherhood and the insightful faculty members that have inspired me to grow as a person that have made my time at Chaminade a remarkable one. Bryce Hobart – Chaminade has helped me so much on my journey to becoming a man. During my time here I have been able to improve in the classroom and as a person. When I first started out here, I remember being nervous because I didn’t know many people, but after the first week everyone was so welcoming, and I learned what family spirit really was. I have also been so well prepared for college not only with the college credit but the class structure and teachers and classes as well. I know that I will miss the time I have spent here but Chaminade will be a part of me for the rest of my life.
Kieran Hobart – When I came to Chaminade for high school, I knew one person, and by the end of the first year, I felt like I knew everyone. Everyone is so open to each other and the feeling of brotherhood is always there. Not only the students, but the staff as well; everyone cares about us and wants us to succeed Conrad Hogenkamp – I feel that being a student at Chaminade has shaped me in numerous ways. I feel that I’ve developed a deeper understanding of community and what it means to be part of one. Throughout my years I’ve had the privilege of enjoying the company of many fantastic individuals who challenged me to be the best I can be. I am deeply appreciative to my coaches and teachers who further challenged me to pursue athletic and academic excellence and to work hard in everything that I do. Chaminade has give me the opportunity to experience challenges and make lasting friendships and for that I am incredibly grateful. Kevin Howard – I enjoyed my time at Chaminade and am very grateful for the great memories and friends I have made. I cherish most the time I spent playing Chaminade hockey with my brothers. Nicholas Imo – I started my time at Chaminade when I was just eleven years old going into sixth grade. I remember always wanting to attend this school because all of uncles who were alumni. They all talked highly of Chaminade and had such fondness for this place. As a senior I realized why my family had such love for this school. I have made great friends that are like brothers to me, have had great teachers, and took place in amazing experiences such as the swim team, class trips, and Kairos. I’ve been challenged with schoolwork that will only prepare more for college. So many memories and fun movements have happened at this school and can’t believe it is coming to end. Overall, I am grateful for my time at Chaminade as it truly is a highlight of my life. Mark Jackson – My time at Chaminade has gone down as an unforgettable moment in my life. There were ups and downs, but in the grand scheme of things, I enjoyed every moment. From the students to the teachers. Even the janitors were fun to communicate with. I gained lifelong bonds that will never be broken and memories I will remember for the rest of my life. And being one of the only black students to go from 6th-12th grade, I think I can say I made the right choice in a school that will build me as a man and a student. Rollin Jackson – Thank you so much for the past 4 years. When I say this, I mean it, I would not trade my time here for anything in the world. The experiences we have had, have not only brought us closer as a class, but have also developed us into being the men that the world needs for today, tomorrow, and every day after that. We will be able to change the world if we put our minds to it. We have had our fair shares of ups and downs throughout our time here. From our last block on a Friday chants, our tailgate on the old tennis courts, our first Friday night lights game freshman year where we all painted ourselves red, this journey has been one for the history books. I will never forget this class and this school, as you all will always hold a special place in my heart until the day I die. Never forget that you have a place to call home on 425 S. Lindbergh, and men to not only call your friends, but your closest brothers, no matter what you do or where you go in life. We have bene through it all this past year, but in the end, we came out on top. Because of you all, my life has forever been changed for the better. Esto Vir my guys. Cameron Jacoby – Ryan Jenks – I am not sure what to really say fellas… I have been putting this off for weeks and weeks (sorry about that!). Just because I don’t know what to say. It's been a weird year, or I should say a weird couple of. years. Ever since I got here, I knew that this class was, is, and has been crazy, fun, and connected over the years. While lots of us have butted heads, I know deep down we all very much care and believe that we are a family.
The true proof we’d need could easily be seen through our senior year during the Covid Pandemic. However, there are many other moments. For myself personally all the mentor groups with Dr. Barnidge, Jacob Lowe, and Henry Wessel. Others could be with my own brother Kenneth Hammell. Coming back to my home for a swim then going to a football game. Then I ran my freshman and senior year with my compadres Manny Nava, Anthony Bradford, Seth Hadlow, Nathan Einig. Running or mostly Jogging through all the pain. Then there was the time I had taken a plane ride over the Pacific Ocean with my good friends James Lynn, Ben Farrell, and Mitch Gamma. With them having many crazy and wild adventures in Melbourne Australia. The crazy engineering classes with Kyle Johnson, Nick Ori, Ryker Lott, Adain Jenson, Nick Imo and Peyton Kendall. I couldn’t forget all the crazy musical numbers I have run with Joseph Dolin, Anthony Petersen, and Stephen Weadon. Truly this place has become a home for myself, and I would assume all of you! I really don’t know what else to say other than thank you! Thank you for all the memories, the good and bad. Thank you for all the fun and sad times. Thank you, classmates I will miss, you are all so very much. Thank you all for being you Aidan Jensen – I couldn’t be more thankful that I had the opportunity to go to Chaminade. Chaminade made me the man I am today. I will never forget the place where I could figure out the things I love and get set up on a path that would guide me to success. I am so thankful that I got to get close with the amazing teachers I took class with. These teachers are the people who shaped me and allowed for me to develop my gifts and talents. Thank you Chaminade. Amar Johnson – Chaminade was very fun. It made me a man. I learned a lot of new things, as well as made a lot of close relationships that i will continue to have in the future. Esto Vir. Jack Johnson – It is hard to believe that I have been at Chaminade for 7 years. Over my time at Chaminade I have been fortunate to have wonderful teachers and meet many different people. As I entered Chamiande in the sixth grade it was a large transition from my elementary school. I only knew a handful of people but quickly made friends and started to make lifetime memories. As I progressed through the years I was fortunate enough to be given many opportunities to take advanced classes and I thank Chamiande for the many opportunities that I was offered. I was able to try out many different sports and interests and now as a senior I can reflect on the many opportunities that I was given and wish that I had been more involved. In the last year I have had many significant moments that have proved to me the special bond that we share as a class and how much Chaminade means to all of us. As we transitioned back into in-person learning, we were forced to deal with harsh realities but persevered. The most significant moment of my Chamiande career has to be Kairos. During kairos I felt that my bond with my classmates strengthened more than I could have imagined. The struggles that people have faced and the kindness that I witnessed proves to me that our Chaminade class has a strong bond that will carry with us into college. All I can do now is think back to the great times that Chamiande has offered me and be thankful for the many opportunities I have been given. Spending my last days at Chaminade I know that I will forever miss my time here and at the same time have the confidence to succeed in college. Kyle Johnson – Karthik Kanumury – Thank You Chaminade for the last six years that I have been here. It was a second home to me. I loved every moment of it and loved winning the house cup back to back graduation years. Go Red Devils. Peyton Kendall – Chaminade has been a great place for me to grow as a man. I feel that in the future, the first thing that will come to mind when I think of Chaminade is how welcoming the Chaminade family is. It took me
a while to realize, but the faculty will always be there for you, even if you don’t realize. I know that if I will come back to visit in the future, I will want to thank these teachers again. Teachers such as Mrs. Young, Mr. Gilfoil, Mr Fitz, Mr .Viviano, Doc Wilson, Mr. Salveria, Smuprh, and many more made my Chaminade experience as great as it was. I also much mention how great the community of students is at Chaminade. Joining the cross-country and ultimate frisbee teams has led me to meet some of my best friends during my time here. Daniel King – There are some things at Chaminade I will never forget for the rest of my life. The charismatic teachers, the brotherhood between classmates, and the mango scented bathrooms just to name a few. I spent the last 7 years of my life here and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, making friends I hope to have for the rest of my life. I hope one day my kids become Red Devils and get to experience everything I did. Special shoutout to counselor, Mr. Sartori, and Mr. Vlahutin for putting up with me all this time and seeing me through till the very end. Ryan King – Chaminade taught me how to be authentic and develop true friendships for a lifetime. I am thankful for all the teachers that challenged me into becoming the best student I can be. I had a great experience and will miss the lunches. Adam Koetting – During the past four years, I’ve experienced both ends of the spectrum of joy. Whether I was happy or sad throughout the ever-changing years, the one thing that remained constant was my Chaminade family. No matter what I went through, both my friends as well as the faculty were there for me. I firmly believe I will remain friends with many of those who I have met at Chaminade and no matter what happens, I will have Chaminade as a home for the rest of my life. Kyle Korando – In my seven years at Chaminade it’s been quite a journey. I met a lot of people along the way, some being my friends to this day and some not as much. Chaminade has been an experience for the better and I’m glad to have gone here in my time of high school. David Kruse – my time at Chaminade has personally been very odd. I would label myself as a socially awkward extrovert where I want to go meet people and try new things, but I get all up in my head and don’t actually know how to get through those situations. Chaminade however kind of threw me into the deep end. My brother who also went here had a friend on the racquetball team and that friend ended up just signing me up for it basically before the club fair thing. Never in my life did I think I would do and enjoy theater but one of my fellow freshmen was scared to audition and asked me, someone he only knew through one class if I would audition with him. And while I did not get into that show it gave me some confidence to come back and audition next year. Then pole vaulting while I did it by my own volition, I did not think I would ever get so go at it so quickly. These pushes did not stop freshman year however sophomore year I was able to find friends to play online games with something that I had been trying to do since middle school. I was also able to find my first D&D group which was something I had wanted to do scene 7th grade. Junior year I had decided that I was going to join a senior physics class where somehow, I got to experience being the smart kid for once. Then senior year out of recommendation I had led one of the biggest and most impactful retreats Chaminade can offer. So overall this has been an amazing experience that has pushed me out of my comfort zone allowing me to learn and experience many new things. Kevin Kuehl – Chaminade has been a school that has allowed to me explore new interests and guide myself into becoming a man for the future. I feel prepared for next year and confident in my ability to succeed not just
in college, but years beyond that. I am grateful and proud to say that I have been and forever will be a Red Devil. Chancellor La Point – I went to Chaminade when I was 6th grade and struggled at first to make friends like most of the people in my class. I Frequently was challenged at Chaminade during my 7 years here. I found out that all of the struggles and angry times were good for me because they helped me to grow. I do feel that Chaminade breeds success and that is what makes the difference between us and other schools. Nikita Lakhin – Chaminade was a great experience for me, I came here knowing nothing and learned a lot in these three years. Thank you Chaminade for everything you have done for me. Phuc Le – My time here at Chaminade has been great, started during my junior year and built a good relationship with a lot of fantastic people. All my friends have taught me what it truly means brotherhood. I would like to thank all my teachers from the bottom of my heart, every faculty and staff member that have made Chaminade a special place in my life. I will never forget the experience when I'm in the swim, football, and volleyball team. Either we won the District finals or made it to fourth place in states. The dorm has also been a very special place for me, living in the dorm makes me feel like you're at home. I would have my special thanks to Mr. Marsek for helping me out with all the difficulties when I first arrived at Chaminade. I would like to appreciate all my friends for giving me the best experience at Chaminade. Chaminade has not only turned me into a good person, but they have shaped me into a man, getting ready for any challenges ahead. Thank You, Esto Vir! Ryker Lott – When asked to reflect on my career at Chaminade, many things come to mind. From the many retreats and class trips, to the house events, I would not trade my time at Chaminade for anything else. I have not realized how valuable my time was at Chaminade until now, as I begin to reflect on the great friendships and memories made. Though my journey at Chaminade is coming to an end, I shall continue to live out Esto Vir being the best selves we can be. Thank you, Chaminade. Ryan Lottes – I came to Chaminade seeking out a strong education to prepare me for a good college, but as we reach the end, I realize that I only stayed because of the people in my class. Some of the best memories I have had is because of the people in my class. In my opinion, it isn’t the education program that makes Chaminade special, it’s the students that attend here Jacob Lowe – Chaminade was fun. I never felt like I fit in and that’s not to say that Chaminade was bad or I was cast out. I say that to bring light to the idea that while Chaminade was fun and helpful I just don’t feel like it helped me with what I wanted to do with my life. I enjoyed the culture and all the events my five years there and I do feel the brotherhood of Chaminade. I just felt that I don’t fit in due to how I process things and what it is I want to spend my life doing. However it was fun and I look forward to graduating with my friends. James Lynn – In the past 7 years at Chaminade, I have grown into a completely different person. I entered the 6th grade as a shy kid with a bowl-cut, and have grown into an outgoing leader ready for University. I actively tried to squeeze as much experience as I could from Chaminade. It led to travel to places like the Grand Tetons, London, and Melbourne. In my upperclassmen years, I had the privilege of being an MLC Core Member, Student Leader of Kairos 75, Cross Country Captain, and Water Polo Captain. I have made countless memories at Chaminade and have made countless friends that I will hold onto for the rest of my life. I know that Chaminade will always be my home and always a family I can turn to. I will forever be grateful for Chaminade.
Markus Marshall – My time at Chamiande has made me into the person that I am today. The long nights early mornings, gave me discipline and the knowledge of how to work hard. I would not trade my experience for anything in the world. I will miss Chaminade, and everything it gave to em. Enjoy your years at Chaminade, because it goes fast, and you will look up and be a senior wondering where time has gone. Chamiande made me build true friendships that will last a lifetime. I am a red devil for life. Thank you Chaminade. Alessandro Mattina – My time at chaminade has flown by. Was one of the most formative years of my life i’m very grateful for. Anthony Mazzola – Alexander Miller – My time at Chaminade has felt like a short one, but yet it has been the steadiest part of my life. Starting in middle school with he cray things that we would do as a class, like singing Spongebob Square Pants in the 8th grade stairwell, I look back and think about how every middle schooler wasn’t given a Saturday every day. While in high school we are constantly pushing and striving for academic and athletic excellence. I will never forget what the place has done for me, whether that is just someone holding the door for me or turning me into the person I am today, I will always be grateful for it. Akash Nandakumar – Chaminade has been a quite a bit of a journey for me. There have been so many ups and downs and somehow I always heard just what I needed to hear at the time. I remember in 6th grade being with my friends at the time Shane Lobster, Joseph Onder, and Nick Bagatti, going around campus to teachers and getting candy or a treat just like Halloween, and then staying up to 4:30 just hanging out at the creek down cemetery lane. I remember that winter I slipped end fell into the cracked ice of that creek, and my friends being there helping me get myself back together. After that year, my friend group faded away, but I was still great friends with Joseph. I have made so many great connections and friendships here with teachers and fellow classmates that have helped me out on my journey here. Mr. Dailey and Fitz were always there just to talk, and Dr. Groovy always put me in my place, Mr. Pendleton always encouraged me to forge my own path in life, and Mr. Jones and Mr. Hahn consistently helped teach me how to properly be involved in a real community. Mr. Christian is always there to remind me that I am loved, and Coach Bennet always had faith that I would be able to reach great lengths. Mr. Arendt and Dr. Barnidge helped learn to stick to my ideals and to fight for my beliefs, and Mr. (I like to call Dr.) Shaver helped me stretch and strengthen my theological beliefs, even though I am not Christian. Mr. Gilfoil has been great at supporting everyone and being a good friend, and Coach Ellis was great at reminding me of the issues in the bigger picture (Is the Amazon still burning? Yes). I will miss spending every ac lab, talking to Mrs. Kaiser and Mr. Viviano in the counselors office. I will miss passing by Mr. McMenamy asking him how the Lego Robotics team is doing, even though he hasn’t coached it in 6 years. I will miss talking about crocheting with Ms. Bryant. I will miss seeing kids in the band hallway every afternoon practicing, and seeing theater kids hanging out downstairs in the skip. I am going to miss seeing Anthony Petersen in the art room creating fabulous works. I have created so many strong friendships here, and I think Chaminade really is a family. One thing I have noticed is that the people that participate in things here, tend to appreciate it more. Chaminade and life are all like the vending machine that Mr. Dailey talks about. The more you put in, the more you get out. Thank you to everyone at Chaminade for making this experience as great as it possibly could have been. Peace. Manuel Nava – I enjoyed my time at chaminade very much. Teachers and friends both provided me with a welcoming community. What I most enjoyed was my time running track and cross country. I will be forever grateful to this institution for everything it has done for me.
Duc Nguyen – Chuong Nguyen – I’m forever grateful for Chaminade. I became a member of this large family 4 years ago. I am who I am today thanks to the teachers and friends. Chaminade has been a big part of my life and has played a big role in defining my personality. I learned that Chaminade community will always help you regardless of your background or nationality. From endless memories to valuable friendships, I will carry what Chaminade has given me and continue to develop myself to become the person that society needs Matthew Noonan – Overall, I have enjoyed my time at Chaminade. I joined in 9th grade knowing a few people here, but I mostly made new friends at Chaminade. I didn’t join much my first year but being on the swim team and going to state freshman year was a great experience. I gradually started to join more things and do more activities, and I met more and more people along the way. I also feel like I received a great education here. I have tons of college credits going into college, and I believe that Chaminade has prepared me well. I know that I will always cherish the time I spent as well as the friends that I made while attending Chaminade. Joseph Onder – My time at Chaminade was great. Going from 6th grade to 12th grade was a great journey. I made great friends, learned a lot in classes, and I have grown closer to Jesus Nicholas Ori – I appreciate all my classmates and faculty that I had the pleasure of meeting during my seven year ride. It was an amazing time that I’ll never forget! Jacob Parcel – My time at Chaminade has helped me so much in becoming the man I am today. I have met many friends and brothers here, and my teachers have all been amazing. They helped me to learn even the hardest subjects, and they inspired me to learn as much as I can. I would not be the same without Chaminade, and I am grateful I was able to attend. Simon Peistrup – I greatly enjoyed my time here at Chaminade and am grateful for the friends and memories that I have made along the way Anthony Petersen – I have definitely got to say that Chaminade has become my better home than even my real home. I have spent more time here on campus than anywhere else due to how much I just enjoyed being involved here and because I carpooled with Mr. Bangura so I couldn’t leave until he did. I was here almost every day even during the weekends, working with Mr. Z, to the point where I know this whole campus inside and out. Honestly, Chaminade should have offered me a dorm room for how much time that I spent here, sometimes until eight o'clock at night, but we don't talk about it. Anyways, in this home that I've become a part of, I've also made sub-families within this expansive family such as my Chaminade theatre family, my AP Spanish family, or my French II family to name a few. These families became my everything. They were the reason I would love to come here; the reason I would wake up with hope. They were and are my true family. They are the ones I would die protecting and the ones I know who would come to help me. I have spent a great amount of time here forging unbreakable bonds with my classmates and teachers. Bonds that I will take with me throughout my entire life, or so I hope. These families of mine, these companions that I've cultivated are my inspiration. They challenge me to be authentic, to be emotional, to be me, and to keep pursuing my dream. So, to do right on them I will continue to be authentic, emotional, and myself. I will continue to pursue my dream: to inspire, to be passionate, to inspire passion. I hope that I was an inspiration here at Chaminade even if the impact was minuscule. Knowing that I made even a scratch on this place that has allowed me to evolve into the person I am today is enough to keep me going. Enough to make me pursue my dream with more fervor. I hope to be an instrument of passion through God which I believe God will definitely help me do. I can't wait to be
one of God's instruments that will try to sow peace in my own way, in my own expression of my self. It's been quite the journey to get here; I've been through my own version of hell and back billions of times. I got through it all because of my home, Chaminade. My safe haven. With that in mind, I also must thank Chaminade for becoming my home. Without it, I wouldn't have made it this far: I wouldn't be the artist I am without the challenges that Mr. and Mrs. Laury gave me, I wouldn't be as sassy or confident as I am without Mr. Z as an example, I wouldn't have begun to learn to love myself more without the love I have been given by my friends here, in particular, Profe Menshouse, Mademoiselle Gruchalla, Profe Rosario-Rouse, Stephen Wheadon, David Kruse, and quite a lot more. They are my saviors, my witnesses to how much I have grown. I love them with all my heart, and I wish I could fully express how much gratitude I have for them. Thank you all for receiving me with open arms and a compassionate heart. Now, I just can't believe that my time is up at Chaminade. Oh, what I wouldn't give to relive it all, but I have to move on. I have to grow so that I can share the love I attained here with more people. I am going to have to leave my home, but I know that I can always come back when I need or want to (or so I hope; you better let me visit, Chaminade). It's quite a bittersweet feeling, but I'm proud of how far I've gotten with this place. Now, it's just time for me to expand my growth even more. Time to say a final farewell as a Chaminade student. Not to be unexpected, every year I spent here got just a little bit better culminating in senior year. Even with the limitations of the pandemic senior year was still my favorite. I was given the chance to have a proper senior year thanks to Chaminade and I am grateful for it. The memories I have from mentor group this past year are endless. Everyday held a new surprise because everyone was excited to be there. Being able to work on the house show was also a blessing. Just knowing that the whole school tuned in to watch that video still makes me smile. I enjoyed my time playing water polo, taking part in MLC, and broadcasting sports games. And the list of teachers I have to thank for turning me into the person I am now is too long, but I’ll name some names anyway. Thank you, Dr. Schmitt, Mr. Keithley, Mr. Corte, Mr. Schaaf, Dr. Densford, and Fitz for what you did, for how you shaped me. Thank you for pushing me to lead Kairos Fitz, probably my favorite memory during my time at Chaminade. I’m impressed, impressed by the quality of what I was given: the trips, the education, the maturity in faith, and the people I was able to meet. During these last few days, I’ve been walking from place to place a bit slower and taking in my final moments around the campus. I’m going to miss it, but I’ll probably be back at some point. Esto Vir used to mean nothing to me. It used to be some slogan that was in Latin for some reason and nothing more. I get it now, I understand the importance, I think all the seniors do. There’s no group of men I’d rather graduate with. I wish you all the best Edward Prevost – Chaminade has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have made a lot of great friends and fun memories. Chaminade has prepared me for whatever comes and has made me into the person I am today. Quinn Prosser – The past four year that I’ve spent at Chaminade have been some of my favorite years yet. Coming here as a freshman I was scared to be in this new environment without anyone I knew. My feelings of fear and anxiety quickly washed away as I was met with the brotherhood here at Chaminade. This school has taught me to be a better student, friend, son, and overall man. Esto Vir. William Pudlowski – I would like to thank Chaminade for the past 4 years, which have been some of the greatest of my life. I’ve made so many great memories and friends over these 4 years that will be with me for the rest of my life. I’m grateful for how much my parents sacrificed to get me to where I am today, without them I don’t know where I would be. Thank you to Chaminade, I appreciate everything you’ve given me.
Andrew Qi – Chaminade is the experience that made me to be a more matured and educated young man. Alexander Rackers – Charles Reed – Thanks for the memories Quin Rizer – Chaminade pushed me to be the best person I could be. I was always pushed by teachers, classmates, and coaches to do the best work I could possibly do, and I know that I am better off because of this experience. It really wasn’t even until my last week of school started, when everything was coming to a close, that I realized just how much Chaminade means to me. There is something just comforting about talking to great teachers and students in the hallways, going to small, tight-knit classes, and even just hearing the three o’clock prayer everyday on the speakers. I am disappointed to know, from witnessing these special events as an underclassmen, that there were likely experiences that were robbed from our class by the pandemic. However, I still think that bond that I have to all of my Chaminade brothers is as strong as ever. There are simply too many incredible faculty members that had a profound effect on me, but some that come to mind are Mr. Bob Murphy, Mr. Steve Murphy, Mr. Hahn, Mr. Jones, Dr. Armon, Mr. Corte, and of course, Mr. Z. I played in bands, hockey teams, debated, travelled, and cheered with my 2021 class, and I just hope that I can stay connected with the school and those who make it special. Cole Ross – Kellen Rossiter – I will miss the dedicated faculty and brotherly atmosphere. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that my high school classmates and teachers would be among my closest confidants. Chaminade truly is a special place where boys become men. The rigorous academic curriculum has prepared me well for not only college but the rest of my Esto Vir journey. I would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Fitz, Keithley, Burdge, Murphy (both), and lastly Dr. Karcher for pushing me to be my best. Timothy Ryan – There’s no other place I would have rather spent the last 7 years of life, than Chaminade. It’s home. I walked in those doors 7 years ago as a boy and I’m leaving a man. I was always told that “your time here will fly”, and while I listened, I never really believed it till now. It felt like yesterday that I was in sixth grade, navigating my way through the halls. I can’t believe it’s over. This place is special, from the faculty, to the students, to the athletics and academics. There’s nothing like it. I have gained countless friends, both students and faculty, who I will have for the rest of my life. Even though I’m leaving, Chaminade will always remain a part of me. Terrell Saddler – Christopher Sandifer – People say that it’s the beginning and end of things that seem the most significant. I remember the beginning of my time at Chaminade like it was yesterday and though I don’t feel much bigger than I was then, everything else has gotten a lot smaller. I’ve learned many things at Chaminade but mostly I learned what not to do and I learned it by doing it first. What else is there to say? The debt I owe to faculty members from Mr. Corte to Mr. Jones is immeasurable and I know that every student who has had the good fortune to take their classes feels the same way. Chaminade gives its students more opportunities than they either deserve or know what to do with and that is what makes it an irreplaceable educational experience. Thomas Schenk – These past 4 years at Chaminade have pushed me to become an all-around better friend, brother, son, and student. I don’t believe I would be where I am today if it weren’t for the faculty and the culture
of Chaminade. I will be heading off to college in good graces with lifelong friends and the best experience of my life, and because of Chaminade, I am very hopeful for what the future will bring. Mark Scott – To my classmates - We came to Chaminade as boys and left as men. Those untainted and innocent sixth graders became seasoned leaders and outstanding young men. Every fear we overcame brought confidence. Every tribe and tribulation we faced brought us growth. Interactions in and out of the classrooms, good or bad, brought us countless memories and life lessons we will never forget. Teachers we did not like taught us that respect is given reciprocally. Teachers we loved gave unique relationships of mutual appreciation between a teacher and a student. We realized that while we will miss the more memorable and significant things, it is the mundane and trivial parts of being a student at Chaminade that we will miss most. We’ve hated each other, forgave each other, and loved each other in no particular order. We have said things that we regret, and we have said things to others that have carried more weight in their lives than we will ever know. We were once strangers but now brothers and this bond of brotherhood is not one that can be broken by time or geography. I love you all more than you know and thank you for making my time here such an amazing experience. To the faculty - Mr. Shaver, thank you for showing me what it means to live a life of integrity and for being as driven as a person as you are. You are the backbone of this school and you often do not receive credit where credit is due. Dr. Schmitt, thank you for serving as a model of authenticity. You are a person that I truly do look up to and admire for your ability to always be yourself. Dr. Desnoyer and Coach Bennett, thank you for teaching the importance of a good work ethic. This important life skill that you both taught me through your classes' freshman year, has carried me a long way through life and my academic career. Mr. Stout, thank you for being a person who seeks change in a world that refuses to do so. Dr. Armon, thank you for being a catalyst of academic and intelligent conversation inside and outside of your classroom. I wish you the best of luck at the second-best Marianist school in Saint Louis. Kidding, kinda... Mr. Carter, thank you for being a model of “Esto Vir”. You are a man that I truly look up to and I admire your ability to find purpose in everything that it is that you do. Also thank you for helping me find what it is that I want to do with the rest of my life, which is Journalism. Mr. Arendt, thank you for being such a cool dude and a constant reminder that life is not that serious. The way that you live life in the moment and know what is most important to you is how I hope to live in my own life. Mr. Keithley, thank you for bringing sarcasm, sass, and sense of humor into everything you say and do in life. Dr. Barnidge, thank you for putting up with all our crap. Your class was always a blast, and you always found a way to make learning about contemporary issues in the middle east interesting. Mr. Corte, your intellect and knowledge is almost too hard to comprehend. You are simply a brilliant man and thank you for holding intelligent conversations in class even when they sidetracked what it is we were supposed to be learning that day. Mr. Bell, thank you for allowing me to harness my creativity through CSPN. I have found what it is that I want to spend the rest of my life doing and that wouldn’t have been possible without you facilitating in doing so. Mr. Hale, thank you for being one of the people that have aided me to find what it is I hope to do with my life. You were the person that got me on to the Cardinal and White and pushed me to become a better writer. Coach Torrey, thank you for giving me a second chance junior year. You do not know the magnitude your decision to allow me to rejoin the football team had on my life. In addition, thank you for being such a good coach and mentor for me and my fellow teammates. Football has brought me so many memories and moments that I will never forget, and I can’t thank you enough for these experiences. Fitz, thank you for the work that you do for the campus ministry and the retreat programs that we have at Chaminade. Kairos was a life changing experience in my life and allowed me to appreciate and understand the Chaminade brotherhood. Also, thank you for finally getting me to join the Rugby team. It is by far my favorite sport I have ever played, and I have
strengthened and created relationships with guys that I would have otherwise never done had I not played rugby. Finally... Fr. Ralph, thank you for your constant dedication and hard work to make Chaminade the amazing place that it is today. All these things that I am grateful for do not exist without the work that you have done. Also, thank you for always being a friendly face and brighten my day every time I see you in the hallways or in the lunch line. I hope that you have a relaxing and enjoyable retirement, you have earned it and then some. Kyouta Setoyama – I really want to say thank you to all the Chaminade teachers and coaches. During my time at Chaminade, I learned how to be a gentleman. I also had great time with my friends. Therefore, I will continue my Esto Vir journey. Mark Shapiro – Chaminade was a ok place Joshua Stehle – It feels like just yesterday that I was walking around in the 7th grade hallway. Everyone always said that it flies by but I never understood what they meant until right now. I am writing this and it is starting to hit me that my time here is done. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to attend such an amazing school and will be forever grateful for the friendships I have made. George Stewart – I absolutely loved my time at Chaminade. I’ve grown to know many people I can call my brothers at this place, some who have already graduated, and some who will graduate after me. This school has given me the chance to increase my academic skills, visit places on the trips, create long lasting memories, and meet my friends who I know will stay my friends forever. It has helped me come out of my shell, try new things like YAG and Model UN and help me find my love for Rugby and Wrestling. At first, I thought I was gonna hate it here, and I didn’t know many people, that all changed though with the Tetons trip. That was the best trip of my Chaminade career and life, I met my friends who I’m still friends with on that trip, had a lot of laughs, and had a fun time and challenge. I also got to go on the March for Life, be interviewed and appear on a YouTube channel and waive to Donald Trump. Honestly, everyone in the class and even people outside of it feels like a brother to me. Chaminade does a superb job of brining people together and making a brotherhood. People like Adam Koetting, Mitch Gamma, Ryan Lottes, James Lynn, Nathan Einig, Henry Venker, Simon Peistrup, Anthony Bradford, and Seth Hadlow, are some of my closest friends, but all other seniors are my brothers, as is everyone here, and some juniors like Jack Lake and Jake Ortiz are some of the underclassmen I’ve gotten to know and love. Teachers are also another big part of this school and all of them are great hires. All of them just feel special and nice. I’ve always loved Mr. McMenamy, and I’ve always loved Dr. Armon too. Our time was cut very short because of Covid, but Mr. Keithley really intrigued me and was a great teacher. Some other mentions are Mrs. Schmidt, Dr. Schmitt, Mr. Master, Mr. Chiburis, Mr. Burdge, Mr. Mug, Mr. Schaaf, Mr. Grumich, Coach Bennett, Dr. Karcher, and many more. The faculty is great as well, and honestly there is no one I hate or dislike here. We all have a deep brotherhood and respect for all the adults. And before I end it, I wanna say thanks to you Mr. Fitz, I loved getting to know you, playing Rugby, going on retreats, all that. Kairos was a fun experience and I thank you and all who did it. You’re a real role model to me, like everyone else at this school, and I just wanted to say thanks. I’m gonna miss Chaminade and my brothers, but I find solace in the fact that it has prepared me for College and adult life, and I’ll cherish these memories and brotherhoods I’ve formed. Samuel Strauss – As I am finishing my senior year at Chaminade I am excited to go experience the world. I am ready for High School to be over! I am ready for COVID to be over! I am excited to go to Texas Christian University in the Fall! I have spent 7 years at Chaminade, and the lessons I have learned here are a major influence on my life. I am grateful for the care and concern that Father Ralph and the entire Chaminade faculty
put into our education every day. I am also grateful to my parents, who spent the time, money and energy to make my middle school and high school years so successful. I believe I am prepared for college, and I look forward to becoming a proud Red Devil Alum! Pedro Suarez-Solar – It’s crazy to think how fast time flies. I remember my first day at chaminade when I was in 6th grade and it’s crazy to believe that I am already graduating. Chaminade has been such an influential part of my life and has created so many memories and friends. Edward Sudekum – When reflecting on my time at Chaminade, I realize how long this place has been a part of my life. I feel like Chaminade has always been present in my life. From hearing about it from my dad, to watching my brother start going here, and then experiencing it myself, it’s always been such a profound place and part of why I am the way I am today. That’s why it’s so crazy to me that my time here is over. Although there were definitely highs and lows during my time at Chaminade, I can’t thank everyone involved enough. The seven years I spent at this school were the most important moments at my life and I am certainty going to miss them Tausif Talukder – I thank Chaminade for the memories that have been created there, and for the friends that I have made during my years there Anthony Torretta – I could not be more blessed to have attended Chaminade College Preparatory. I am unbelievably grateful for the relationships that Chaminade has helped me form with my family, friends and faculty. I have formed the closest relationships I have experienced through Chaminade. Chaminade has taught me to take a strong approach to life and work as an intelligent, hardworking and kind man. Loi Tran – It was a fortune for me to become a Chaminade student. My three year in Chaminade has taught me not just how to become a good student, but also how to be a good man in the society. There are a lot of hard times during my journey, but I am blessed to have my friends, as well as my teachers, accompany me throughout my high school. Binh Truong – I will never forget what Chaminade has done for me in the last 4 years. I came in as a little boy ,but Chaminade transformed me into a man, a leader physically and mentally. I have made many unforgettable memories with my friends and teachers. My favorite memory has to be the volleyball state championship. All my teachers have done a good job preparing me for college and future life in general. There are many life lessons that I will never forget. I has made many life-long friends and they has helped me a lot in life. Coming to Chaminade was the best decision of my life! Henry Venker – I have been very blessed to attend Chaminade and it has formed me into who I am today Cole Verhulst – Thank you to the faculty, staff, administration, and my fellow classmates for making my time at Chaminade the best 7 years of my life. Over these years I have made friendships that will last a lifetime, and memories I will never forget. To my fellow classmates, I would not be the same without you. Each one of you has made an impact on my life that I will cherish forever. To my teachers, while your education has been wonderful, I think the most important thing was the relationships we created. Prior to Chaminade I didn’t know that being friends with a teacher was a thing but so many out you have done that and I greatly thank you for that.
Andrew Vitale – Thank you Chaminade for really learning who I am as a man. I learned some great experiences from some great teachers and coaches in football and rugby and will forever cherish the moments I have made. Jack Weber – Chaminade has taught me everything but most importantly it taught me how to be a man. The brotherhood that I built throughout my time that I will have for the rest of my life is something that I will be forever grateful for. Throughout my time at chaminade, I always felt like I had someone there for me when I needed them or I felt like I could be there for someone who needed someone. The brotherhood at chaminade is something I will cherish forever because of the relationships I have built. Tyson Weismiller – Conrad Wendling – The greatest moments throughout my Chaminade career was being in the student section with the Red Army. Henry Wessel – Chaminade was able to give me so many unbelievable experiences. From travelling to several different countries, watching Chaminade sports, to learning so much over my seven years here. There are many important aspects to Chaminade and many things that I have learned; however nothing compares to the connections I have made here. I was able to connect with many different people overs even years and as my time here comes to an end, those relationships are the thing I value most. Chaminade has given me a new home and community and the relationships within that community have helped me become the man I am today. Stephen Wheadon – Over the course of my time at Chaminade, I have learned a lot about myself as a student, teammate, friend, and person. The education we receive is not the only thing that makes this place special, but also the personal experiences that Chaminade affords to you along with the people that work and attend here. Many teachers have pushed me towards academic excellence, but they also genuinely care about how I am as a person. Teachers like Profe Menshouse and Mr. Shaver being available to talk whenever something was weighing on my mind is something I will never forget. It is sad to think about how we will soon go our separate ways, but I am grateful for the memories I was able to make during my time at Chaminade Nick White – My time at Chaminade was an irreplaceable time in my life in which I formed life long connections, had a great academic experience to ready me for college, and greatly enjoyed the sports programs as well as the social events which challenged and led me to becoming close to more people outside of my bubble and that is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life Clayton Whitworth – I am grateful for my experience at Chaminade because I have been able to make great friends, take interesting classes, and be best prepared for my future in college. It was a great experience and it has helped me become the person I am now John Wilson – Thank you Chaminade for making me into the man I am today. I couldn’t have asked for a better 7 years and will truly miss it. William Wilson – I’m not one for dwelling on the past so I’ll make this short. Chaminade has provided me with the rudimentary knowledge to maneuver through the rest of my life as a man. I thank them for that. Maxwell Wolkey – At my four years in Chaminade I did not just learn in the classroom about content that was taught. I learned from experiences that brought me great wisdom. I enjoyed my time at Chaminade and loved it
and will definitely come back to visit. Through everything my class went through we stayed unified and got through it all. Jack Wyeth – I am so grateful to Chaminade for giving me a phenomenal education. I couldn’t have asked for a better high school experience. I want to thank all of my teachers for their support and kindness. Esto Vir, Gentleman….Esto Vir! Yiyang Yu – Chaminade is the best choice for everyone who wants to be a real man. Here you will gain the comprehensive knowledge, the strong spirit, and social experiences. They will be your key to the colleges and a bright career. I enjoy my short time in Chaminade for nice faculties and peers, the variety of teams and clubs, and the unity of the whole community. I will miss my times in Chaminade, and I know you will also miss here when you graduate. Esto Vir gentlemen. Peter Zaegel – Aside from my father graduating from Chaminade in the Mid-80’s, I had no connections to Chaminade. My brother and sister went to co-ed schools and my parents were taken back when I told them I wanted to go to Chaminade. Myself and my parents believe whole-heartedly that it was the right choice. Over my time at Chaminade, I am most thankful for the relationships I have made. Every school talks about how their a family, but the family spirit at Chaminade is unmatched. I have made friends here that will last lifetimes and some of my favorite memories I’ve made within my 18 years have been with my friends from Chaminade Kehan Zhan – The experience in Chaminade has been quite a ride. I’ve met students with amazing qualities whom I appreciate much for their presence in the school. I’ve been given help by many of the teachers and faculties throughout the period. The supports I received from them are significant. To some of the teachers, I opened up the fence and let them hear my voice. They are genuinely trustworthy people. I made the right choice, following my intuition and picking Chaminade.
