United Way inspires collaborations to impact community improvement. United Way believes that we are stronger together. They stretch already limited resources through strategic partnerships and investments in programs that avoid a duplication of both service and funding.

In the past year, the United Way and their Community Impact programs has served over 26,000 local residents and reinvested over $2.3 million dollars in grants, supplies, and volunteer time back into Washington County. 45 local nonprofit agencies have benefited from the services of the United Way.

United Way maintains a small staff and operates as a primarily volunteer-led and volunteer-governed organization. Their lean operations model and fiscal responsibility enables them to maximize donations and impact more lives within the community. What’s the differentiator? United Way invests your donations into programs with the most urgent, demonstrated need.

United Way holds grant recipients accountable. You can trust that your donations are invested in community impact programs that demonstrate a targeted, measurable return on investment. United Way is continuously evaluating program outcomes, results, testimonials, and administrative policies for effectiveness.

United Way is not just a grantmaker. They facilitate numerous programs and groups including Youth United in three WCPS high schools and the area’s largest volunteer effort—Day of Caring. In 2020, even during a pandemic, Day of Caring continued. While socially distant and completing primarily outdoor projects, 90 teams completed 71 service projects in a single day! In addition to the single day of service, Day of Caring was expanded to multiple events over multiple weeks to include a blood drive, book fair, personal hygiene supply drive, a baby supply drive, and more.

Trust that your United Way will continue to inspire all citizens to LIVE UNITED while fulfilling our mission by giving, advocating, and volunteering.
