The Shalom Staiman Eruv encircles the Binghamton University campus, off campus housing, the Marriott Residence Hotel and adjacent areas in Vestal. An Eruv needs to be inspected weekly to make sure it is fully operational. Sections of an Eruv can be impacted by the elements and may need to be reconstructed.

Emily Fleischman '17 was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome (TS) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) when she was 6 years old. After suffering shame and bullying for years she turned the tables and advocacy and leadership became her key focus. Emily put a face to the conditions by lecturing at schools and universities as New Jersey’s Youth Ambassador for the Tourette Association of America (TAA). She lobbied Congress to sign an act advancing research for neurological diseases, wrote a children’s book called Emily's Tic, mentored high school kids, and expanded her lectures to include hospitals. She is currently on the national Tourette Association of America Committee of Professional Nurses. She works as a nurse at Lenox Hill hospital in NYC.

From powerbrokers in Moscow to President Nelson Mandela, from tycoons in Argentina to rural Alaska, to the CDC during the recent pandemic and the front lines during the first months of the war between Russia and the Ukraine, Rabbi Avrohom Berkowitz's life has been a series of truly remarkable encounters. Prepare to be enthralled and inspired, and to be challenged in rethinking what you are capable of accomplishing!

The Kollel offers high level learning for students possessed of advanced skills and familiarity with classic texts and meforshim.
