For 33 years, the Gaye McGovern Insurance Agency, Inc. has been helping clients build bridges between the present and their goals, hopes and dreams. Gaye McGovern, her husband Bill McGovern, and her team listen and then offer options available from State Farm Insurance Company and its affiliates. People use the products and services available to cross a bridge to their goals, hopes and dreams. By listening intently to clients, a knowledge bridge is built of ideas and options. The advice is free. The decisions are up to the clients. The agency builds on State Farm’s foundation of quality service, relationships, mutual trust, integrity and financial strength.

Gaye follows her family tradition of community service in many ways including a major focus on encouraging the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown as a local, affordable, accessible, high quality bridge to education beyond community college. She serves on the USMH Board of Advisors and chairs their scholarship committee. She was the first woman president of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the first woman chair of The Greater Hagerstown Committee. Additional current volunteer efforts include The Washington County Arts Council, Meritus Health System, St. John’s Episcopal Church and The Hagerstown Rotary Club among others. Gaye graduated from both Leadership Maryland and Leadership Washington County. The Herald Mail recognized her as a Woman on the Move in 1993. The Chamber named her Small Business Person of the year in 1990 and Business Volunteer of the Year in 2009. In 2011, Church Women United, Inc., United Nations Office, awarded her its Human Rights Award for her leadership as a mentor and social activist in human rights and human development. In 2014, the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce jointly named her Business Person of the Year. Before becoming a State Farm agent, she spent 24 years as a teacher, counselor and school administrator.
Bill McGovern is an integral part of the agency team. He also volunteers extensively, primarily with the Hagerstown Kiwanis, The Maryland Symphony Orchestra and St. Ann’s Church. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel in 1991.
