Our President RE-UNITED…and it STILL feels so good. That’s right. Still! Good things come to those who wait – even in the midst of a never-ending pandemic. And for our new Chair of the Board, Ana Chaoui, patience has been a one of her strongest virtues since COVID-19 began. Thank you, Ana for being the beacon of optimism and light as we re-convene this early November Friday after pausing our conference this summer due to the Delta Variant. It has been a journey, but one we are honored to be on with you. Today, as we RE-UNITE, we coalesce around a number of relevant topics: from economic recovery and human resources to mental health and new opportunities. Our speakers today are the leading voices shaping our community and we thank them for saying yes to us. COVID has ravaged so many of our local businesses – and our lives – and many of us have experienced great loss. Now, it is a time to heal the heartbreak and RE-UNITING is a wonderful salve for our wounds. Our goal, as we continue to be the essential organization in Coral Gables and beyond, is to make sure you are re-energized, re-focused, re-invigorated and re-investing in your collective future. Joshua Young FORMULA 1

Josh Young joined the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix in March, 2021 as Vice President of Ticket Sales & Service. He transitioned from a similar role with the Miami Dolphins where he oversaw the sales and service of all ticketing products, including suites, luxury, and season ticket memberships. Young joined the Dolphins from Los Angeles FC, where he was the Vice President of Sales and Service. He formerly held roles with the Cleveland Browns as Director of Ticket Sales and the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League as Senior Director of Ticket Sales.

Mayor Daniella Levine Cava MIAMI-DADE COUNTY

Daniella Levine Cava was elected Miami-Dade County’s first-ever woman Mayor in November 2020. She enters the Mayor’s office following a 40-year career as a relentless advocate for South Florida families in public service and elected leadership. As Miami-Dade County’s Mayor, she oversees a metropolitan government with more than 28,000 employees serving nearly three-million residents, managing an annual budget of approximately $9 billion. Since taking office, she has worked to protect lives and livelihoods by deploying a countywide operation to distribute coronavirus vaccines efficiently and equitably across Miami-Dade. Mayor Levine Cava’s administration is focused on building a stronger, more inclusive, more resilient Miami-Dade: prioritizing reforms to make our county safer and prevent gun violence through the Peace and Prosperity Plan; restoring and reinvigorating a thriving economy that delivers economic security for Miami-Dade businesses and families and attracts new industries; saving Biscayne Bay and building and protecting our environment; and directly engaging with

residents to make local government more responsive, transparent, and accountable.

Ron Magill ZOO MIAMI

Ron has worked with wildlife for over 40 years. He is the host of HITN’s national wildlife documentary program, Mundo Salvaje con Ron Magill. As Zoo Miami’s “Goodwill Ambassador,” he has made frequent television appearances on many programs including, National Geographic Explorer, the Discovery Networks, the Today Show, Good Morning America, The Late Show, CBS This Morning, Dateline, and CNN, as well as on Spanish networks Univision and Telemundo. In addition, he has written and produced many wildlife articles and award-winning photographs that have appeared in publications and galleries around the world. He has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Asia and Tropical America while developing and directing conservation projects and Emmy-Award winning documentaries focusing on the wildlife of those regions. Other than Zoo Miami, Ron’s proudest professional accomplishment is the establishment of the “Ron Magill Conservation Endowment” at the Zoo Miami Foundation. This endowment is the largest of its kind at the zoo and provides tens of thousands of dollars annually to wildlife conservation by providing annual scholarships and supporting field conservation projects designed to protect wildlife where they are naturally found.

Karim Elish

FLORIDA POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY Dr. Karim Elish is an assistant professor of computer science at Florida Polytechnic University. Before joining Florida Poly in 2016, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Associate Director of the Information Analytics and Visualization Center at Purdue University-Fort Wayne. Elish is directing the development of curriculum in mobile computing security through a $70,500 grant received from the Florida Center for Cybersecurity. He has published

Johnny C. Taylor, Jr.

SOCIETY OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, is President and CEO of SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management. With over 300,000 members in 165 countries, SHRM is the largest HR professional association in the world, impacting the lives of 115 million workers. A nationally bestselling author, Mr. Taylor is a sought-after voice on all matters affecting work. Adrianne McCullars, PhD

ROGER’S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH Adrianne McCullars, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. McCullars obtained her PhD from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. She went on to an accredited internship at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where she worked in a university counseling center. Then, completed an accredited post-doctoral fellowship at the University of South Florida where she worked half time between the university counseling center and the student health services center providing behavioral health care. Dr. McCullars did her final post-doctoral summer rotation at Rogers where she was offered a position and has been with Rogers Tampa since 2017. At current, Dr. McCullars is the associate

clinical director at Rogers Behavioral Health and functions in both the Tampa and Miami locations. In Tampa, Dr. McCullars oversees the adult programming at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care. At the Miami location, Dr. McCullars oversees the entire clinic, including both child/adolescent and adult programming at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care. Dr. McCullars provides supervision and training that promotes evidence-based treatments for OCD, anxiety, trauma, substance use, eating disorders, mood disorders, and depression. Outside of her full-time position at Rogers, Dr. McCullars owns and works part-time at her private practice where she provides pre-employment psychological evaluations and other services to police departments, hospitals, private security firms, and both public and private school systems in the Tampa, FL area.

Kim Ng

MIAMI MARLINS Kim Ng joined the Marlins organization in November 2020, becoming the fifth person in club history to hold the top position in baseball operations. She is the highest-ranking woman in baseball operations among the 30 MLB teams and the first woman hired to the General Manager position by any of the professional men’s sports teams in the North American Major Leagues. Ms. Ng has spent more than 30 years in Major League Baseball, including a combined 21 years of experience in the front offices for the Chicago White Sox (1990-96), New York Yankees (1998- 2001), and Los Angeles Dodgers (2002-11). She has been an integral part of eight postseason appearances, including six League Championship series and three World Championships. Ms. Ng joined the Marlins having spent the previous nine years as Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations with Major League Baseball and the highest ranking Asian-American female baseball executive. During her tenure at MLB, she directed international baseball operations, working with the front offices of the 30 Major League Clubs and many other baseball leagues and entities around the world. In this capacity, she led a team that set policy for and enforced international signing rules, established MLB’s first system for registering international players for signing and

managed protocols for signing international players, raised the standards for international baseball academies, and negotiated agreements with international winter leagues. She also focused her efforts on growing the game of Baseball, leading MLB’s efforts to improve the quality of play, caliber of talent, and rate of participation for amateur baseball around the world while also supervising MLB playing initiatives for girls and women. Additionally, Ms. Ng served on MLB’s Diversity Pipeline Advisory Committee.

Ms. Ng graduated from the University of Chicago, where she played softball and earned a degree in Public Policy. She has appeared on Forbes’ list of the Most Influential Minorities in Sports, Forbes’ list of the Most Influential Women in Sports, and Adweek’s Most Powerful Women in Sports. She also serves on the Anti-Defamation League’s Sports Leadership Council. Most recently, she was named one of InStyle Magazine’s Badass 50 Women, and included among the South Florida Business Journal’s Power Leaders. Ms. Ng also took part in the 2021 Presidential Inauguration as part of the Celebrating America event.

David Whitaker

GREATER MIAMI CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU David Whitaker returned to Miami-Dade County and the GMCVB in August 2021 after serving as President & CEO of Choose Chicago for the past five years. Choose Chicago promotes Chicago as a major international leisure, business, arts and culture, sports and special events center. Choose Chicago is also responsible for promoting, confirming, and servicing major conventions, trade shows and events at McCormick Place – North America’s largest convention center, boasting over 2.7 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space. Choose Chicago also manages the Chicago Sports Commission and has been responsible for dozens of major sporting bids. Most recently they hosted the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, the 2019 Laver Cup International Tennis, as well as Copa America and FIFA matches each year, the 2017 MLS All-Star Game, the 2017 NCAA Frozen Four, the 2018 NBA Lottery and the 2017 NHL Draft. Chicago routinely hosts the NCAA Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Basketball Conference Championship Tournaments and annual International Rugby Tournaments and was

recently awarded the bid to host the NCAA Men’s Mid-East Regional Finals. David’s first opportunity to lead a destination marketing organization began in 2007 when he was appointed President & CEO of Tourism Toronto. As North America’s fourth largest and most ethnically diverse city, Tourism Toronto supports the sales and services for the Metro Toronto Convention Center, assist in promoting major festivals, was the host of World Pride in 2014, the Pan American Games in 2015, and the NBA AllStar Game in 2016.
