A PIED-À-TERRE That’s PURE CHAIRISH
Chairish Co-Founders Anna and Gregg Brockway take us inside their Upper East Side apartment, overflowing with Chairish finds.
Evoking old New York elegance, Chairish co-founders Anna and Gregg Brockway’s Upper East Side pied-à-terre is nestled in one of famed architect Rosario Candela’s last buildings. The 1,700-square-foot duplex overlooks a leafy enclave of Central Park and is fittingly bedecked almost entirely in unique Chairish vintage pieces.
While Anna and Gregg have long made San Francisco their primary home, work was bringing them back to New York City monthly. To make life easier, the couple purchased the Manhattan apartment in 2021 and quickly got to work with interior designer Elizabeth Cooper. Their goal was to remodel and outfit the apartment in a mere three months, likely a New York City record.
“We have spent 11 years developing Chairish as a community of the most exceptional sellers in the U.S. and Europe, so it was an absolute pleasure to shop for this project using almost all vintage pieces sourced right from our site,” Anna explains.

“A home filled with vintage makes me feel surrounded by old friends. Our selected pieces come from some of my favorite dealers and designers, as well as newly discovered ones, all of whose taste I deeply respect. It makes the space very personal to us.”
Inspired by the green of the park trees outside, high-gloss chartreuse walls create a luminous backdrop for the curated collections. (NCS 1020-G80Y Full Gloss from Fine Paints of Europe.) Anna calls it “nature’s neutral,” a color that connects with the outdoors but also “makes me happy when it’s gray outside and brings a little California vibe to our NYC hideaway.”
On the built-in dining room shelves, an assemblage of New York architecture and design books has taken up residence—a testament to the city Anna studied in as an architectural history undergrad at Columbia. “That’s where I learned why I love what I love,” she recalls. Now, as New York becomes a second home for the couple, the city continues to inspire with its signature mix of old and new, high and low. Anna concurs: “This is still my favorite place in the world.”
