Mt. Olivet Baptist Church 16th Annual Holy Week Ends With "7 LAST WORDS OF CHRIST"

The week-long celebration of the 16th Annual Celebration of Holy Week services at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Rochester will be capped off by an event called “7 Last Words Of Christ.”

This service will be held on the evening of Good Friday, March 29 at 6p.m. and will feature both local and regional preachers from diverse backgrounds including: Minister Serena Young, Pastor Robert Hoggard, Pastor Roger Breedlove, Pastor Willie Lightfoot, Pastor Marilyn Cunningham, Pastor Cedric Cooper, Pastor Kia Brooks, Pastor Leon Tate, Pastor Rodney R. Roberts, Bishop Gregory Wells, Pastor Cynthia Anderson, Dr. Douglass Smith, Dr. Keith L. Robinson, and Rev. DeCarto Draper.

Garth Fagan Dance Establishes Relationship With University Of North Carolina, Greensboro

Garth Fagan Dance (GFD) will be performing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Auditorium on April 5 at 8p.m. The reputation of Rochester-based GFD’s contemporary choreography came to the attention of the Director of UNCG’s School of Dance who engaged the company not only to perform, but also to lecture and demonstrate the Fagan Technique.

Garth Fagan, along with GFD’s new President Natalie Rogers Cropper, and Artistic Director PJ Pennewell, have curated a suite of dances to be performed by the Rochester-based company. The program is sponsored by UNCG and the Arts Council of Greater Greensboro.

Alexandra Joye Warren, founding artistic director of JOYEMOVEMENT in Greensboro, said her choreography is inspired by Garth, and is excited to participate in the program-exemplifying just one indication of how Garth Fagan Dance influences the development of contemporary dance in the US. Ms. Rogers Cropper said, “We are advancing the legacy of Garth Fagan Dance, and look forward to additional performances around the country, as well as in our home base of Rocester, as our new leadership team expands our reach."

Cheektowaga Cops Out Of Control!

Citizens Outraged Over Use of Excessive Force in Arrest of 15-Year-Old Teen in The Streets of Buffalo's East Side

It was last Wednesday that a squadron of Cheektowaga police flooded the East Side of Buffalo at the corner of Erb and Genesee Street. Bernice Lee from The Juice Lounge, (BernBern Lee on Facebook) captured the majority of the event on Facebook live, her original video getting over 2k shares and 61k views. The police were there because they received a complaint that there was a petty theft that occurred at the Family Dollar on the corner of Genesee and Andrew Street on the Cheektowaga and Buffalo border. Bernice describes how the officers jumped on a 15-year-old Black girl, wrestled her to the ground, had their knees on the back of her neck and tied her hands and legs while she was down. Video capture of the police interaction shows just that.

At roughly 7 minutes and 20 seconds into the video, an employee from the Family Dollar approached the vehicle where the 15-year-old girl was being detained, and he stated that she was not the individual who was stealing in the store. Regardless, Cheektowaga continued the arrest, because they felt she

fit the description of the suspect in question. According to her family they charged her with resisting arrest.

Community members surrounded the police vehicles outraged at the police handling of the young girl. The scene had more than 6 police vehicles along with other unmarked vehicles on site, one female officer was accounted for, at least one undercover officer and there were no Black officers or officers of color. Not surprising in the 124 member Cheektowaga Police force there is just one Black

officer and one Latino officer.

Two days later, a press conference was held at the Juice Lounge, followed by a protest led by the community. According to most who were on the scene that day, it was Bernice’s actions that might have saved the young Black teen’s life. The demands from the protest were directed at Family Dollar to release their camera footage and to the Cheektowaga Police to release all their footage from the incident and drop the charges. According to Cheektowaga police, however, they have recovered footage from the store that shows the young girl stealing. The community insists, no matter the reason, the use and show of force was excessive and out of place.

Chief Coons of the Cheektowaga Police Department defended his officer’s actions stating: “The force they ‘the officers’ used was minimal. In fact, I think they showed a lot of restraint.” He further explains that “It worked out. The number of officers that were there, instead of having one officer really fight this individual, having more officers there was able to help subdue

Robert Franklin was a free African American of advanced age living in a log cabin with his family on Niagara Street, near presentday Columbus Parkway. At the time, the location was within the boundaries of the Village of Black Rock, but was later incorporated into the City of Buffalo. Little is known about Mr. Franklin, but recollections about him recorded that he was known as "Frankie" and that he helped successfully repel a British invasion during the War of 1812 at the First Battle of Black Rock, July 11, 1813. He was killed five months later when Buffalo was burned, December 30, 1813. Franklin's body, with the other dead, was buried in a single large grave in the Franklin Square burying ground (present site of Erie County Hall). Decades later, the remains of citizens buried there were moved to Forest Lawn cemetery.

It is not known when Robert Franklin moved to Buffalo/Black Rock but he is among those residents recorded in the 1810 Buffalo census. His household included himself and two other people, so it is possible that he has living descendants among us.

Henry Masters wrote and published a book about the African man summoned from the crowd to carry Jesus’ cross to Calvary. Now in his late seventies, the retired United Methodist pastor, last year produced his own full-length musical about Simon of Cyrene. It was scheduled to be performed as a special Lenten program last April at Dallas’ Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.

hen Buffalo-based fiber artist Robin Crawford heard about the “Stitching Stories: Quilts By Daisy Estelle Anderson & Others” exhibit at the Michigan Street Corridor’s Broadway Avenue Headquarters, she was excited about seeing the show.

Robin, who is an accomplished quilter in her own right, was even more impressed to hear that the closing reception was featuring a viewing of the short film, “The Quilts of Gee’s Bend.”

The all-Black community of Gee’s Bend (Boykin, Alabama) is famous for the production of its unique style of quilt-making that has its roots in enslavement, and been passed down through generations. Today their quilts are considered works of art and are highly sought after by collectors and museums around the world.

In 2010 Robin, a member of the Afro American Quilters Guild in Pittsburgh, was offered to go on a retreat to Gee’s Bend.

“It was an experience of a lifetime,” she recalled, “a dream come true!”

“I actually slept in the 100 year old slave house on Martha James Pettway Road,” she continued. “The one thing that was really significant, was that I actually made a quilt on the property with the help of the women! We all sat around and quilted it together.”

She named her quilt “On The Bend.” It’s still in her possession.

She said she also learned a lot about the importance and significance of quilts beyond just keeping warm, such as the many African American symbols they incorporated .

“The Gee’s Bend women use the 100 year old House as a retreat,” she said. “They take pride in being on their land and the land their forefathers lived and worked on.”

Her relationship with some of the women continued even after she returned to Pittsburgh. The Gees Bend Women later came there for a huge quilt & Trunk Show.

Reflecting on her personal journey, quilting she said, changed her life creatively.

“I never thought about quilting initially. I was into design and tailoring but when it was introduced to me, it took me to another level of creativity. That’s how I got my name as a fiber artist,” she said.

-40 Year Return-

Before leaving Buffalo in 1982 to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where she earned an Associate's Degree and Carlow University, for her Bachelor of Arts, Robin was very active here teaching sewing and design classes, modeling workshops and dance. While living in Pittsburgh she made great strides and continued to grow artistically (i.e. In 2003, her quilts were included in the Bold Improvisation: 120 Years of African American Quilts exhibition at the Senator John Heinz History Center. She was also one of 20 selected quilters for the complementary exhibition African American Quilters and Preservers of Western Pennsylvania that same year). She also provided outreach ministry to youth.

Since she returned home a few years ago, she’s been encouraged by some of the talented people she’s met. She is currently part of the “Before and After Again” exhibit at the AKG Museum and is looking forward to working with the AKG on future collaborations. -Staff Writer

According to retired Buffalo Police Officer and community advocate Cariol Horne, “The problem is bigger than police, the problem is with the people in power and the politicians that allow this to happen. This is why we need Cariol’s Law.” Cariol’s law has six main components, including duty to intervene and accountability for not intervening in the case of excessive force and police brutality. Cariol’s law has been adopted by the Buffalo Police Department as the Duty to Intervene but has not been adopted on a statewide level yet.

According to the 15-year-old's grandmother Aminah Barnes, and many others in the community, whether or not she had committed petty theft, she is a 15-year-old girl and the amount of force used was not only excessive, but something that will have a long-term traumatic impact. Many are left making the comparison on how Payton Gendron, the criminal responsible for the 5/14 race based massacre was escorted out of Tops entirely unharmed, while a 15-year-old Black girl accused of petty theft requires a hospital visit after leaving police custody.

Black Kidney Health Matters!

Kidney Disease is Part of a Larger Black Health Crisis

According to the National Kidney Foundation 33% of American adults are at risk for kidney disease (yes, one in three people), and if you are Black or Af rican American, you are more than 3 times as likely to have kidney failure compared to White Americans. This is largely driven by economic, structural, and social deter minants of health that have unfairly im pacted Black Americans, and as a result, Black populations have much higher rates of high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and heart disease… all of which increases the risk for kidney disease.

In addition, the way in which kidney disease was traditionally diagnosed underestimated the presence and/or severity of disease in Black or African American people delaying important interventions to preserve kidney function. Kidney checkup: two simple tests

Chronic Kidney Disease is evaluated using two simple tests – a blood test known as the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and a urine test known as the urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR). Both tests are needed to have a clear picture of your kidney health.

-Symptoms of stage 1 kidney disease-

Many people do not experience symptoms of kidney disease until the later stages of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) . Talk to your doctor immediately if you notice any of these potential CKD signs and symptoms which may include:

•Changes in urination

Healthy kidneys help filter blood to create urine. When the kidneys don’t function well, urination issues may occur such as needing to urinate more often or seeing blood in your urine. You may also experience urine that’s foamy or bubbly—which could be an early sign that protein is getting into your urine due to damaged kidneys.

•Fatigue

Reduced kidney function can lead to a buildup of toxins in the blood that causes you to have a lack of energy or feel overwhelmingly tired. CKD may also cause anemia, which can make you feel tired or weak due to having too few red blood cells.

•Itching

Dry and itchy skin may be a sign that you have an imbalance of minerals and nutrients in your blood due to kidney disease. Itching is often caused by high blood levels of phosphorus.

•Swelling in your hands, legs, or feet

When your kidneys aren’t removing excess fluid and sodium from your body, swelling (also known as edema) may occur in your feet or other lower extremities.

•Shortness of breath

Extra fluid can build up in your lungs when your kidneys aren't removing enough fluid, which may cause you to be short of breath. CKD-induced anemia, which is a shortage of oxygen carrying red blood cells, may also cause breathlessness.

•Pain in the small of your back

You may experience localized pain near your kidneys that doesn't change or that becomes worse when you move or stretch. The kidneys are located on either side of your spine in your lower back, and kidney problems can cause pain in this area. Back pain may also be due to an infection or blockage of the kidneys, which can lead to kidney damage.

•Decreased appetite

A buildup of toxins due to impaired kidney function may cause you to lose your appetite, whether because you feel full or too sick or tired to eat.

•Puffiness around your eyes

Protein leaking into your urine as a result of kidney damage may cause persistent puffiness around the eyes, an early sign of kidney disease.

•Abnormal levels of phosphorus, calcium, or vitamin D Impaired kidney function can cause electrolyte imbalances, such as low calcium levels or high phosphorus, that may lead to muscle cramping.

•Abnormal urine test

High amounts of protein in your urine, called proteinurea, can be a sign of kidney disease. Healthy kidneys filter out waste and fluid, letting protein return to the blood. When the kidneys don’t function correctly, protein leaks into your urine.

•High blood pressure

Excess fluid and sodium build up as a result of kidney disease can cause you to have higher blood pressure. High blood pressure can also damage the blood vessels in the kidneys and lead to a worsening of kidney disease over time.

Can stage 1 kidney disease be reversed?

While there is no cure for kidney disease and kidney damage can’t be reversed once it occurs, you can start taking steps now to slow the progression of CKD. Each person experiences kidney disease differently. Many people who are diagnosed with kidney disease in the early stages never have kidney failure, and those who later experience kidney failure can live well for decades with treatment. Surgeons Transplant Pig Kidney Into A Patient

For the first time, surgeons have transplanted a kidney from a genetically modified pig into a living person.

Richard Slayman, a 62-year-old Black man, of Weymouth, Mass., is suffering from end-stage kidney disease. He received the organ last Saturday in a four-hour procedure, Massachusetts General Hospital announced. He is recovering well and is expected to be discharged Saturday, the hospital said.

End-stage renal disease is 3.8 times more common among Black people than White people in the U.S., according to federal statistics.

Judge Rules That Lawsuit Against Social Media Companies May Proceed

On March 18, a New York State judge rejected a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against social media companies alleging the platforms helped radicalize a gunman who perpetuated a massacre on Buffalo’s East Side. The gunman, then 18, killed 10 people and injured three others – all of them Black – on May 14, 2022, at the Tops grocery store on Jefferson Avenue.

Erie County Supreme Court Justice Paula Feroleto ruled that the lawsuit against social media companies may proceed. Although attorneys for the platforms have been seeking to have such lawsuits dismissed, Feroleto disagreed. The move is another mark in the victory column for the Buffalo law firm John V. Elmore, P.C., as well as reassurance for the families of those killed in the Tops murders that justice will be served.

“As long as we are on the right side of justice, it is not surprising that a small, family-operated law firm on the East Side can win such a major motion and argument against the multi-billion-dollar tech companies,” said attorney Kristen Elmore-Garcia. “We are standing up for our Buffalo community to make sure that no one else suffers the type of losses our clients and neighbors have endured.”

In March 2023, Elmore-Garcia’s firm, along with the Social Media Victims Law Center and the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the owners of six social media platforms and streaming services; an Iowa-based manufacturer of body armor; a New York-based gun store; a Georgia-based manufacturer of custom gun accessories; and the parents of the Tops gunman. The lawsuit was the first of its kind to hold social media companies and firearms manufacturers accountable for mass shootings in America.

Clean Mobility Buffalo Aims To Power East Side Forward

Clean Mobility Buffalo recently celebrated the official launch of a significant investment for clean transportation improvements on the East Side. The event took place at an East Side Forward Expo, which was held at the Northland Workforce Training Center. Nearly 200 people attended the gathering to learn about ongoing projects and to initiate meaningful conversations about providing equitable access to transportation. The event was a lively gathering of residents, families, businesses, and community organizations.

An alliance of like-missioned organizations and neighborhood leaders have banded together to implement clean transportation improvements throughout the East Side. With the support of a historic $10 million commitment from the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) under the New York Clean Transportation Prizes Program, they are advancing solutions to long-standing challenges through forward-thinking projects.

A cleaner, healthier, and more connected East Side, identifying current transportation challenges and introducing innovative, environmentally friendly, and health-conscious alternatives for all. Crosswalks visible and free from obstructions, bike lanes and paths separated from vehicle traffic, well-organized ride-sharing arrangements, and safe and adequately maintained bus stops are all crucial components of reliable, accessible, and safe infrastructure.

What’s Happening? What Projects Are In Motion?

The project is in a rigorous phase of planning and discovery. Listening to community stakeholders through surveys, focus groups, and town hall meetings will help shape long-range transformation. Over 20 community leaders deeply rooted in the East Side formed its Neighborhood Leadership Group (NLG). Over the past six months, the NLG partners have completed training, created transit education, and connected with neighbors to gather feedback.

As the process of bringing partners on board continues, GObike and Reddy Bikeshare are now working on implementing the first pair of Clean Mobility Buffalo projects—the revival of bike and walking trails and the expansion of an e-bikeshare.

Moving forward, we will share more updates from Clean Mobility Buffalo about plans and progress, creating access to clean transit options for East Side residents.

Entertainment "Family Before Everything" a New Film Collaboration Provides Opportunities and Participation

Brace yourselves for an unforgettable cinematic experience as the eagerly anticipated film, "Family Before Everything," takes center stage on Saturday, April 6th, with screenings at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the Seneca One Building Auditorium, nestled within the iconic Seneca One Tower at 1 Seneca St., Buffalo, NY. A narrative that transcends time, the story was originally crafted in 2011 as a stage play by the brilliant BAVPA Alumni, Phil Davis Sr., and born from a heartto-heart conversation between Phil and his brother Jimmy, that evolved into a stage play co-written with Phil's wife, Taura. Directed by the late Buffalo theatre legend, Willie Judson, the play ran in both 2011 and 2015, with the later version featuring executive producer John Stover Jr., Alphonso Walker Jr., and Terrance “TBrizzy Brown” in lead roles, which inspired the conversation to eventually make the play into a feature film, after eight years.

At its core, "Family Before Everything" delves into the profound meaning of safeguarding and providing for one's family, even when the outcome may not align with personal preferences. Exploring themes of choice, family dynamics, unity, the transformative power of education, and the significance of faith.

FBE Production Company is committed to nurturing the next generation of storytellers. Purposefully integrating past alumni and current students into the film, FBE provided hands-on learning experiences, with some students participating as supporting actors, extras, and production assistants during after-hours shoots at the school. Mortgage Lending Lags to Black Applicants in Buffalo

It's tougher for African-Americans in Erie and Niagara counties to obtain a home loan than in almost any other metro region in the nation, according to an Investigative Post analysis

Black applicants are twice as likely to be denied a home mortgage as the overall population in Erie and Niagara counties, an Investigative Post analysis has found.

What’s more, the region’s 18 percent rejection rate for Black mortgage applicants in 2022 was higher than in all but a handful of other major metro areas nationally.

The gap between the denial rate for Black applicants and the overall mortgage denial rate in the Erie-Niagara region – 18 percent vs. 9 percent – was the widest found in the top 50 metro areas.

“Buffalo especially is a place where Black borrowers are more likely to be denied things like a mortgage, compared to white borrowers. Now, this is obviously true across the country and that's a really unfortunate fact, but it seems to be especially egregious in places like Buffalo,” said Jacob Channel, senior economist at LendingTree, an online-lending marketplace based in North Carolina.

Income disparities are partly to blame, mortgage analysts and community leaders say. Median household income for whites is almost double that of Black households in Erie and Niagara counties, according to census data.

But other factors – including remnants of historic redlining –also play a role, they say.

“To say that redlining doesn’t happen today — maybe not outright, where we are continuing to put red lines on maps — but it does happen in the banking system in all sorts of ways,” said Kathryn Franco, former president of the Buffalo Niagara Community Reinvestment Coalition.

Banks and other lending companies deny redlining or otherwise discriminating, with all contacted saying they are committed to equality and helping more people own their own homes.

“Any decision to deny an applicant is based solely on the financial information and data associated with the applicant,” KeyBank, one of the largest lenders in the region, said in response to recent criticism.

Other banks offered similar statements.

Investigative Post reported in November that Black home ownership rates have stagnated in Buffalo and Erie County over the past four decades. About a third of Black households own their own homes, compared with half of white households in Buffalo and almost three fourths in Erie County, according to Census reports.

As a follow-up to that report, Investigative Post analyzed the most recent federal Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data from 2018 through 2022 for Erie and Niagara counties, as well as 2021 and 2022 data for the top 50 metro areas in the United States.

Among the findings:

•Black borrowers account for a small portion of home mortgages — usually less than 5 percent — issued by most of the region's largest financial institutions. That includes KeyBank, the area’s second largest bank, which rejected 27 percent of Black applicants.

•Nonbank lenders such as Hunt Mortgage generally issue a lower percentage of their loans to Black applicants than do banks. They are also more likely to issue loans that are easier to qualify for, but can carry more fees, costing borrowers more money over time.

•High debt-to-loan ratios, followed by credit history and lack of collateral, are most often cited as reasons for loan denials for Black applicants, as well as white.

•Black mortgage applicants are less likely to be rejected in almost a dozen other metro areas with incomes comparable to those in Erie and Niagara counties.

•Black homebuyers in the Erie-Niagara region apply for mortgages at roughly half the rate of whites. The lower application rate combined with a higher denial rate has stalled homeownership.

The analysis also found the 9 percent loan rejection rate for all races in Erie and Niagara counties in 2022 was in line with the national average. But the 18 percent Black denial rate in the Erie-Niagara region surpassed the 14 percent average denial rate among the top 50 metro areas surveyed nationally. Only the New Orleans, Miami, Detroit and Austin, Texas, regions rejected Black loan applications at a higher rate than Erie-Niagara.

The issues raised are complex, according to analysts and community leaders.

Income disparities are a leading contributor to lower homeownership and loan approval rates, Franco said. But to blame just income for low Black home ownership rates is too simplistic, analysts and community leaders said. They point to, for example, the almost dozen metro areas with similar Black incomes but lower loan rejection rates in 2022 than Erie and Niagara counties.

Among them are the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh regions. All have Black median household incomes below the national average, and even below the Erie-Niagara median in a few cases. Their financial institutions are less likely to reject Black loans than those in the Erie Niagara region, Investigative Post found.

Today, Evans and Five Star banks, along with Bank of America and M&T Bank, have the strongest records of issuing home mortgages to Black borrowers in Erie and Niagara counties, the Investigate Post analysis found.

Overall, Black home loans in Erie and Niagara counties represented about 7 percent of applications, and 6 percent of issued loans, or originations, in 2022 — up from roughly 5 percent of applications and 4 percent of originations in 2018.

But more than half of the 20 largest lenders didn’t reach those averages, Investigative Post found.

Of these, KeyBank has received the most attention.

An Investigative Post analysis of mortgage data found that of 3,400 home mortgages KeyBank issued in Erie and Niagara counties between 2018 and 2022, fewer than 100 — just under 3 percent — were to Black borrowers, with KeyBank denying over 25 percent of Black loan applications.

"We do not redline in Buffalo or anywhere else we do business,” KeyBank said in a statement.

Some banks with low lending rates to Black borrowers have little presence in Black communities. Citizens Bank, for example, has some 30 branch locations in the Erie -Niagara region, but none on the East Side of Buffalo.

The New York State Department of Financial Services found in 2021 that among the region’s lenders, nonbanks were generally weaker in lending to minorities and in minority communities than the region's banks. Next Possible Solutions

Politicians Speak For Us And Then They Get Elected!

During 2000-2001, in South Buffalo, the Abby St./Hickory Woods Neighborhood controversy was a big issue in the Buffalo Common Council and in Mayor Anthony Masiello's Administration. The politicians that represented South Buffalo as well as those that did not, did right by the people affected by the toxins that were in the soil in the neighborhoods. The toxic pollutants spewed for years, from a large steel factory, before developers decided to build nice, affordable houses on the land.

The homeowners in South Buffalo were getting sick with many illnesses and no one knew why. Meetings were called and soon the Common Council and Mayor Masiello intervened. The City of Buffalo elected officials worked with the EPA and the DEC to make sure the needs of the residents were taken care of. There were many community meetings, surveys and health studies conducted by Erie County and New York State.

Meanwhile, today, residents on Humboldt Parkway are still waiting for their elected officials to meet with them and to support them and /or to demand that the New York State Department Of Transportation (NYSDOT) conduct an Environmental Impact Statement. It is absolutely telling how some Buffalo Common Councilmembers treat certain constituents differently based on what area of the city they live in.

Tell me, what are the sick residents on Humboldt Parkway being offered for their years of breathing toxic air? How will they be compensated from the additional health issues that will be created by the construction of the Tunnel in their front yard? That is why it is important that we, those of us who care about human and civil rights (and sick people), unite and begin to elect the right district council members and work with the community to support the addition of AtLarge council representatives back in the common council.

Furthermore, some of the elected councilmembers are not allowing letters, information or requests to speak; rather that they be filed with the council and to be referred to a Community Development Committee or Legislation Community where it can be discussed or debated. Transparency, democracy and civil engagement seems to have taken a huge step backwards as they relate to citizens' participation in this 2024 council year.

It has been documented that the full restoration of Humboldt Parkway will cost 1/2 of the cost of the Tunnel. Full Restoration would also create more local job opportunities, increase vehicle traffic on customer-starved commercial corridors, reduce the toxins, carbon monoxide and other pollutants from sickening the residents living close to the Expressway.

One important question the residents of the Eastside need to ask the NYSDOT is: If there is no potential harm to residents on Humboldt Parkway by installing the tunnel, why not reassure all of us by conducting the Environmental Impact Statement the whole city is asking for?

As the world waits for an excuse or continues to be subjected to dead silence, I will answer the question. The NYSDOT already knows that the Expressway has already made a lot of homeowners sick while a few have died as a result of breathing all that toxic air, over several decades. They also must realize that the addition of the Tunnel will only make the problem worse because the air filtration system has been removed from the Project by the NYSDOT. By Hook or Crook, they are planning on planting that toxic tunnel in the Expressway on our Humboldt Parkway, community and homeowners opinions be damned!
