CHINFAST: Excellence in Transformation from Manufacturing to Service Innovation
CHINFAST Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "CHINFAST") has been committed to the research, development, manufacturing, and sales of fastener products since its inception. As one of the leading enterprises in Chinese fastener industry, CHINFAST has cultivated a strong international reputation by superior product quality, innovative service models, and global market layout. Looking back on its development history, CHINFAST has not only excelled in product manufacturing but also successfully expanded into DIY packaging services, demonstrating its keen market insight and strong execution ability through strategic transformation.
Strategic Transformation: From Manufacturing to Service
CHINFAST initially focused on manufacturing multifunctional wood screws and decking screws. With excellent product quality and high-efficiency production capabilities, it quickly secured a competitive edge in the fastener industry. However, as market demands became more diversified and customers' service requirements increased, CHINFAST realized that relying solely on manufacturing operations would no longer meet customers' comprehensive needs. The company embarked on a strategic expansion into DIY packaging service area as early as five years ago.
This strategic transformation decision was not accidental but was based on a deep understanding of market trends and accurate analysis of customer preferences for small-batch, tailored packaging solutions. CHINFAST keenly captured this
market opportunity and laid a solid foundation for the smooth development of the DIY packaging service through a series of hardware and software upgrades, including an automated warehouse, a professional accessory design team, and a state-of-the-art packaging production line. Meanwhile, the integrated ERP system further improved production efficiency, enabling the efficient operation of the DIY packaging service. These enhancements not only elevated CHINFAST's service capabilities but also provided customers with more flexible and efficient solutions.
Competitive Edge: DIY Packaging Service
CHINFAST's DIY packaging service stands out by robust technical infrastructure and an experienced team. The company, relying on the cost advantage from industrial-scale manufacturing, offers customers highly competitive packaging solutions. Whether it is product quality, outer packaging design, or delivery timelines, CHINFAST strives for excellence and ensures full customer satisfaction.
In terms of customized services, CHINFAST has demonstrated outstanding innovation capabilities. For example, a European customer originally purchased bulk goods and packaged them independently. After learning about CHINFAST's DIY packaging service, the customer
placed a trial order for one container. The CHINFAST team not only optimized the product structure and packaging process for the customer but also invited the customer to visit the automated packaging process on-site. The customer was full of praise for CHINFAST's highly efficient automated operation level and professional packaging team and immediately decided to entrust all DIY businesses to CHINFAST - a testament to the company's commitment to innovation and customer-centricity.

Chinese Fasteners: Insufficient Evidence Led to Inconclusive Probe
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India officially announced the termination of the anti-dumping investigation into fasteners originating from or imported from China on February 7 local time. This decision stems from the failure of the Indian domestic industry to provide sufficient evidence to prove that Chinese fasteners are being dumped or causing damage to the Indian domestic industry. Due to the lack of key information, the investigating authority was ultimately unable to determine that Chinese products were involved in unfair trade practices, thus making the decision of terminating the investigation.
On September 23, 2023, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India launched an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese fasteners on the grounds of "protecting the domestic industry". The products under investigation cover dozens of categories such as screws, bolts, nuts, concrete nails, springs and roller clips, steel strip seals, and even extend to niche areas like consumables for bedding.

It is against this background that we are now taking the next step and establishing ourselves in Vietnam. This will increase Bulten's sales volumes and benefit profitability," says Christina Hallin, interim president and CEO of Bulten.
The new joint venture plans to rent production facilities, which means limited investment costs and risk taking for Bulten. Bulten's ownership in the planned company will be 51% and ZJK will own the remaining 49%.

Persistence and Innovation: The Global Journey of Shanghai Shangdian Washer Co., Ltd.
-
An Interview with Sun Shuying, General Manager of Shanghai Shangdian Washer Co., Ltd.
Since its inception in 1956, Shanghai Shangdian Washer Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Shangdian") has evolved from a state-owned factory into a global leader, exporting to over 30 countries, demonstrating the resilience of "Made in China" over the past sixty-eight years. Amidst numerous challenges, how did Shangdian achieve a 10% growth against the trend in 2024? What makes Southeast Asian market become a new growth driver? From technical breakthroughs to innovative solutions, how did Shangdian break down industry barriers? In this interview, the general manager uncovers the transformation code – stabilizing the core to withstand uncertainties in globalization, while exploring the international market through flexible customization, transitioning from a "Chinese factory" to a "global business card".
CFM CFM
As a leading enterprise in the field of washer manufacturing in China, could you please share Shangdian's background and development?
General Manager Sun: The predecessor of Shangdian was the state-owned Shanghai Washer Factory established in 1956, which was subordinate to the Ministry of Machinery Industry of the State and was a core enterprise specializing in the production of flat washers in China. In 1967, the factory relocated to the suburban area of Jinshan. In 2000, during China's state-owned enterprise reform, the enterprise completed the transformation of its system and was officially renamed to Shanghai Shangdian Washer Co., Ltd., becoming a private joint-stock enterprise. Now, we have more than 150 employees, with an annual output of 5,000 tons. Our products are exported to more than 30 countries and regions including Europe, America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. We have obtained a number of standard certifications like ISO 9001, TS16949 (Automotive Quality Management), and ISO 14001, and provide supporting services for leading Chinese enterprises such as SAIC Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen.
In 2024, the global economic environment was complex and volatile. How was the performance of Shangdian?
General Manager Sun: In 2024, our sales volume increased by about 10% year-on-year, with breakthroughs especially in the Southeast Asian market. At present, 70% of the company's products are exported. While the European and American markets remain stable, the Southeast Asian market, with its rapid development of the manufacturing industry and the demand for infrastructure construction, has become growth drivers.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the current industry? How will Shangdian address them in 2025?
General Manager Sun: The challenges mainly come from three aspects: the fluctuation of raw material prices, international trade tensions, and the urgent need for the digital transformation of the industry. But we are full of confidence in 2025. We will focus on three areas:
1.Release the cost pressure through technical optimization and upgrading. For example, continuous investment in the R&D of new materials.
2. Accelerate the digital transformation to improve production efficiency and supply chain management capabilities.
3. Deepen cooperation with international counterparts and explore the market with the dual drive of "products + services".
CFM CFM
What achievements has the company made on technical innovation in recent years?
General Manager Sun: In 2024, we reached three key technical achievements:
1.The application of new materials, and developed special alloy washers resistant to extreme environments.
2.The precision processing technology of ultra-thin washers.
3.Optimized sealing performance for new energy vehicle battery components.
These innovations have earned us titles of "High-tech Enterprise" and "Specialized, Sophisticated, Differentiated and Innovative Enterprise", securing long-term orders from a number of internationally renowned enterprises.

Hardware Sector Totally Satisfied with the 8th International Istanbul Hardware Fair
Hardware sector achieved its biggest success so far thanks to the 8th International Istanbul Hardware Fair, held at the Istanbul Expo Center between 20-23 November 2024. A total of 376 exhibitors and 29,755 visitors from Turkiye and 102 different countries attended the organization, which took place in the 1st, 2nd and 4th halls.
New Visitor Record Achieved
The International Istanbul Hardware Fair, the only specialized fair of the hardware and tools sector in the MENA region, attracts great attention as an important commercial platform that brings together all stakeholders of the sector. This year, 376 companies exhibited more than 20,000 products
ranging from power tools to abrasives, from occupational safety to chemicals.
18% of the visitors came from abroad and 82% from all over Turkiye, giving the organization a national and international identity. Among the participants were professionals from 102 different countries, from the United States of America to Algeria, from China to Nigeria. The 8 th edition of the fair attracted great interest especially from visitors from Eurasia and MENA countries. In addition, the fact that most of the visitors were industry professionals made the business-boosting effect of the fair even more evident.
Many innovative products were launched during the fair. While the exhibitors made an exciting start to the new business season, live demonstrations and booth shows in the exhibition area were met with great interest by the visitors. This atmosphere was an indication of the dynamism in the sector.
We Are Happy to Address a Wide Audience Over the Years
Drawing attention to the details behind the success of the fair this year, Project Manager Zülküf Karadayi said, "This organization, which is a specialized fair for the hardware sector, has become appealing to a much wider audience over the
The content is provided by Istanbul Hardware Fair
years. The fact that the highest number of visitors recorded so far this year is an indication of the sector's willingness to embrace this event. This fair, which the participating companies prepared meticulously, opened the door to new collaborations by bringing together professionals from Turkiye and abroad."
Emphasizing the success of the team, Karadayi added, "this success is the result of months of meticulous planning and implementation by our team. The fact that we have a leading position especially in sectoral publishing was very effective in terms of reaching our target audience. The fair has become not only a business platform but also a sectoral meeting point."
Fair Attracting the Most Visitors in the International Arena
"Our fair has gone beyond being just an exhibition and has become a global business platform. This year, we have become much more international with visitors from 102 different countries. According to statistics, there is no other hardware and tools exhibition in the world that attracts so many visitors. This provides us with an important contribution to increase
worldwide export potentials in the hardware and tools sector," commented Yusuf Okçu, International Sales & Marketing Manager of International Istanbul Hardware Fair on the international success that the last edition of the fair achieved.
Emphasizing the search for new markets directed by the participating companies Okçu said, "Thanks to our fair, companies had the chance to meet potential overseas customers and make a difference in their domestic markets. This mutually beneficial
structure is one of the features that make our fair unique. In addition, the quality of the visitors was also an important factor that strengthened business connections. Especially the procurement committees from Asia, Middle East and European countries made a great contribution to the organization and the special meetings held with these delegations offered great opportunities for the exhibitors."
Pointing out that the Asia-Pacific region offers significant growth potential with the restructuring of supply chains, and sustained growth requires strengthening domestic market dynamics and improving trade relations, Okçu added, "the outcome of the US elections and Trump's victory pose a major obstacle to China's Belt and Road Initiative. In addition, the sanctions imposed by the EU on Chinese industry have made Turkiye an important ally for China economically. In this context, Chinese companies, which have started serious investments in Turkiye, took part in the International Istanbul Hardware Fair with a wide participation. Trump's planned tariffs on China are actually an important opportunity for Turkish companies and will provide a competitive advantage in new markets. Last year we were rewarded for our efforts in international markets throughout the year and this year we will work with the same enthusiasm and diversify the countries that will participate in the fair."
Full Steam Ahead With New Goals to Achieve
The 8th International Istanbul Hardware Fair hosted 29,755 visitors and became an important meeting point for the development of the sector. The organization will gather the sector again on November 19-22, 2025 at the Istanbul Expo Center with more comprehensive halls. The goal is to further strengthen the international position of the fair with the aim of new collaborations and more participation.
Targets for 2025 include conducting stronger promotional campaigns in Europe, Asia and Africa, increasing the number of exhibitors and organizing events tailored to the sectoral needs of visitors. The International Istanbul Hardware Fair will continue to play a strategic role not only for the sector but also for Turkiye to reach its export targets.
