Mr. Day focuses on navigating the maze of laws and regulations directed toward seniors, which has become increasingly daunting and complex as the intricacies of Medicare, Medicaid and Medigap become more difficult to understand. Mr. Day and his team, with more than 50 years combined Elder Law experience, excel in providing strategic, professional help for clients to understand the systems in place that affect their lives and the lives of those who care for them.

Mr. Day, a graduate of the University of Denver College of Law, concentrated his studies in Taxation. In 1976, he opened his practice in Hagerstown, handling cases in corporate, real estate and a variety of other civil law areas throughout western Maryland. Now 40 years later, this early work on Taxation continues to help Mr. Day and his team of attorneys and paralegals navigate the challenges for clients and their caregivers as they maneuver through the regulations that often leave them confused and vulnerable.

With Americans now living well beyond the age of 60, many find nursing home care necessary for a spouse or loved one with physical or mental complications. Applying for programs to assist with such care can be lengthy, time consuming and cumbersome. Plus, every situation is different. Laws and regulations change frequently, making the entire process even more difficult to comprehend.

The Law Offices of Michael G. Day & Associates, P.C., works diligently to protect client assets by taking advantage of various options that are legal and frequently multifaceted. The entire team commits to protecting a healthy spouse from the potentially devastating financial impact of long-term care. Within the coming years, the last of the Baby Boomers will reach or surpass 65 years of age. The percentage of older Americans will dramatically increase, making it more important for that group to enhance their awareness of aging issues. To provide the most up-todate information for seniors, Day hosts a live radio show every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. on WJEJ AM 1240 radio. Day hosted a television show, Contemporary Retirement, on WDVM for more than 20 years, with both the radio and television shows gaining a wide following as he covered health, financial planning and legal issues of interest to seniors. Over the years, the Law Offices of Michael G. Day & Associates has also provided free area seminars to thousands of seniors. At these events, attendees receive key points and options to consider to protect their financial future and well-being.

Mr. Day is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation (CELA), a certification that is recognized in most states but not in Maryland. He is also a past member of the Elder Law Section Council of the Maryland Bar and is designated as a Maryland Super Lawyer by Maryland Super Lawyer magazine.

Mr. Day stays active in his community, holding key positions in a number of community organizations that positively impact not only seniors, but the entire population. As a founding trustee of the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, and a past and current volunteer and supporter of organizations including United Way of Washington County, Holly Place, Saint James School, Mason-Dixon Council, Boy Scouts of America, Meritus Healthcare Foundation and San Mar Children’s Home, he along with his firm, is committed to maintaining the quality of life for retirees and all residents who call Washington County home.
