The first stones of our much-loved Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption were laid more than 165 years ago under the leadership and loving care of Reverend Edward Murphy. Serving first as a parish and as our Cathedral since 1904, St. Mary’s is the Mother church of the Diocese of Fall River. The Cathedral is the seat of our Bishop, the spiritual home for our Diocesan liturgies, and the spiritual center from which our belonging as parishioners flows.
