Influence of Processing Quality on Fracture Behaviour of High-Strength Bolts
- How New National Standards Are Driving the Development of the Fastener Industry

In the intricate network of global manufacturing, fasteners, though small in size, are widely known in China as the "rice of industry". The development of Haiyan Yousun Enterprise Co., Ltd. ("Yousun") exemplifies this transformation, evolving from scale expansion to value enhancement. By successfully transitioning from trade to manufacturing, Yousun has carved out a distinct competitive edge in the global market through strategic focus and specialized expertise in screws.
Yousun factory is specialized in producing wood timber screws, chipboard screws and drywall screws, bimetal screws and any customized high-end screws.
Yousun was spun off from CHINFAST in 2009 as a fully owned subsidiary, in response to supply chain fluctuations, rising costs, and product commercialization. By leveraging the local industrial cluster, the company evolved from a pure trader into an integrated enterprise with end-toend R&D, production, and sales capabilities. This shift not only strengthened its manufacturing foundation but also generated significant "1+1>2" synergies between trading and manufacturing, forming a sustainable engine for global expansion.
With a team of over 70 people and around 150 sets of equipment, Yousun currently produces 1,000 tons monthly. The company is now pivoting towards a grander vision of intelligent manufacturing. The cornerstone of this vision is

a new factory slated to commence in 2027, which will not only double output to 2,000 tons but also house its own heat treatment line, a cutting-edge lab, and an R&D hub. All dedicated to one single goal: crafting China's premier small screws.

Despite turbulence in global trade and the reshaping of supply chains, Yousun is doubling down on a clear and confident strategy: a deeper push into the high-end fasteners' industry. The company's decision leverages its unique edge, particularly the benefit of the EU's AD676 average tax rate and ownership of several essential patents for small screws.
Yousun's management believes enduring success in demanding markets comes from being tested and trusted. Rather than chasing every trend, the company concentrates its resources on fortified, high-value segments. Each

innovation and quality upgrade strengthens its premium market position through a disciplined strategy: focused impact over broad reach, and victory by capability, not luck.
Yousun is actively advancing its green and smart transformation to meet global standards like the EU's CBAM. Key initiatives include pursuing Green Factory and ISO14001 certifications, tracking high-performance materials and digital technologies, and strengthening resilience of supply chain. The company is also enhancing cross-functional collaboration while investing in talent development and intellectual property to build long-term competitiveness.
As one of the key enterprises in China's fastener industry, Yousun is confident that China will remain a vital global manufacturing hub in the next decade. The company believes the industry's sustainable growth depends on shifting from quantitative expansion to qualitative excellence. Guided by this philosophy, Yousun focuses on upstream industrial chain integration and core technology development, forging a path of "upward breakthrough" through specialization and sustainable practices.

On April 10, 2026, local time, the global fastener industry saw a major cross-border acquisition as Germany's renowned Kamax Group and Italy's Fontana Group formally signed an equity acquisition agreement, under which Fontana Group will fully acquire the North Hesse-based fastener manufacturer. The signing process for this transaction has been completed, though final closing remains subject to approval by relevant regulatory authorities in various jurisdictions.
This acquisition will further solidify Fontana Group's leading position in the global fastener market, continue to strengthen the group's industrial footprint in its core European home market, accelerate its global business expansion, and reinforce its core competitiveness in international fastener manufacturing and supply.
According to a warning from the European Fastener Distributors Association (EFDA), since the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) took full effect in January 2026, it has severely impacted importers of screws, nuts, and other fasteners, with import costs for some products surging by 30% to 50%. EFDA points out that the root cause of this cost explosion is a structural error by the European Commission: due to the lack of a comprehensive verification system, importers currently cannot rely on actual emission data and are forced to use excessively high default values that do not reflect actual industrial emissions. Furthermore, a severe shortage of certified verification bodies (expected to receive qualification approval only by summer 2027) has exacerbated compliance difficulties for companies.
EFDA President Andreas Bertaggia warned that cumbersome bureaucratic procedures are undermining the global competitiveness of European end products such as automobiles and machinery, and urgently called on EU Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra to take immediate corrective measures to adjust the system's accounting boundaries and default values.

The European Commission has published the first price of Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regulation certificates for 2026 Q1, set at €75.36 per tCO2e - marking an important milestone in the implementation of CBAM and enabling companies to calculate CBAM related costs with greater certainty, particularly when using default values.
For 2026, CBAM certificate prices will be determined on a quarterly basis. Therefore, there will be four prices in 2026 (one per quarter). Each price will only apply to emissions in CBAM goods imported into the Union during the quarter it relates to.
"Each quarterly price will be calculated by the Commission as the average of EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) auction clearing prices," comments the European Commission. "This ensures a fair and consistent alignment with the EU carbon market. From 2027 onwards, the Commission will calculate and publish weekly prices."
Although authorised CBAM declarants will only begin purchasing CBAM certificates from February 2027 (covering their 2026 imports) the Commission hopes that early publication of these costs will enhance transparency, provide stakeholders with timely information and reduce the risk of inconsistent or unofficial price estimates circulating in the market.
"By making these prices available in advance, the Commission establishes a clear and reliable reference point for all stakeholders, helping them plan ahead. A full overview of all 2026 price publication dates is available online," concludes the Commission.

The era of preferential mortgages has come to an end. Construction, a key segment for metal consumption in Russia, is stagnating. Since the beginning of 2026, the decline in metal consumption in the construction industry has been minus 10%. In mechanical engineering, rolled metal consumption was minus 30% by the end of 2025. In the automotive industry, conditions must be created to increase localization. Currently, semi-knocked-down auto assembly is underway, which does not support rolled metal consumption in the automotive industry. The oil and gas industry showed a minus 30% in metal consumption last year. The decline was more than 20% at the beginning of the year. Many large projects are "shifted to the right."
As a result, the first quarter saw a dramatic decline in capacity utilization at the largest metallurgical companies, to 64%. At the same time, importers are strengthening their position in the Russian market.
Companies are forced to export even with negative profitability to maintain capacity utilization and prevent a sharp decline in production. In the fall, when the season of declining demand for metal products begins, staff reductions at metallurgical plants can be expected.
Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, noted that the crisis in the industry is not short-term – it is a systemic issue both in macroeconomic terms and within the country.
"A sharp reduction in investment programs is hampering our future," noted Viktor Semenov, Advisor to the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and General Director of the Central Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy by I.P. Bardin. According to him, measures to stimulate the domestic market could include the construction and mechanical engineering industries, which need development, and protecting the domestic market.
Andrey Nikitin, Russian Transport Minister and Head of Russian Railways, visited the high-speed train production facility. Russian Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin, together with Oleg Belozerov, CEO of Russian Railways, visited the train production facility at the Ural Locomotives plant.
They inspected the construction of new facilities, including a design center, a traction equipment test site, and a workshop designed for commissioning high-speed rail (HSR) trains. The facility is currently estimated to be approximately 65% complete.
The delegation also toured the existing production lines, where individual components for future high-speed trains are already being manufactured.
Of the train's 91 key components, 29 have been certified to date, and more than 60 components are in various stages of testing. Solutions developed by railway
research institutes are gradually being implemented into production. All created technologies and developments will be owned by the Russian Federation.
The visit participants also discussed the development of a production base for the serial production of highspeed trains. The first two high-speed electric trains are scheduled to undergo certification testing next year. A total of 43 trains are planned for production by 2030.
The construction of Russia's first high-speed railway line, Moscow – St. Petersburg, is being implemented as part of the national "Efficient Transport System" project. The approximately 700-kilometer railway will run through six regions of the country, home to 30 million people. Design and construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway are scheduled for 2024-2028, with commissioning scheduled for 2028.

The former GM site in St. Petersburg has been modernized and prepared for the assembly of cars of the new Russian brand, JELAND. As reported by the AGR holding in mid-April, the first cars have already been assembled there. Production was established as part of a global strategic partnership between the Russian company and the large Chinese company Defetoo. "The assembly shop was created as a result of a comprehensive technical retooling of the plant," they noted in AGR.
The assembly line was organized using five conveyor lines with 88 workstations. The line was designed to accommodate the assembly of several body styles. The complete retooling of the former GM plant was completed in eight months. Launching full-cycle auto production will allow the plant to reach its design capacity of up to 100,000 vehicles per year.
The project was implemented jointly by AGR Holding and Defetoo within the Kaluga automotive cluster. Modern 1.6-liter, 1.5-liter, and 2-liter gasoline turbocharged engines have been delivered to the Kaluga plant. Initial production capacity will be 150,000 engines per year. This figure is planned to be increased to 300,000 in the future. Production was launched immediately using locally sourced components. Key engine components and parts from Russian suppliers, including pistons and spark plugs, are used in the assembly process.
The plant has created approximately 500 jobs. The next step in the plant's development in the second half of 2026 will be the launch of machining of key engine components, including the cylinder block and cylinder head.
The Izhevsk Experimental Mechanical Plant Has Increased Its Production Capacity for Durable Fasteners for Oil Production Equipment Made from In-House

The plant can now produce 1.7 times more fasteners annually, reaching 3.16 million units. Investments totaled 796 million rubles. Durable fasteners are used to connect sections of electric submersible pumps (ESP) for oil production, including those operating in aggressive environments. Durable fasteners include bolts, screws, studs, and nuts. The main consumers of durable fasteners for ESPs are the country's largest pumping equipment manufacturers.

based alloys, including the alloy's chemical composition, is patented. Our in-house certified specialized laboratory allows us to test products and meet customer demands. As a result, the company is significantly increasing the production of durable fasteners with mechanical properties that exceed those of foreign counterparts," said Anton Kuznetsov, CEO of Izhevsk Experimental Mechanical Plant.
After reaching its design capacity, the plant plans to almost completely meet market demand and produce up to 1 million nuts, up to 600,000 bolts, up to 760,000 studs, and up to 800,000 screws of various designs annually.

The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade of Ukraine has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into the import of certain steel bars and angles originating in the Republic of Türkiye.
The decision, announced on March 14, 2026, in the official publication Governmental Courier, was taken following a complaint submitted by ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih. The complaint alleges that imports from Türkiye were carried out at dumped prices and caused harm to the domestic industry in Ukraine.
The Commission concluded, based on the evaluations of the Ministry of Economy, that the complaint contains sufficient evidence. According to the review, it was stated that the imports in question may have been made below fair market value, that the dumping margin cannot be considered minimal, and that the volume of imports is not negligible.
The investigation covers hot-rolled steel products with specific dimensions and technical characteristics. Accordingly, the products included in the scope are as follows:
Steel bars of circular cross-section: Hot-rolled bars made of iron, non-alloy and other alloy steels, with a diameter of up to and including 40 mm
Steel bars of rectangular cross-section: Products with a thickness of up to 12 mm and a width of up to 60 mm
Steel bars of square cross-section: Bars with a side length of up to 20 mm
These products may be loosely coiled and may feature surface deformations such as ribs, grooves, or indentations formed during the rolling process.
In addition, the investigation also includes: L-shaped angles with a height of less than 80 mm, various profiles and special sections that can be inscribed within a square not exceeding 80 mm.
Certain steel grades (such as 55С2 and 60С2А) are excluded from the scope. The products are classified under multiple tariff codes according to Ukraine's foreign economic activity classification system (UKT FEA).
In its assessment, the Commission noted a deterioration in several economic indicators of the domestic producer during the period from 2021 to the first half of 2025. These include:

a decline in production and capacity utilization, a decrease in sales volumes, a reduction in domestic market share, an increase in costs, a decline in profitability and financial results, and a reduction in employment.
It was also stated that the average import prices of the products from Türkiye were below the production costs of domestic manufacturers, thereby suppressing price increases in the local market.
The investigation will be conducted by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. Interested parties (including producers, importers, exporters, etc.) may:
register as interested parties within 30 days submit written comments and information within 60 days
The submitted information must be based on factual evidence and provided in Ukrainian. Confidential information must be submitted in both confidential and non-confidential versions.
The Commission's decision dated March 10, 2026, entered into force upon the publication of the notice.
Officials state that the investigation will examine the extent of dumping practices and their impact on the domestic industry in detail, and that further measures may be considered based on the findings.

The contraction in global markets and the rise of protectionist measures have led to a significant shift in Türkiye's steel sector growth strategy. Chairman of the Turkish Steel Exporters'Association (ÇİB), Adnan Aslan, stated that the sector will now prioritize nearby and neighboring markets over distant ones, emphasizing that future growth will be driven by high value-added products.
The Turkish steel sector closed 2025 with an increase in export volume. Throughout the year, steel exports reached 19.432 million tons, with a total value of $16.5 billion. The average export price per ton stood at $851. Despite the decline in unit prices, the increase in volume demonstrated the sector's ability to adapt to global competitive conditions.
Adnan Aslan highlighted that global steel prices remain under significant pressure, mainly due to China's high export volumes and the global supply surplus. He noted that in such an environment, growth can only be achieved by focusing on the right markets and adopting flexible strategies.
In the new period, the sector's focus has shifted toward geographically closer markets. The European Union, nonEU European countries, the Balkans, Eastern Europe, and neighboring countries are among the primary target markets. Aslan emphasized that while distant markets face rising logistics costs and trade barriers, nearby markets offer advantages such as faster delivery, flexible production, and stronger commercial ties.
In 2025, steel exports to the European Union reached 7.9 million tons, while exports to non-EU European countries stood at 3.7 million tons. Europe maintained its critical importance, accounting for approximately 60% of total exports.
The second pillar of the sector's transformation is the transition to high value-added products. While long products and rebar still hold a significant share in exports, this structure is not considered sustainable. In the coming period, the share
of products such as cold-rolled, galvanized, and coated steel, as well as fasteners and stainless steel, is expected to increase.
This transformation aims to move Türkiye away from direct price competition with low-cost producers such as China and India, enabling a more sustainable export structure.
Rising quotas and tariffs in global trade continue to challenge the sector. Therefore, regional growth and product diversification are no longer a choice but a necessity.
For 2026, the sector aims to reach 20 million tons in export volume and $17 billion in value. In line with these goals, deepening in nearby markets and increasing the share of high value-added products will be key priorities.
Meanwhile, the Steel Networking Summits 2026, to be held in Istanbul on October 25–27, will bring together key global players in the steel industry. The event is expected to host over 500 industry professionals from more than 80 countries and will address the economic, political, and trade dynamics shaping the future of the steel sector.

In the Yangtze River Delta region of China lies Haiyan, Zhejiang – a city renowned in the industry as the "Hometown of Fasteners". Thousands of fastener companies have gathered here, forming a complete industrial chain from raw material supply to finished product distribution. In 2009, Zhejiang Hystron Auto Parts Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Zhejiang Hystron") started quietly on this fertile ground. Fifteen years later, this enterprise, specializing in non-standard nuts and custom-shaped fasteners, has successfully entered the supply chains of manufacturing powerhouses such as Germany, the United States, and Japan, becoming a formidable Chinese force in the global fastener market.
In 2009, as the aftershocks of the global financial crisis continued, Mr. Chen, Chairman of Zhejiang Hystron, chose to start his business in Haiyan. "Haiyan is located in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, close to major manufacturing hubs like Shanghai, Ningbo, and Suzhou. It has comprehensive
supporting facilities and convenient transportation." Mr. Chen recalled. More critically, as a fastener industry cluster, Haiyan boasts mature upstream and downstream resources, and the local government has consistently provided policy support and industrial guidance, creating a favorable ecosystem for the company's beginnings.
In its early days, Zhejiang Hystron did not enter the fiercely competitive standard parts market. Instead, it focused on the niche of non-standard nuts and customshaped components. "Creating market opportunities through differentiation" - this precise positioning laid the cornerstone for the company's growth. Today, Zhejiang Hystron's main products include automotive standard nuts, non-standard nuts, furniture nuts, and various custom-shaped fasteners. Its core competitiveness lies in the R&D and manufacturing of non-standard and custom-shaped parts. The company has a professional technical team capable of providing high-end customers with full-process services – from product design and process optimization to mass production.

From ISO 9001 in 2012 to IATF 16949 in 2021, Zhejiang Hystron's system certification has advanced almost every few years. Mr. Chen candidly stated: "Competition in the fastener industry is becoming increasingly intense. To achieve long-term development, companies must continuously improve quality and enter high-end markets." IATF 16949, as the authoritative quality standard for the automotive industry, not only standardizes internal management and enhances quality control capabilities but also serves as a key qualification for entering automotive OEM supply chains, significantly boosting the company's recognition in high-end international markets.
Since its establishment, over 90% of Zhejiang Hystron's products have been exported overseas, reaching customers in manufacturing powerhouses such as Germany, the United States, and Japan. However, the path to global markets has not been smooth. "The biggest challenge comes from external uncertainties," Mr. Chen listed: trade frictions, exchange rate fluctuations, payment risks due to volatility in overseas markets, cargo backlogs during the pandemic, and the energy crisis - each shock brought uncontrollable risks. "But we are very fortunate to have the supportive national policies, which gives us the confidence to explore broader international markets."
"Customized production according to customer samples and drawings" is one of Zhejiang Hystron's core services. Through years of technical accumulation, the company has established a standardized, efficient response process. When drawings or samples are received from customers, the customized ERP system quickly breaks down tasks and distributes them to all relevant departments. For conventional non-standard parts, sample debugging can be completed in as little as one week; for complex customshaped parts, the longest lead time is about one month. After sample approval, mass production begins, with strict control over process standards and product quality.
In terms of talent team development, Zhejiang Hystron has developed a unique mechanism. The company encourages employees to improve their education, skills, and cross-functional abilities, offering corresponding rewards. It cooperates with colleges to recruit relevant talents and maintains long-term partnerships with external training institutions to enhance management capabilities. For core technical personnel, the company grants greater management autonomy, room for trial and error, and superior working conditions, along with abundant training resources
and learning opportunities. In the future, equity incentives will also be considered. "We want core talents to see themselves as the owners of the company, to achieve independent and innovative management in their respecitive fields, and to retain talent through flexible working space and competitive salaries," said Mr. Chen.

Facing global challenges such as intensified industry competition, raw material price fluctuations, and rising energy costs, Zhejiang Hystron's strategic focus for the next three to five years remains clear: stay committed to the core field of high-end non-standard and custom-shaped fasteners, continue to deepen technological R&D, and consolidate existing market advantages. At the same time, the company will flexibly adjust its strategic direction in light of Chinese and international market trends, policy guidance, and its own realities, exploring new tracks when appropriate to promote high-quality and sustainable development.
Mr. Chen believes that fasteners are the foundation of manufacturing and an irreplaceable link in the global supply chain. "In the future, we will continue to uphold the spirit of craftsmanship, deepen technological innovation, strictly control product quality, and serve global customers with customized, high-end products." At the same time, Zhejiang Hystron will actively follow the trends of green development and intelligent manufacturing, driving process upgrades to move toward higher quality, greater intelligence, and lower carbon emissions.
From a small factory in Haiyan focused on non-standard nuts to a company whose products reach manufacturing powerhouses like Germany, the United States, and Japan, Zhejiang Hystron has proven over fifteen years: excelling in a specialized niche is in itself a powerful competitive edge.

In Yueqing, Wenzhou, China, Wenzhou Gongyou Automatic Packaging Equipment Co., Ltd. has spent 15 years evolving from a single weighing packaging machine into an industry leader with core technologies such as AI vision counting, multicomponent mixed packaging, and integrated CCD sorting machines. In this issue, CFM interviews General Manager Mr. Yu Jinxing to share how this Chinese intelligent manufacturer has broken new ground in the fastener packaging secto

Looking back, Mr. Yu Jinxing, General Manager of Wenzhou Gongyou, recalls that when the company started technology R&D in 2007, a vast number of screw and hardware factories nearby were almost entirely dependent on manual sorting, counting, and packaging. "It wasn't that we actively chose this industry - the industry's needs pushed us forward." At that time, manual packaging was plagued with problems: difficulty hiring workers, high labor costs, counting errors leading to mix-ups or missing parts, and constant customer complaints. Companies wanted to expand capacity, but the packaging process was the bottleneck.
Off-the-shelf equipment existed, but general-purpose packaging machines had poor accuracy, frequently jammed, and malfunctioned when specifications changed Imported equipment was expensive, with slow after-sales service that small and medium enterprises could not afford. Mr. Yu summarizes: "Manual work couldn't get it right, generalpurpose machines couldn't be used, and imported machines were too expensive. It was precisely in this gap that we decided to develop automatic packaging equipment dedicated to screws and hardware."
Wenzhou Gongyou was formally established in 2011. The key turning point was the shift from weighing to vision technology. Vision technology upgraded Wenzhou Gongyou from a single equipment provider to an intelligent packaging solution supplier. Today, its product portfolio covers vision counting machines, weighing packaging machines, multicomponent mixed packaging machines, integrated CCD sorting machines, and complete line solutions. A large number of its machines have been running for 5-10 years with consistent accuracy, resulting in high repurchase rates.

Addressing the two major technical challenges in the fastener industry - high-precision counting and multicomponent mixed packaging - Mr. Yu states frankly: "We have already achieved key breakthroughs." For precise counting, "using multi-set CCD vision plus dual-check algorithms, the accuracy is stable at the level of 0.02% (2/10,000). Even tiny screws or irregular parts can be counted steadily at high speed." For multi-component mixed packaging, "our machines support precise proportioning of up to a dozen materials, with online error-proof identification and oneclick changeover functions, plus double-check verification, completely eliminating mix-ups, missing parts, and counting errors."
In the international market, Wenzhou Gongyou aims to become the representative of Chinese intelligent manufacturing known as "the highest precision, the outstanding stability, the best cost-performance, and the most industry-specific." Mr. Yu summarizes the core competitiveness in five points:
Technological moat: "One of the few manufacturers in the world that masters the full suite of AI vision with 0.02% precision, multi-component mixed, and online error-proofing. The integrated CCD sorting + counting + packaging machine is a world first."
Extreme cost-performance: "Prices are 30-50% lower than European and American brands, but precision, stability, and service life match high-end equipment. Core components come from top-tier brands such as Siemens, Schneider, and Keyence."
Deep industry focus: "Fifteen years dedicated solely to fastener packaging. Support one-click mixed packaging of 3-8 materials and fast changeover, adapting to overseas production models with multiple specifications and small batches."
High stability and long service life: "Each machine undergoes 72-hour continuous run-in plus 10,000-package real-material testing before shipment. Overseas equipment typically runs 24/7 for 5-10 years without major repairs." As the fastener manufacturing industry undergoes a critical transition from "scale expansion" to "quality-driven growth," heat treatment has emerged as a core process determining product mechanical properties and reliability, drawing significant industry attention to advances in equipment and technology. CFM sat down with Mr. Yang Chunlin, Vice General Manager of Jiashan Sanyung Electric Furnace Industry Co., Ltd., a company with decades of experience in the heat treatment equipment sector, for an indepth conversation about how this technologically seasoned enterprise continues to lead in the wave of intelligence and automation.

Sanyung's story began in 1970. The company traces its roots to the Sanyung Group in Taiwan (China), which established San Yung Electric Heat Machine Co., Ltd. in 1970, marking the start of its exploration in the heat treatment equipment field. In 1997, the Group keenly seized the opportunity presented by the rise of the manufacturing industry in mainland China, establishing Jiashan Sanyung Electric Furnace Industry Co., Ltd. in Jiashan, Zhejiang Province, to introduce advanced technology and manufacturing expertise to the Chinese mainland. In 2009, the founding of Zhejiang Gem-wang Precision Auto-parts Co.,
Ltd. further expanded the Group's footprint in the precision auto parts sector.
With over half a century of accumulated expertise, Sanyung has evolved into a modern manufacturer of highquality heat treatment equipment, integrating production, sales, and product design and development. Mr. Yang noted that Sanyung's equipment today serves a broad range of industries, including automotive, motorcycles, bicycles, aerospace, high-speed rail, wind power, construction, bearings, fasteners, hand tools, industrial and household air conditioners.
In the fastener industry, the company's core products - such as continuous bright carburizing (hardening and tempering) furnace, box-type spheroidizing annealing furnace, continuous normalizing furnace, continuous hot-air non-oxidizing bright annealing (spheroidizing) furnace - have earned widespread recognition from clients including FAW, Dongfeng Motor Corporation, General Motors, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz Fuzhou. Mr. Yang stressed, "We have always focused on the design and manufacturing of continuous mesh-belt furnaces - this is precisely Sanyung's core competitive advantage."
In response to the industry wave of intelligence and automation in heat treatment equipment, Jiashan Sanyung has laid its groundwork well in advance. Mr. Yang elaborated on the company's pragmatic initiatives in the field of intelligence: "Our intelligent production system can automatically set temperature, carbon potential, and time parameters based on the residuals from the previous batch. Once conditions inside the furnace reach the preset parameters, the system issues a material-feeding approval prompt, enabling precise control."
Beyond that, Jiashan Sanyung offers customized computer systems and functional designs, with its equipment development and manufacturing strictly complying with the requirements of CQI-9. Through these technological measures, Sanyung has successfully realized Industry 4.0-based automated production, enabling the heat treatment workshop to transform into a modern factory driven by data and intelligent decision-making.

Continuous technology R&D is the lifeblood that keeps Jiashan Sanyung dynamic. Mr. Yang shared with CFM an impressive track record of innovation in recent years: the company has obtained multiple patents, including detachable bearing slide rail base, vibratory feeding device with an arc-shaped tray, automatic circulating drying device for components, heat recovery hot-water tank for heat treatment furnaces. Sanyung has also received new product certificates from Zhejiang Province. These innovations reflect the company's deep-rooted thinking on production efficiency and energy utilization.
When discussing future development, Mr. Yang laid out a clear strategic plan. In terms of international markets, the company is actively seeking collaboration across global markets including Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas, steadily expanding its overseas footprint. The foundation supporting this market expansion is a robust talent cultivation
system. "Currently, we are recruiting professionals with at least a bachelor's degree, particularly bringing in top-tier talent in automation and AI, to build up our capabilities for future technology development," Mr. Yang explained.
In customer training, Jiashan Sanyung has developed a well-established on-site teaching mechanism: after equipment delivery, the company arranges for professional mechanical and electrical engineers to travel to the customer's site to provide operational training. This service philosophy of "equipment delivery paired with professional skill training" significantly shortens customers' production time and lowers the barrier to entry.
Looking ahead, Jiashan Sanyung strives to become a leading high-end intelligent heat treatment equipment and process solution provider in China, renowned internationally, while building a more specialized benchmark brand and establishing provincial or national level enterprise technology centers and engineering R&D centers. To achieve these goals, the company will simultaneously upgrade its product portfolio in both the Chinese and overseas markets, phase out low-end and inefficient capacity, focus on the development of high-end intelligent and green products, and develop modular, standardized, and fast-delivery product lines to respond more nimbly to the needs of global customers.

Technical Expert: Zhang Xianming

This paper begins with a discussion on the newly issued national standards for fastener inspection. The quality control of high-strength bolts covers the entire process from raw material production to finished product delivery. The core production flow is: raw material modification → hot heading → heat treatment → thread machining → stabilization treatment → surface treatment → sorting and packaging. For instance, an M36×350 high-strength bolt fractured during installation. Failure analysis indicates that processing quality is the dominant factor contributing to bolt fracture, while inherent raw material defects are secondary. The primary causes are: inadequate heat treatment, incomplete austenitization, excessive ferrite in the quenched and tempered microstructure, residual hot-rolled banded structure, and thread folding during thread rolling process. For mass production of high-strength bolts, first-article inspection and in-process inspection for thread machining must be strengthened. To ensure uniform microstructure during quenching - approximately 90% martensitic structure- metallographic examination of the as-quenched structure shall be strictly implemented.

With the advancement of science and technology, understanding of fastener performance characteristics has deepened. Currently, automotive and mechanical products are evolving toward lightweight, compact design and high performance. Bolts and nuts, as critical components for jointing, sealing and fastening, are indispensable parts.
The manufacturing quality of fasteners directly determines the overall performance and operational reliability of complete equipment such as automobiles, high - speed railways, wind turbines and nuclear power facilities. Fastener quality is categorized into internal quality and external quality. Internal quality refers primarily to mechanical properties, microstructure and defect distribution; external quality mainly includes dimensional tolerance, weight tolerance and surface finish. To fully realize the potential of fasteners, heat treatment is required to optimize mechanical properties, achieving an optimal strength - toughness balance to meet service requirements under varying loads.
From an inspection perspective, quality assessment covers macroscopic low-magnification examination, optical
and electron microscopic high-magnification observation, as well as energy spectrum and Auger analysis. Chronologically, it spans the entire manufacturing process, including raw material composition verification, heading, welding and heat treatment. Inspection is a practical technique aimed at resolving production issues. It enables the detection of defects and non - conforming parts (especially from hot working), performance verification, defect severity assessment and root- cause identification. Corresponding corrective and preventive measures can then be formulated to improve overall manufacturing quality.
In recent years, an increasing number of steel grades have been developed and imported in China, expanding material options for fasteners. However, incomplete technical data for certain grades has posed challenges for on-site process selection and formulation. The revision and formulation of national standards and design specifications have elevated rational material selection to a critical requirement. "Materials" is specified as an independent chapter, and multiple material selection clauses are designated as mandatory provisions. This requires designers to master rational and optimized material selection for fasteners. The State Administration for Market

Fasteners, known as the "rice of industry", are fundamental components. For the machinery and automotive industry, fasteners are connecting parts for various components and also play a crucial role [1]. Wind turbine bolts are important fasteners. As wind turbine power increases, the performance requirements for bolts become increasingly higher. Bolts used in severe cold or high-altitude areas also require good lowtemperature impact toughness [2]. For example, tower flange bolts, yaw bolts, main shaft bolts, etc., are among the most critical fasteners, and their quality affects the performance stability and safety of the wind turbine. The quality control of high-strength bolts covers the entire process from raw material production to the final product. The basic production process is: raw material modification → hot heading → heat treatment
→ thread processing → stress-reliefthread machining treatment → surface treatment → sorting and packaging.
Due to size and surface condition, hot-rolled wire rods and bars must be modified or ground before being used for fastener production. The modification process for key fastener materials is PASAIP. The control points of material modification include selection of blank size, spheroidizing process, decarburization, phosphating film, and surface quality. To meet the requirements of fastener heading, in addition to a reasonable spheroidizing process, surface quality control is very critical. Therefore, the material surface is required to be free of scratches, indentations, bending, residual oxide scale, rust spots, and other defects.
Quenching and tempering is the core process for achieving optimal mechanical properties. Producing high-quality highstrength bolts requires advanced heat treatment process control methods. The heat treatment process has strict requirements for time, temperature, carbon potential control and quenching medium. At present, continuous mesh belt furnace production lines are widely used, requiring good sealing, advanced atmosphere protection, automatic control of parameters such as temperature and automatic alarm functions to ensure stable quality. In addition, nitrogen + methanol + propane cracking or an RX furnace is needed for external cracking to control carbon potential. However, hardness testing alone is insufficient. Product strength, yield ratio, microstructure, decarburization depth, phosphorus segregation and tensile strength must also be controlled and verified. [3]. Controlling these factors is key to ensuring product consistency during final assembly.
Thread rolling and tapping feature better material utilization and productivity than machining threads. Bolt fatigue life is closely linked to thread forming. Adopting a production process of heat treatment first followed by thread rolling can increase thread stress. Research results show that an appropriate rolling depth can significantly improve the fatigue life of bolts. A rolling depth of 0.06 mm gives the best effect, increasing fatigue life by about 65% compared to nonrolled bolts. It also helps reduce thread galling while improving fatigue strength. Moreover, rolling after heat treatment, the life of the rolling die also affects product quality. In addition, evaluating the rolling life of the die is also key to controlling product quality.
High-strength fasteners involve various dimensions and geometric tolerances. When necessary, the testing methods and tools should be unified with the customer to reduce measurement errors and avoid misjudgment. Compared with ordinary standard parts, high-strength fasteners have higher and stricter requirements for materials, bolt forming processes, dies, equipment, operating specifications, testing capabilities,
heat treatment and thread processing control, and surface treatment.
A batch of 10.9 grade M36×350 high-strength bolts produced by a certain company fractured in batches during tightening installation. The bolt installation position is shown in Figure 1, and the macroscopic morphology of the fractured bolts is shown in Figure 2. The bolts were made of 42CrMoA steel. The main process was quenching and tempering heat treatment followed by thread rolling. The specified installation torque for the bolts was 2805 N·m. Before torque application, MoS2 lubricant was uniformly sprayed on the bolt threads. Fracture occurred when a hydraulic wrench applied a torque of 2800 N·m.
To avoid recurrence of such accidents and determine the cause of high-strength bolt fracture, a failure analysis of the factors influencing high-strength bolt fracture was conducted.

All bolt fractures occurred at the thread location. Obvious necking deformation was observed near the fracture, and the threads were coated with a large amount of lubricant. The macroscopic morphology of the fractured bolts is shown in Figure 2. The low-magnification magnified morphologies of fractures #1 and #2 are shown in Figure 3.
The bolt fractures were all typical cup-and-cone type. Fracture originated from the core of the bolt. This is because under tensile load, after necking occurs, the maximum tensile stress shifts to the core. The entire fracture can be roughly divided into the central fracture initiation zone, the fibrous zone, and the shear lip zone at the periphery of the fracture.
The fracture initiation zone is located exactly at the center, with a relatively small area. Outside the initiation zone is the fibrous zone, which accounts for most of the fracture area, both showing arc-shaped torsional tearing marks. Among them, the torsional tearing marks on the #2 bolt fracture are more obvious. These are traces left by twisting deformation, tearing, and crack propagation during loading by the hydraulic torque wrench during installation. The radiant zone characteristic of brittle fracture is not very obvious, though #1 faintly shows radial stripes. The periphery of the fracture is the final fracture shear lip. One side of the shear lip is smaller, while the other side is larger. For the #2 bolt, one side of the shear lip is larger, indicating uneven stress distribution, eccentric loading, and the presence of torsional and bending stress. An obvious step is present on the edge of the fracture, formed by the final connection of cracks propagating at different heights along the thread root. This characteristic indicates that the fracture of these 10.9 grade high-strength bolts during installation was a ductile fracture under combined tensile and torsional loads.

Cross-sectional samples were taken from the shank of the bolt fracture. A Rockwell hardness tester (Model HR-150) was used to measure the hardness at the surface, at half radius, and at the core. The results are shown in Table 2. The results show that the surface and half-radius hardness of fractured bolts #1 and #2 are approximately 35-37 HRC, while the core hardness is slightly lower, ranging from 33-34 HRC. The surface hardness is about 2-3 HRC higher than the core. The hardness values of the fractured bolts all meet the technical requirements for 10.9 grade high-strength bolts.

Over the past decade, global fastener buyers have long concentrated their sourcing activities in Shenzhen and Dongguan in Guangdong Province, China, home to thousands of die-making, cold forging and heat treatment manufacturers. Driven by rising operational costs across the Greater Bay Area and changing trade barriers, however, a new industrial belt has taken shape along the coastal western Guangdong. Yangjiang, a city long famous for knives, scissors, and hardware, has now emerged as a prime destination attracting the relocation of high-quality fastener manufactures from China's traditional hubs.
Focusing on the question "Can Yangjiang become a new supply hub?", this article draws on the insights of Chen Shengshan, President of the Yangjiang Fastener Industry Association, and Sheng Xiaoling, Executive President of the Yangjiang Machinery Equipment Industry Association, to analyze: what is driving the relocation of fastener manufacturers to Yangjiang, the current production and operational status of Yangjiang's industrial park, and standout manufacturers worthy of global purchasers' attention.
Founded in 2019, Yangjiang Fastener Industry Association boasts over 120 member enterprises covering the full fastener industrial chain. Established in 2021, Yangjiang Machinery Equipment Industry Association delivers specialized services including equipment maintenance and smart manufacturing transformation for its member manufacturers, aggregating more than one hundred production firms under its umbrella. The CFM editorial team has conducted dedicated interviews with the two association leaders for this report.
In an interview with CFM, Chen Shengshan noted that anchored by the Yangdong Industrial Zone, Yangjiang Fastener Industrial Park sits at a strategic location linking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hainan Free Trade Port and Beibu Gulf. A comprehensive three-dimensional

transportation network underpins local logistics, comprising the Shenhai Expressway, Coastal Expressway, Jiangzhan High-Speed Railway, Heshan Airport and Dongping Fishing Port.
President Chen emphasized Yangjiang's core development positioning: building a high-precision premium manufacturing base capable of rapid order response. Unlike Shenzhen and Dongguan where most factories operate on leased premises with limited room for capacity expansion, Yangjiang supplies contiguous standardized factory premises alongside compliant electroplating and heat treatment parks, enabling manufacturers to shift from struggling with rental constraints to solid ground investment and capacity scaling. When benchmarked against Southeast Asian production bases, Yangjiang features a half-hour supporting industrial circle plus a seasoned pool of skilled industrial workers; its unmatched lead time and upstreamdownstream coordination efficiency cannot be replicated by Southeast Asian nations in the short to medium term.
He further specified that self-drilling screws represent Yangjiang's flagship product with mature processing techniques and steady export volumes, while custom nonstandard fasteners serve as a litmus test for manufacturers' die development and engineering capabilities. Global buyers can scale up bulk cooperation smoothly after successful small-batch trial orders, with the association available to facilitate targeted supplier matching.
Meanwhile, Sheng Xiaoling, Executive President of Yangjiang Machinery Equipment Industry Association, elaborated on the region's distinctive industrial synergy advantages: "From the association's perspective, Yangjiang has established a localized closed-loop industrial chain covering equipment manufacturing, wire drawing, cold heading, secondary machining, heat treatment, electroplating, CCD automated sorting, and packaging, with nearly all upstream and downstream suppliers clustered within the half-hour industrial radius. No crosscity outsourced processing is required across full production workflows, cutting overall production cycles by over 25%. Unified production scheduling and consistent quality specifications across the supply chain allow overseas buyers to source full range fastener products via one-stop procurement. The industrial cluster's resilience shines especially for urgent or unexpected orders: prototype samples for small-size fasteners can be finished in as little as three working days. The association coordinates spare production capacity across park manufacturers to fulfil unexpected bulk additional orders. During raw material shortages, local wire drawing mills share stock flexibly, while centralized public heat treatment and electroplating

workshops adopt shift adjustments to avoid production shutdowns and shipment delays."
Sheng concluded that the complete industrial ecosystem paired with shared cluster production capacity has earned widespread trust from international buyers, who increasingly allocate urgent orders and even annual bulk contracts to Yangjiang-based manufacturers.
As of early 2026, Yangjiang has hosted more than 130 fastener and supporting manufacturers, around 90% of which are settled in Yangdong District and Yinling Science & Technology Park of Jiangcheng District. Every upstream and downstream procedure can be completed within local parks: upstream processes including wire drawing and spheroidizing annealing, midstream cold forging and thread rolling, and downstream heat treatment, surface electroplating and finished product packaging, demonstrating the effectiveness of a fully integrated local production system.
Statistics from Yangjiang Fastener Industry Association show the park's aggregate annual fastener output has
exceeded 150,000 metric tons, covering self-drilling screws, stainless steel fasteners, lock washers, custom nonstandard fasteners and automotive fasteners. Merchandise is mainly exported to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America and Europe; for European markets subject to antidumping duties, some manufacturers adopt third-country transshipment or overseas warehouse distribution models to mitigate tariff risks. Geographically advantageous for maritime trade, Yangjiang Port lies merely 30 kilometers away from the industrial cluster, with 11 newly built berths passing official national acceptance inspections in 2025.
A technological pacesetter within the industrial park, STL originated in Dongguan and relocated to Yangjiang in 2018 with self-constructed production facilities and an inhouse independent electroplating workshop. Its flagship products are SJYD-LOCK lock washers and prevailing torque lock washers, serving aerospace, wind power, rail transit and new energy vehicle sectors. In 2023, the firm's high-precision fasteners were successfully applied on China's domestically developed C919 large passenger aircraft, making STL one of only four approved fastener suppliers.
Founded in 2005, the enterprise transferred its entire production base from Dongguan to Wanxiang Industrial Park, Yangdong District in 2018, covering a plant area of over 22,000 square meters with a workforce of more than 200 employees. It delivers integrated manufacturing solutions for precision screws, CNC machining parts, springs and custom specialty hardware components. Certified to IATF16949 automotive quality management system, QC080000 hazardous substance process management system and ISO14001 environmental management system, its products are widely deployed in nuclear power, offshore wind power, precision instrumentation, general machinery and aerospace fields, supplying leading Chinese brands alongside regular exports to Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas.
A high-tech enterprise specializing in R&D, production and sales of custom non-standard fasteners, Jintai started
construction work in 2018 and completed its relocation to Yangdong Wanxiang Industrial Park in 2020. Its core portfolio covers various custom non-standard screws and special formed fasteners, holding ISO 9001, IATF16949 and RoHS certifications plus 16 proprietary national patents.
A specialized manufacturer of self-drilling fasteners with years of operational experience in Dongguan, Boito was among the first batch of contracted enterprises settling in Yangdong Wanxiang Industrial Park in 2018. Its core offerings include stainless steel self-drilling and self-tapping screws, extensively used in steel structure construction, photovoltaic mounting brackets, and roofing systems.
Focused on lock-in fasteners, anti-loosening thread taps and thread gauges, Guanhong signed relocation agreements to set up operations in Yangjiang back in 2018. It owns multiple Chinese utility model patents for its flagship Anchor-Lock prevailing torque nuts built on proprietary R-type variablethread anti-loosening threading technology, patented in Chinese Mainland, Chinese Taiwan, the United States, South Korea, Japan and multiple other jurisdictions.
The five aforementioned manufacturers exemplify Yangjiang's diversified manufacturing prowess across premium aerospace-grade anti-loosening fasteners, precision turned parts, construction self-drilling screws, stainless steel hardware and patented anti-loosening fastening technologies. Backed by over 130 clustered fastener and auxiliary manufacturers, the region has matured into a complete closed-loop supply chain from wire drawing and heat treatment through electroplating and final packaging.
For global sourcing professionals, Yangjiang presents a viable new procurement option balancing manufacturing cost, product quality and stable delivery performance. Note that numerous outstanding local manufacturers cannot be listed exhaustively due to article length limitations; buyers may contact CFM via editor@chinafastener.com to acquire the full certified supplier directory.
When discussing the next frontier of China's manufacturing evolution, apart from emerging production destinations such as Vietnam and India, industrial hubs like Yangjiang are steadily playing an increasingly important role in industrial relocation and upgrading with pragmatic and efficient operational strengths.

On March 23, local time, the Fastener Expo Frankfurt 2026 officially kicked off in Hall 6 of Messe Frankfurt. CFM exhibited at the event with the 45th issue of CFM, showcasing Chinese fastener companies featured in the publication and reaching out to international buyers on site. (Booth No.: E32)This year's exhibition brought together 237 exhibitors from around the world, including over 100 Chinese exhibitors (around 40 of which were fastener enterprises). Covering 14 major themes across fasteners, forging, auto parts, and 3D printing, the event fully showcased the latest achievements in metal materials, manufacturing technology, and smart factories.
This year's expo drew a large number of exhibitors from around the world. In addition to the substantial Chinese delegation, leading companies from the host country Germany, as well as traditional manufacturing powerhouses from Western Europe including Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, also presented their latest offerings, underscoring the central role of the European market in the global fastener industry.
Notably, Germany, as a technological powerhouse and major fastener-consuming market, has long been closely watched by the industry. According to statistics, Germany's annual fastener market demand ranks among the highest in Europe, with high-end fastener products being widely used in automotive manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and renewable energy. As one of the world's largest fastener producers, China has maintained robust export momentum to Germany year after year. Against the backdrop of supply chain restructuring and green transformation, the complementary strengths of China and Germany in the fastener sector have become increasingly evident.
As a professional media outlet with deep roots in the industry, CFM not only serves as a key window for Chinese Note: "-" indicates data not shown or disclosed.

fastener companies to stay abreast of market trends and technological frontiers, but also stands as the preferred platform for overseas buyers seeking high-quality Chinese suppliers. At the expo, the CFM team brought the 45th issue of CFM, presenting its platform resources to professional visitors from all over the world.
"Every time we exhibit overseas, it is an important moment for us to reconnect with old overseas friends and meet new ones." said Ms. Yuan Xiaocheng, Head of CFM. "By bringing the 45th issue of CFM to Germany, we are not just presenting a publication. We want the world to see the transformation, upgrading, and immense potential of China's fastener industry through this window." At the booth, the CFM team delivered professional and enthusiastic service, providing detailed insights into the current state of China's fastener market to inquiring overseas buyers and matching them with suitable supply chain resources. Whether buyers looking for specific standard parts or international brands hoping to expand their presence in the Chinese market, all found satisfactory answers at the CFM booth.

May 20, 2026 - METALTECH & AUTOMEX 2026 officially opened at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. CFM made its presence felt at Booth 7250, showcasing the 45th issue of CFM.
The exhibition spanned six halls, each with a clearly defined specialization: Hall 2 focused on precision metrology and measurement; Halls 3 and 4 featured machine tools and metalworking technologies; Halls 6 and 7 presented

robotics and automation solutions; and Hall 8 centered on power tools and hardware equipment. On-site data showed approximately 450 exhibitors in total, of which around 80 were from Mainland China. Participating countries and regions included Malaysia, Mainland China, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam - reflecting strong regional reach and a high degree of internationalization.
Chinese exhibitors attracted significant buyer interest. Based on on-site inquiries, stainless steel fasteners, largediameter construction bolts, washers, black-oxide screws, and various non-standard screws were the most sought-after product categories among buyers. In addition, buyers from the automotive and machine tool sectors showed clear supporting procurement demands. Production equipment and auxiliary products including thread rolling dies and packaging machines also attracted plenty of inquiries.
The buyer base consisted primarily of local Malaysian end-user manufacturers, supplemented by a large number of Thai purchasers and a number of regional trade wholesalers. CFM, through the 45th issue of CFM, systematically showcased the product and technological strengths of Chinese fastener companies to overseas buyers, while also hosting on-site matchmaking and networking activities.
The active discussions and inquiries at the exhibition reflected broader trends in Malaysia's fastener market.
Table 1: Malaysia Fastener Import Data (Oct 2025 Mar 2026)

According to the latest customs data, over the six-month period from October 2025 to March 2026, Malaysia's cumulative fastener imports reached approximately 129,300 metric tons, with a total import value of around $370 million. On a monthby-month basis, import value peaked during this period in December 2025 at $66.8946 million. In February 2026, impacted by the Lunar New Year holiday, import volumes moderated to about 18,100 metric tons, valued at $58.7090 million. By March 2026, volumes quickly rebounded to 22,400 metric tons, with a value of $59.1717 million.
Table 2: Malaysia Fastener Export Data (Oct 2025 Mar 2026)

Note: "-" indicates data not shown or disclosed.
On the export front, the total export value over the same period was approximately $182 million, meaning imports were roughly double the value of exports. This trade deficit pattern remained stable. The data indicates that robust domestic demand for fasteners from Malaysia's manufacturing sector persists, and that there remains significant room for Chinese fastener enterprises to expand their market presence in Malaysia and the surrounding region.

The INAFASTENER 2026 exhibition was successfully held at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) on May 20, 2026. Spanning three days (May 20-22), CFM presented the 45th issue of CFM, while introducing the Chinese fastener companies featured in the publication and reaching out to overseas buyers on-site (Booth No. C1E3-05).
Based on data released by the organizer, PT. Global Expo Management (GEM Indonesia), the exhibition covered approximately 8,000 square meters and attracted 220 participating companies from around the world. Among them, around 70 were Chinese enterprises, accounting for nearly one-third of total exhibitors, reaffirming China's position as Indonesia's largest source of fastener imports. The buyer base was primarily concentrated in Southeast Asia, with the exhibition clearly positioned as a "supply chain event targeting Indonesia and the Southeast Asian market." Notably, there were no organized buyer delegations; instead, buyers were mostly local manufacturers, traders, and end users who visited independently, highlighting the exhibition's role as a demanddriven sourcing platform as a demand-driven sourcing platform for the regional supply chain.
The exhibition featured several major sectors, including fasteners & hardware, auto parts, EV ecosystems, INABIKE, and industrial hardware. On-site observations by the CFM team revealed that new energy vehicle (NEV) supporting components became the most dynamically evolving product category this year. This trend is closely tied to the Indonesian government's vigorous push for electric vehicle industry development.
The import and export data of fasteners in Indonesia have also drawn industry attention. Official statistics indicate that the import and export performance from September 2025 to February 2026 is as follows:
Note: "-" indicates data not shown or disclosed.
On the import side, total imports over the six months reached approximately 51,599.8 metric tons, with a total import value of about $231 million. Notably, import volume peaked in December 2025 at 11,903.8 metric tons (valued at $43.225 million), representing the highest point within the statistical period. Subsequently, import volume dropped sharply in January 2026 to 5,100.1 metric tons ($30.507 million), before recovering modestly to 6,797.2 metric tons ($34.947 million) in February. This pattern reflects a typical cyclical trend of preholiday stockpiling followed by post-holiday contraction.
Exports, meanwhile, remained at relatively low levels. Except for October and November 2025, for which export data were not released, monthly export volumes remained below 1,600 metric tons. The total known export volume for the four months within the six-month period was only about 5,872.7 metric tons. The average monthly export value was approximately $9.98 million, creating a nearly fourfold gap compared with the average monthly import value of $38.57 million.
