THE SHALOM STAIMAN BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY ERUV The Shalom Staiman Eruv encircles the Binghamton University campus, off campus housing, the Marriott Residence Hotel and adjacent areas in Vestal. An Eruv needs to be inspected weekly to make sure it is fully operational. Sections of an Eruv can be impacted by the elements and may need to be reconstructed. TORAH TENT
is a unique program offering focused mini courses aimed at exploring new realms of Jewish thought and philosophy. Whether it’s Jewish history, ethics or digging beneath the surface of our rituals and traditions, jLearn focuses on the “why” and the “how” of Judaism. Participate in a course that interests YOU. Upon registering, you will be asked to list your time preferences. Class times will be scheduled to accommodate interested participants. All
classes will begin during the week of October 28.
Choose from: GREAT DEBATES IN JEWISH HISTORY Mrs. Rivkah Slonim A fascinating look at six pivotal debates that engulfed the Jewish people at different periods in our history. We will look at the background, motives, key events and wide-ranging legacies of these debates. Five sessions: 75 minutes each
SOUL MAPS: TANYA IN FIVE Mrs. Rochel Chein This class uses ancient mystical teachings in a modern way to help us understand the psychology of our soul. It answers questions as: what is the source of guilt, conflict, and confusion? What are useful strategies for developing joy and direction in everyday life? Five sessions: 60 Minutes each
PRAYER AT THE PODIUM Rabbi Zalman Chein Leading the congregation in prayer is a privilege and a responsibility. In this course we will take a look at the ins and outs of this important role.
