WHAT IF?

“Architect being a conductor”

01 LUMPINI HALL

Nestled amidst the vibrant greens of Bangkok’s Lumpini Park, Lumpini Hall transcends the boundaries of a typical music venue. Inspired by the delicate interplay between music and architecture, it aspires to be a living melody, its form echoing the rhythms of nature and its spaces stirring the emotions like a masterful conductor. Lumpini Hall is more than just a music venue; it is a living testament to the power of architecture to evoke emotion and connect us to the natural world. Its organic form, masterful use of light, and focus on experiential circulation create a space that is both exhilarating and serene, a place where music and nature come together in perfect harmony.

INFINITE MUSIC

LOOP IN ARCHITECTURE

The Lorenz attractor and music

Chaos and order: Both music and the Lorenz attractor exhibit a blend of chaos and order. Music can have structured sections with p re d i c t a b l e m e l o d i e s a n d h a r m o n i e s , w h i l e a l s o i n c o r p o r a t i n g improvisation and unexpected changes. Similarly, the Lorenz attractor appears chaotic, but its overall behavior follows a set of mathematical rules. Dynamic complexity: Music can be incredibly complex and dynamic, with shifting tempos, textures, and emotions. The L o re n z a t t r a c t o r a l s o d i s p l a y s i n t r i c a t e p a t t e r n s a n d e v o l v e s constantly, demonstrating a similar level of dynamic complexity. Fractals and self-similarity: Music often utilizes repetition and self-similar structures, like repeating motifs or variations on a theme. The Lorenz attractor also exhibits self-similarity, with its lobes and loops repeating at different scales.

WHAT IF?

“Publicshareholder concept occurs in Bangkok”

02

VADHANA OFFICE The Fun, Out-of-the-Box, Boundaryless District Office is a design project for a district office that aims to create a new perspective for government agencies. The project redesigns an existing government building to provide a space for people of all ages, genders, and occupations to communicate and exchange experiences. It also creates opportunities for creative activities from local people and outsiders by leveraging shared public space that can be used by both the government, private ‘businesses, and the public, without dividing ownership boundaries.

•

Weekend market: Located on the ground floor of the building, open every Saturday and Sunday, this market provides a place for people to shop and spend money, which helps to circulate income in the area. • R e n t i n g re t a i l s p a c e : Stores can rent just a food c o u n t e r a n d s h a re t h e d i n i n g a re a a s a fo o d c o u r t , w h i c h encourages users to spend money at multiple stores at once. • High-rise building: The building layout is designed to match the number of employees, so it does not have to be fully constructed on all floors. This creates a new dimension for the building, making it visible from all sides and increasing the sense of connection between people in the organization, both visually and physically. In addition to having more open space than a typical office, this design also encourages employees to move more throughout the day, get more natural light, save energy, and reduce stress. The district offices are also grouped together so that they can work together without having to use the elevator. This makes it faster and easier for users to follow the steps involved in doing business with the district office. There is also a co-working space where government agencies and the public can meet and share knowledge through lecture rooms, green spaces, and a public library.

WHAT IF?

“We can solve the urban density problem by modifying existing buildings.”

03

BONKAI HOUSING

The Bonkai Housing project is an attempt to address the negative effects of urbanization and capitalism on the way people live in cities. The project is located in Bangkok, Thailand, and it aims to improve the living conditions of people who are living in cramped and congested spaces. Nowadays, many people in cities are facing inevitable problems. Causing a difference between the lives of people in the past and the present In the past, people were all in houses which creates a horizontal connection between space to space and activities are all connected through interspace but nowadays the area is congested, resulting in overlapping floors for living.

Building familiarity in society with architecture requires an understanding of its location, climate and social conditions. By solving this congestion problem, we have to bring things that are with Thai people back again. That is Thai way of life and living.

The Bonkai Housing project uses a Monoceros grasshopper plugin to match each unit with a suitable function. This means that the units are designed to be used for specific purposes, such as living, sleeping, or eating. This helps to make the most efficient use of space and to ensure that each unit is as comfortable as possible.

The project consists of a series of wooden structures that are arranged in a way that maximizes natural light and ventilation. The structures also have a number of green features, such as plants and trees, which help to i m p ro v e t h e q u a l i t y o f t h e a i r.

WHAT IF?

“Small wood pieces create dynamic space”

04 BANG POLYGON

Bang Polygon is a wood learning center designed to improve the local economy and wood work knowledge for everyone. The building is made of wood and includes a workshop, a wood street museum, and a wood shop. The form of the building is inspired by wood pieces, and the zoning and circulation are designed to create a specific emotional experience for visitors. The form of the building is inspired by wood pieces. The exterior of the building is made of wood panels that are arranged in a random pattern. The interior of the building is made of wood beams and columns that are also arranged in a random pattern. The random pattern of the wood panels and beams is meant to create a sense of excitement and wonder.

The zoning and circulation of the building are designed to create a specific emotional experience for visitors. Visitors enter the building through a narrow passageway. The passageway is designed to create a sense of anticipation. After exiting the passageway, visitors enter a large, open space. The open space is designed to create a sense of awe. Visitors then walk through a series of smaller spaces that are designed to create a sense of intimacy. Finally, visitors exit the building through a narrow passageway that is similar to the passageway they entered through.

WHAT IF? “A retail store was designed with tropical concept and coloring by a Chinatown culture.”

05 MERCH SAMYAN

Merch Samyan is a vibrant community mall that blends seamlessly into the historic fabric of Bangkok’s Chinatown. More than just a shopping destination, it’s a cultural hub that celebrates the area’s heritage while embracing a contemporary, sustainable future. Open to the elements: Bangkok’s hot and humid climate is a key factor in the design of Merch Samyan. The mall is largely open-air, with lush courtyards and louvered facades that provide natural ventilation and shade. This creates a comfortable and inviting space for visitors to explore the shops and cafes.

A microcosm of local life: Merch Samyan is home to a variety of small retail shops and cafes, many of which showcase local artisanship and contemporary Thai flair. The mall’s open layout encourages a sense of community, with people gathering on shared t e r r a c e s t o e n j o y t h e s t re e t fo o d a n d l i v e l y.

Creativity takes root: An architect’s firm occupies the third floor of Merch Samyan, blending seamlessly with the mall’s overall design. The firm’s presence reinforces the project’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, and it also provides a valuable link between the mall and the local creative community.

06 BAM MAKEOVER The old BAM office was a soul-crushing labyrinth of beige walls and flickering fluorescent lights. But fear not, for the “BAM makeover” has wrought a botanical revolution! This is a complete rebirth, transforming the space into a thriving, sustainable sanctuary for a modern firm. BAM now breathes with the rhythm of the outdoors. Lush vertical gardens cascade down the walls, oxygenating the air and creating a vibrant backdrop for work. Daylight streams through expansive windows, blurring the lines between inside and o u t s i d e , and reminding everyone that n a t u r e i s j u s t a s t o n e ’s t h r o w a w a y.

Ascending the office is no longer a chore. I have crafted a sculptural masterpiece a central staircase bathed in natural light, winding around a living green wall. This transformative climb becomes a journey of inspiration, a chance to de-stress and reconnect with nature before diving back into the creative flow.
