Dear Summer Musical Theatre Patrons,
Oh, the thinks you can think!
The mind is truly so powerful, and our creativity can take us to the most joyful, colorful, creative, loveliest, even darkest places we can imagine. Who hasn’t grown up with the world of Dr. Seuss in some form in their lives?
The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish. Blue Fish, Oh the Places You’ll Go, Green Eggs and Ham, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and of course, Horton Hears a Who… How many books can you name?
In our less than three weeks together we have focused on immersing ourselves in the world of Seuss and a kind, gentle soul named Horton who happened upon the teeniest of people floating through the air and took it upon himself to care for them. What a beautiful sentiment and how lovely the world would be if we would always look out for each other with the understanding that “a persons a person no matter how small.”
What a joy to watch twenty-five individuals come together and learn to share a story together through acting, music, dancing and build community in such a short time! Isn’t theatre brilliant?!! Beautiful, chaotic, mysterious and wonderful to be able to step into a world where you share your gifts together with your fellow artists. And how amazing to watch them all grow in their skills and confidence in our brief time together!
Thank you to everyone involved in helping make this magic happen! Our wonderful staff and drama mamas, fabulous creatives, and our most dedicated Chaminade Players crew!
Thank you, Seussical families for sharing your awesome children with this Summer Musical Theatre Intensive!
Thank you, audiences, for your support of live theatre and youth theatre programs! Oh, the Places you’ll go when you think about Seuss!
Enjoy your experience!
Yours in the arts,
Yvette L. Bishop Director of Theatre Program Chaminade College Preparatory High School
