Award of the Year An "Award of the Year" is given to a project in each of the disciplines of the contest. These winners are chosen by the jury who deliberate by videoconference to select their top choice.

Grands Prix International An "International Grand Prix" trophy is awarded to the 50 projects with the highest scores given by the Jury, regardless of the countries of origin of the candidates, disciplines, or categories.

Grands Prix To pursue its original mission, the contest rewards the 50 highest scoring projects submitted by Québec candidates and awards them a "Grand Prix". The Québec Top50 whose projects are included in the international Top50 receive the "International Grand Prix" trophy.

A weekend retreat in Rancho Avándaro, this home harmonizes private and communal spaces for a three-generation family, blending traditional materials and contemporary design.

Sustainable features like solar panels and rainwater harvesting complement its aesthetic appeal.

The facade transformation of this warehouse renovation through the delicate movement of white volumes adds lightness to the massive infrastructure. Its roof garden contributes to the building’s overall sustainability and dialogues beautifully with its Grand Canal setting, in Hangzhou, China.

Purpose & Balance Located in Rancho Avándaro, south of Avándaro and Valle de Bravo, Casa Cuatro Soles serves as a weekend retreat for a three-generation family and balances private spaces with communal areas for family gatherings.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

The design refects the diversity o its occupants through contrasting orms and materials, creating a cohesive yet varied architectural language. The residence eatures two main perpendicular volumes and a smaller rectangular volume connected by a corridor, showcasing contemporary country house vibes rom dierent angles.

ARCHITECTURAL STYLE

Blending traditional materials and construction techniques with contemporary geometry, the house designed by Chain + Siman is oriented to maximize views o the surrounding landscape. The gabled roos, supported by Oyamel beams and clad in black clay tiles, add a distinctive touch to the design.

CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS

Built with traditional methods, the exterior walls are made o handmade gray brick. The interior eatures a harmonious blend o three types o wood, creating a unied aesthetic. The local Mexican Oyamel and black steel structure urther enhance the home's cultural and natural integration.

SOLAR SUSTAINABILITY

The house incorporates solar panels, a rainwater harvesting system, and Duovent glass or eiciency. Large windows and domes maximize natural light, while cross ventilation keeps the interiors cool.

This sustainable approach ensures both beauty and eco-eiciency in a weekend retreat that stands out or its seamless blend o tradition and modernity.
