Dear Patron of the Arts,
Welcome to what we consider a privilege! It is such a thrill to have the opportunity to be sharing this beautiful musical with our Chaminade community.
This is an old Greek myth, an old tale that has been adapted to speak to all generations telling a story of love during challenging times and how people respond during those challenging times. It’s a story of love and a story of fear and doubt, but it’s also a story of community and purpose. It’s a tragedy, but we get back up and we tell it again… Why? Perhaps to remind ourselves that we are human, and tomorrow is another day. Grace is a gift, and we can be reborn and begin again. There is joy and beauty in the journey. Maybe next time it can turn out the way we planned, the way we hoped.
Our creative journey was not without its own challenges right from the beginning. However, I have always found that there is learning every step of the way if you choose to accept it. Sometimes it is difficult to recognize in the moment and doubt sets in. We need to forge ahead knowing the path might not be as we expected but we can and will achieve our purpose.
I love this show and am so thankful for the remarkable creative team that has worked so hard to teach, create, build, guide, and share their gifts with the cast and crew. I am so proud of the dedication, the growth, the joy I have witnessed in the wonderful cast and crew. And I thank the amazing parent volunteers who give so much of themselves to ensure that this program’s meals, concessions, and front of house needs are taken care of. I also thank all who support our Drama program!
So, let us lift our cups… To the world we dream about…
And let us focus on how blessed we are to create art in the theatre, share it with our loved ones, and grow in our artistry, our skills, and keep the next generation moving forward on their journey as artists, leaders, storytellers, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and empathetic human beings.
Thank you for spending time with us!
Yours in the arts,
Yvette Lawrence Bishop Director of Drama Program Chaminade College Preparatory High School
