Protecting our Most Valuable Asset: Preventing Harm to Worker Health when Dealing with Contamination. Kevin Bampton, Chief Executive Officer at BOHS will be discussing “How approaches used for environmental

protection, planning, construction and architecture can contribute to worker and end-user health protection. Latest scientific and practical developments in groundworker protection are investigated.” Watch BOHS’s CPD accredited seminar on 23 September at 12:30 in the Hazardous Materials theatre.

How asbestos hits a family

Dr Mavis Nye, President and Co-Founder of the Mavis Nye Foundation and Dr Ray Nye, Vice Chair of Mavis Nye Foundation will be discussing the story of the patient and carer and how they turned it around to raise awareness and became health and safety experts. Mavis Nye says: “I have reached my 80th birthday, which has surprised all the doctors and the NHS, so while I have the energy, I will keep talking about how every year, 5,000 people die from asbestos exposure in the UK. That’s more than the number of people who die in car accidents.”
