CHAI ANNUAL MEETING
Milton P. Levy Award
This award was established in 2000 and was named for Milton Levy who was instrumental in helping the first recipient of the award, Carmen Michael, found this organization. The award has not been given every year, but through the years individuals who have devoted extraordinary time and energy to the betterment of CHAI have received this honor.

These six leaders have been on the ground at CHAI during COVID keeping everything running, taking care of residents, scheduling staff, buying groceries, keeping up with finances, taking residents to doctors and dentist appointments, communicating with families and working a ton of shifts during the night and weekends.
Employee of the Year
Tina Bright 2021 Employee of the Year
Tina Bright is one of the most dependable members of our staff and is always able to calm, redirect and resolve a stressful situation with a resident no matter the issue or challenge. She is a caregiver that is a true role model to all the staff. With CHAI longer than any other staff member, we thank and recognize her for 17 years as an exemplary employee.
Cherished Angel Award Congratulations to Ricki Shapiro for being one of only 7 individuals to ever receive the CHAI Cherished Angel Award. Ricki has served several terms on the CHAI Board over a number of years and is finishing her final term on the Executive Committee where she has served since 2011. She Co-chaired the Advocate Advisory Committee for 4 years and played an important role in CHAI’s fundraising success as a co-chair of 6 of the last CHAI LIFE events as well as co-chair of the Development Committee. Her co-chairs of both committees praise her for being extremely organized and prepared for any task. She and her husband Gabe have been contributors to CHAI for 35 years and she is known for her kindness and willingness to support other parents and families. A true angel and cherished member of the CHAI community!
Ricki and Gabe Shapiro enjoying first CHAI LIFE event in 2015. It was Ricki’s wonderful idea to hold the event at Pirch in NorthPark Center. That event set the stage for all the highly successful events that have followed!
Volunteer of the Year Award
The Young Men’s Service League of Episcopal School of Dallas is an organization of moms and high school sons who do service projects together. YMSL has been coming to CHAI for five years and the residents always look forward to this group of eager volunteers. Under the guidance of Chudar Schlehuber since the summer of 2019, the group has been coming to our group homes for 5 years and getting to know our CHAI residents by playing pool and basketball and during COVID used Zoom to provide cooking classes, games and even an online concert.

WE WILL MISS YOU, RON DILL! Ron Dill has been a treasured member of the CHAI staff for 16 years and will be retiring from his role as Assistant Living Manger on March 27. He has touched the lives of those in his care, their families and especially the other CHAI staff members who have worked alongside of him. Here’s what some of them have to say about Ron:

10+ CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF CONTRIBUTIONS TO CHAI CHAI faced numerous challenges in 2021 that resulted in extra expense. At the same time that we were facing these stressful issues, our community was stepping up in extraordinary ways. Our 2021 Annual Campaign broke all previous records. We had more annual campaign donors than ever before—354-- and broke through the $300,000 mark for the first time. It was perfect timing to reach such milestones, but our fundraising achievements did not happen in just one year. This success is a result of nearly four decades of support from individuals who have assured that CHAI could provide programs and services to all who needed it, regardless of their ability to pay the full cost of care.
