Message from Our Superintendent There have been recent media reports regarding bullying and harrasment in the Chagrin Falls Schools. The Chagrin Falls Board of Education has a clear policy, as well as supporting procedures on bullying and harassment that aligns with Ohio law. We take these and all issues involving the social and emotional health of our students seriously. As per federal privacy laws, the district is not permitted to comment in detail on the events between students. This not only includes verification of such events, but disputing false or inaccurate statements. The incidents that were brought to our attention were investigated completely and, when substantiated, disciplinary action was taken per policy as appropriate.

We do a tremendous amount within the district to encourage tolerance, acceptance and to educate students and parents on appropriate ways to report any concern regarding harassment and bullying. A few of those items specific to the Intermediate School are as follows: • Guidance classes for students one time every six days, as per the building schedule rotation/all grade levels and all students.

- Tools students need to have positive relationships - Moving forward with intention. • Students who require a higher level of support would move into tier 2/3 of our response to intervention model which would include the appropriate services at a more individual level. • Outside speakers: Annually, all buildings bring in speakers to reinforce these concepts. In the last month, CFIS had a guest speaker that focused on the importance of inclusion and acceptance of others.

All staff, both certified and classified, have been exposed to a variety of training on issues of bullying, harassment, discrimination, child abuse and tolerance. They also clearly understand the importance of reporting issues and follow the policy.

This district prides itself on continuous growth and improvement and this area is no different. We need to work with parents and our community to ensure all actions are reported and communicated to the appropriate individual for immediate action. A Review of the March Board of Education Meetings “Board Briefs” At the March Regular Board of Education meeting, several parents addressed the board to ask that we examine the district’s role in supporting diversity and fostering an environment that is free from bullying and harassment. As a Board we are appreciative of the willingness of these parents to take the time to share their concerns. The district does not tolerate any statements, actions or behaviors that violate board policy on harassment or discrimination. The district proactively provides ongoing student educational initiatives and staff training as you have read in Superintendent Robert Hunt’s message on the preceding page.

Student success is a shared responsibility. The district’s belief statement clearly affirms the intention to engage in open and honest communication, provide a safe environment, embrace diversity and create purposeful change. The Board and administration welcome impactful, meaningful discussion with parents and embrace the opportunity to do more to educate our children and reinforce these beliefs.

This is the final Board Brief prior to the levy initiative on the May 2nd ballot. Rigorous financial analysis, cost compression efforts and broad parent and community feedback has helped us create a comprehensive ballot initiative with unanimous support of the Board and administration.

The combined ballot issue accomplishes a tremendous amount for our district, providing much-needed funds to: • maintain current operations and educational programming.

• renovate and restore school facilities, most notably the Intermediate School.

• increase our budget for facility maintenance and address pressing needs at Gurney as well as the Middle and High School buildings.

In aggregate, the plan supports the short and longterm interest of the entire Chagrin School community; students, staff, families and taxpayers. The district achieves a fiscally responsible, comprehensive solution to our educational and facility needs and provides adequate funding to educate our students and continue the Chagrin Falls School’s tradition of excellence.

Chagrin Falls High School Students Named Candidates in U. S. Presidential Scholars Program Chagrin Falls High School seniors Daniel Berlin, Leah Gillespie, and Danielle Currey have been named three of more than 4,000 candidates in the 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.5 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in the year 2017.

Inclusion in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, now in its 53nd year, is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors.

Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities. The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President to recognize some of our nation’s most distinguished graduating seniors for their accomplishments in many areas: academic success, leadership, and service to school and community.

It was expanded in 1979 to recognize students demonstrating exceptional scholarship and talent in the visual, creative, and performing arts. In 2015,

the program was expanded once again to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical fields. Annually, up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars are chosen from among the candidates, representing excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s youth.

All Scholars are invited to Washington, DC in June for the National Recognition Program, featuring various events and enrichment activities and culminating in the presentation of the Presidential Scholars Medallion during a White House-sponsored ceremony.

A distinguished panel of educators will review these submissions and select 800 semifinalists in early April.

The Commission on Presidential Scholars, a group of up to 32 eminent citizens appointed by the President, will select the finalists, and the U.S. Department of Education will announce the Scholars in May. Scholars will be invited to Washington, DC, for several days in June to receive the Presidential Scholars Medallion at a recognition ceremony and to participate in events and activities.

Chagrin Falls Intermediate School Students Participate in Ohio All State Children’s Chorus

Eleven Chagrin Falls Intermediate School fourth and fifth grade students performed in the Ohio State Children’s Chorus on Thursday, February 2, at the Hilton in downtown Cleveland.

The 11 students included: Frankie Ashkettle, Annie Bourne, Jillian Bunker, Elena Goodwin, Luke Nelson, Lyndsey Nielsen, Norah Pope, Katherine Quinn, Alexandra Scharpf, James Wilkinson, and Tatum Yanchar. Each student was chosen based on a recorded audition of three required acapella songs that were judged on vocal quality, pitch, and ability to access the head voice. Mrs. Pat Haynish, retired Chagrin Falls’ music teacher, conducted the three required Northeast Regional Rehearsals that were

hosted by Chagrin Falls Schools in December and January to prepare for the concert.

This was the third annual All State Children's Chorus Concert that consisted of 117 students and was attended by almost 1,000 music professionals, parents, and friends at the Ohio Music Educator's Conference in Cleveland. The Guest Conductor was Dr. Judy Bowers, Professor of Choral Music Education at Florida State University. In 2014, Dr. Bowers was named a Lowell Mason National Music Education Fellow and was inducted into this society by the National Association for Music Education in Washington D.C.

Chagrin Falls High School Band and Orchestra Travel to Chicago

The Chagrin Falls High School Band and Orchestra students traveled to Chicago on the weekend of February 17-19. On Friday, they had lunch at Notre Dame College and then went to the Museum of Science and Industry. They enjoyed dinner and shopping on the Magnificent Mile and even went to the top of the Hancock Tower. On Saturday, they participated in band and orchestra clinics at

Vandercook College of Music. They performed at the field museum, followed by dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. In the evening, they attended a Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert. On Sunday, they enjoyed time at the Shedd Aquarium, took a group picture at the famous "Bean" and then headed back home to Chagrin Falls.

One School One Book at Chagrin Falls’ Intermediate School Promotes Kindness to All Throughout the month of February, Chagrin Falls Intermediate School participated in One School, One Book, a program that promotes literacy and reading through the community. Everyone who is a part of the school - students, teachers, staff, administrators, and parents were asked to participate. “Research shows that reading aloud at home is extremely important and valuable because it better prepares children to be effective readers,” said Principal Sarah Read. “Here at the Intermediate School, we believe that it is also a very fun, worthwhile family activity!”

As part of One School, One Book, families were asked to set aside time every evening to read together from the book “Wonder” by R.L. Palacio. “We chose this book because it is one that can be followed, understood and enjoyed by younger students, but also will be captivating and stimulating to older children.”

Each child received his/her own copy of the book, thanks to a generous donation by the PTO. The main character of “Wonder,” August Pullman, was born with a facial difference that prevented him from going to a mainstream school. He started at a new school as a fifth grader and hoped he would be treated like any other kid, but his classmates could not get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. The book touches on bullying, courage, kindness, friendship, and family and finding a “diamond in the rough” who proves that as Palacio states, “You can’t blend in where you were born to stand out.”

The school published a website (http:// cfisoneschoolonebook.weebly.com) just for the One School, One Book initiative that included nightly podcasts read by various juniors and seniors at Chagrin Falls High School who are Write Place interns. In school, engaging activities and discussions took place in Language Arts class and Personal Learning Time.

Student Council and PAWS sponsored programs and activities that coincided with One School, One Book.

There were weekly quiz questions and daily blogs.

There was a door decorating contest that centered around an inspiring quote from a famous person, book, or movie, and a used book drive to support Cleveland’s Kids’ Book Bank.

A highlight of the month was Student Council’s Certified Kind Challenge campaign. Students were encouraged to do kind deeds in order to fill a jar placed in each homeroom with marbles or other kinds of small items. Photos of the filled jars were posted at the hashtag #choosekind. Each classroom received a certificate of achievement and was listed on the Certified Kind Classroom Registry at choosekind. tumblr.com/map.

To end the month long campaign, students enjoyed an assembly with Basketball Jones. He encouraged students to look for the good in others and to treat people the way they want others to treat them.

“Basketball Jones also goes one step further by encouraging students to understand and accept the differences in others, so we can treat others the way they want to be treated,” said Read. “It was the perfect ending to a perfect family and school initiative.”

Chagrin Falls Students Excel in Science Olympiad Invitationals Chagrin Falls High School students participated in four Science Olympiad Invitationals held throughout Northeast Ohio during the months of January and February. At these tournaments, teams had the chance to perfect their devices, get a feel for the difficulty level of tests and labs and see a real tournament in action.

There were approximately 60 teams from all over Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky at the invitationals.

At the Kenston Invitational on January 14, Danielle Currey and Kylee Cox received fifth place in the category of Anatomy.

On February 4 at the Solon Invitational, Jennie Stemler and Danielle Currey placed third in the category of Anatomy; Danielle Currey and Anastasia Katkovskaya placed sixth in the category of Microbes; Danielle Currey and Jacey Workum placed fourth in the category of Optics; and Milly Mason and Molly Carroll placed sixth in the category of “Write it/Do It.” At the Mentor Invitational on February 11, Danielle Currey and Anastasia Katkovskaya placed fourth in the category of Anatomy; Chris Currey and Danielle Currey placed fourth in the category of “Odds and N’s,” and Julia Workum and Reese Fuller placed eighth in the category of Ecology.

On February 25 at the Case Regional Invitational, placing fourth was Andrew Collins and Matt Witalec in the category of Hydrogeology and Danielle Currey and Jacey Workum in the category of Optics. Placing fifth was Danielle Currey and Chris Currey in the category of Wind Power and Hanne Wilson and Molly Carroll in the category of “Write It/Do It.”

For more than 30 years, Science Olympiad has been North America’s most prestigious team science and technology competition. Ohio Science Olympiad is dedicated to improving the interest of all students in the ever-changing world of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). A strong emphasis is placed on active, hands-on participation, social development, leadership, and problem-solving skills to motivate and energize students to excel in and out of the classroom. Students demonstrate their skills and knowledge by participating in competitions that are similar to academic track meets. These competitions consist of a series of 23 team events for both middle and high school students. Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the everchanging nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Through Science Olympiad, students, teachers, parents, principals, and business leaders band together to work toward a shared goal.

Chagrin Falls High School Teacher Selected as WVIZ Innovative Educator Chagrin Falls High School teacher, Angie Jameson, was selected as a WVIZ Innovative Educator by the Steering Committee of the Ideastream Education Advisory Council.

Innovative Educators are selected as educators who share outstanding examples of integrating technology into teaching and learning.

In order to accept the recognition, Jameson is required to give a presentation at The Idea Center on April 25 demonstrating her teaching as well as an overview of the methods she uses to teach and how she integrates technology into her classroom. Jameson was nominated by fellow colleague, Nancy Kevern.

Chagrin Falls Middle School Competes in Power of the Pen Chagrin Falls Middle School Power of The Pen team competed at the district tournament at University School this month. A total of 207 writers participated from 19 schools in Cuyahoga, Lake and Summit Counties. The team members competed in three, 40-minute rounds of writing and had their individual pieces rated against the Power of the Pen rubric. The pieces are judged holistically based upon the development and completion of an entire narrative. Only a small percentage of the writers score high enough to move on to the regional competition. The following three writers will represent Chagrin Middle School at the Regional competition in Hudson on April 8: seventh grader Sophia Avery and eighth graders, Madeleine Scott and Dena Mossad. Dena was awarded a “Superior” rating, which indicates that her scores were in the top 5% of the writers.

Two Chagrin Falls’ Students Compete in Excel TECC Skills USA North-Central Regional Competition On February 25, two Chagrin Falls High School students competed in the Excel TECC Skills USA North-Central Regional Competition. The students received a medal and qualified for the state competition. Congratulations to David McCuaig, who received a gold medal in Medical Technologies - Basic Health Care Skills and Lauren Boral, who received a bronze medal in Medical Technologies - Health Knowledge Bowl.

Students Excel at GCCTM Math Contest

The Chagrin Falls Middle School (CFMS) Math Teams sharing a morning of intellectual challenge at the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ (GCCTM) Math Contest at Hawken on Saturday, March 4. CFMS was represented by 18 outstanding mathematicians. All teams were honored with awards. Special Award ribbons went to: The Mathletes: Molly Lowe, Aidan Stephenson, and Christian Hoimes and The Pink Zebras: Kasey

Ruffer, Madeleine Scott, and Elle Moore. Champion Awards went to: The Improper Fractions: Mary Condon, Holden Woofter, and Ian Rogers; The Triple A Batteries: Alexandra Holtz, Aubree Daugherty, and Adam Hamdan; and A SIN (of a good team): Annie Scott, Ben Streicher, and Jackson Quinn. Medal Awards went to: The Thirteens: Trey Brosnan, Josh Rooney, and David Skocic.

School Councils Enjoy Lunch and a Musical

On March 8, the Chagrin Falls Schools' Senior Council, as well as retired Chagrin staff members, enjoyed lunch and a performance of the high school's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The Superintendent's Business Advisory members also met the same day. Thank you to both groups for your continued partnership and support of our schools and community.

Chagrin Falls Athletic Director Named “Athletic Director of the Year” by Northeast Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Charlie Barch, Chagrin Falls High School Athletic Director, has been recognized as the Northeast Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NEOIAAA) Athletic Director of the Year. “Charlie exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism and has made significant contributions to their students, school and community,” said Kevin Leigh, awards committee chairperson. Barch will be recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet on April 9 at the Sheraton Suites Hotel in Cuyahoga Falls.

Barch was hired at Chagrin Falls Schools as the District Athletic Director in the fall of 2010. At Chagrin, Barch coordinates the 24 varsity sports and 10 middle school sports. During his tenure, the teams have garnered 24 league championships, 10 final four appearances, five state finals appearances, and one state championship. Along with the team successes, there have been six individual state championships while Barch has been Athletic Director. The district has also had many athletic facility improvements since Barch began in the district. The high school gym hallway was updated, there was a new fitness center constructed, multiple scoreboards have been replaced, and the existing turf was replaced at the stadium.

Barch is currently a Registered Athletic Administrator with the NIAAA and hopes to soon be a Certified Athletic Administrator.

Chagrin Falls High School Speech & Debate Team Sends 25 Students to State Finals The Chagrin Falls High School Speech & Debate team finished the regular season with 25 students qualifying for the State Finals. This year, the State Finals were held in the Cleveland District at BereaMidpark and Olmsted Falls High Schools. Over the course of the two-day tournament final results were: Senior Matt Batos broke to the Octa-final round in Lincoln Douglas Debate; Junior Anna Sherman placed sixteenth overall in Original Oratory in the State; The DUO Interpretation team of juniors Ben Cervelloni and Joey King placed second overall in the State; the DUO Interpretation team of sophomores Olivia Andresen and Margaux Augier placed tenth overall in the State, and the DUO Interpretation team of seniors Rem Weber and Karl Koenig placed thirteenth overall in the State.

The team will be competing in the Nationals in Birmingham, Alabama, June 18-23, where juniors Chris Currey & Jack Reboul will compete in Public Forum Debate, juniors Ben Cervelloni and Joey King will compete in DUO Interpretation, and junior Anna Sherman will compete in Original Oratory.

Winter Athletic Season Highlights The winter sports season at Chagrin Falls High School has come to a close and it was another exciting one.

Winter sports garnered five first team all-conference members, 18 second team all-conference members, and 10 honorable mention all-conference members.

On the ice, the boy’s hockey team won the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League White South Division going 9-0-1 in league play.

The teams were not only successful on the field of play, but also in the classroom. Thirty student athletes were named Chagrin Valley Conference (CVC) All Academic. In order to be named CVC All Academic, a student-athlete must be a senior, have over a 3.25 cumulative GPA, and lettered twice in his/her sport.

In the pool, 23 swimmers and divers qualified for districts. Swimming and Diving also had two studentathletes qualify for states. Peter Nachtwey, senior

The wrestling team also had a great season with three district qualifiers.

Chagrin Specialty License Plates Now On Sale Have you purchase your Chagrin Falls Schools' specialty license plate yet?

In 2015, State Reps. Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) and Sarah LaTourette (R-Bainbridge Township) introduced legislation that would create an additional funding source for the school district of Chagrin Falls Exempted Village. The piece of legislation would create specialty license plates with a special design for the entire school district. With the purchase of the specialty license plates, the school will receive additional funding that will be designated to assist in the emotional and mental well-being of the students.

Customers may purchase the plate online at https://services.dps.ohio.gov/ BMVOnlineServices/VR/Availability or at their local deputy registrar office.

There will be an additional charge of $40 on top of the original costs for the plate -- $10 to be used by the BMV for administrative purposes and $30 to be directly earmarked to the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village School District. Purchasers of the plates shall remain anonymous from any school database unless they complete a consent form to release their information to the schools.

Chagrin Fall Superintendent Bob Hunt said, "The Chagrin Falls Exempted Village School district is appreciative of the efforts made by Representative Anielski to create revenue to support the emotional health of students within our district. This legislation provides an outlet for residents to demonstrate and grow community pride while providing resources to help young people."

Derrick Vehar, an 11th grade student at Chagrin Falls High School, created the design under the direction of his art teacher, Dawn Serazin. Vehar received a commendation from Rep. Anielski at the varsity basketball game on December 2. On March 10, Rep. Anielski visited the district and presented Superintendent Robert Hunt and Derrick Vehar with their own license plates.

"The specialty license plate for the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools is a new financial mechanism in which the students will greatly benefit," said Rep. Anielski. "I am pleased that my colleague, Representative LaTourette, recognized the opportunity to join me in assisting our most precious gifts, our children, in developing into thriving adults."

Rotary Student of the Month: Grace Hass-Hill Grace Hass-Hill, a senior at Chagrin Falls High School, is the Chagrin Valley Rotary Club High School Student of the Month for March. Hass-Hill was selected for her display of both service and leadership qualities.

Hass-Hill is a 2017 National Merit Finalist, a Cum Laude Society inductee, and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. She has been on the High Honor Roll all semesters in high school. She also was a Brown University Partner and Joyce Ivy Foundation Summer Scholar. She recently was the Ohio winner of the National Center for Women and Information Technology Affiliate Award.

While at Chagrin Falls High School, Hass-Hill was a varsity football cheerleader, treasurer of the Key Club, a math tutor for the Tiger Society, a member of the Science Olympiad, and a founder of the Gurney Coding Club. She also serves on the student board of the Chagrin Falls Education Foundation.

She enjoyed being a Link Crew Leader, robotics instructor, and a participant in the Congressional and Verizon App competition.

Outside of school, she is a Sunday School assistant, a Math Monkey classroom assistant and volunteer for the Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Her Accelerated Classes include AP U.S. History, AP Government, AP Physics I, AP English Language, AP Computer Science, AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, AP English Literature, AP Statistics, and AP Calculus BC. Hass-Hill plans to major in computer science or economics.

Hass-Hill was recognized at a recent Chagrin Valley Rotary Club meeting.

Gurney Elementary Preschool Receives Five-Star Quality Award from State of Ohio In recognition of a commitment to quality and an ongoing dedication to the learning and development of children, Gurney Elementary Preschool has received a Five-Star Step Up To Quality Award from the State of Ohio. Step Up To Quality is Ohio’s rating system for learning and development programs. Participating programs can earn a one to five star rating.

In addition to meeting all standards of a four-star rating, programs with five stars may also: • Have lower staff/child ratios.

• Use child assessment results to plan activities that

best support learning and development goals for each child.

• Share assessment results and create goals for

children.

• Develop plans to support children as they

transition to a new classroom or educational setting.

• Work with other organizations or businesses

within the community to support children and their families.

• Have an active and organized parent volunteer

group.

“Gurney Preschool is proud to be a five-star program,” said Marianne S. Canter, M.Ed., Director, Gurney Elementary Preschool. “We know that children have approximately 1,892 days from birth until school starts, and every day matters. It is important to us that children develop their selfconfidence, social and emotional skills, and a love of learning.”

Research confirms that the first five years of a child’s life has a direct impact on how children develop emotional well-being, in addition to, learning and social skills. For these reasons, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Education are committed to improving early childhood opportunities for all children in the state.

Chagrin Falls Middle School Students of the Month for February The mission of the Chagrin Falls Middle School Students of the Month is to acknowledge and reward students for exemplary performance. The students depict Tiger Techniques: Think, Integrity, Grit, Effort and Responsibility. Each month, the seventh and eighth grade teams collaborate and choose a male and female "Tiger of the Month" and the students receive a special treat from the PTO to take home and share with their family. February’s Students of the Month are: Preston O’Connor, Thomas Gregoire, Sydney Bare, and Alison Tull.

Preston O’Connor shows outstanding effort and precision on his homework. Preston is diligent, has tremendous character and is very helpful to his classmates always leading by example in the classroom.

Thomas Gregoire is outgoing, personable, polite and a regular participant in all class discussions. He is a tremendous asset to any group. The positive energy he brings with him transforms any group he is a part of into one that is energetic and enthusiastic to learn.

He thanks each teacher on his way out of class and

is sure to include all students in groups.

Sydney Bare is a leader in the first violin section of the eighth grade orchestra. She is an outstanding violinist and is always prepared for rehearsal. Sydney is kind, thoughtful and helpful each day to teachers and classmates thanking her teachers at the end of each class. Sydney adds a great deal to discussions and always takes risks in learning. She quietly leads her peers by producing outstanding quality work, participating positively and working collaboratively with any student in the room.

Alison Tull is a natural leader who has the ability to bring together those around her to work well as a group. She leads by example and always demonstrates what 100% effort looks like. Ali is a conscientious worker with a terrific attitude.

Chagrin Falls Middle School Eighth Grader Earns Runner-Up in Plain Dealer Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Chagrin Falls Middle School 8th grade student, Luke Volpe, for earning Runner-Up in the Plain Dealer Spelling Bee that took place the weekend of March 11 at Cuyahoga Community College. Volpe competed against 40 seventh and eighth graders from March 2017 Northeast Ohio and was even asked to spell chagrin!

Chagrin Falls Police and Fire Department Play Students at Charity Game On March 18, the Chagrin Classic Basketball Game featured the Chagrin Falls Police and Fire Department vs. the Chagrin Falls High School students. “This is a great community event that was started by Patrolman Jason Fischer last year and, through his efforts, as well as so many others, we were able to raise more than $6,000 for pediatric cancer research,” said Principal Steve Ast, Chagrin Falls High School.

The fundraiser changes its purpose each year. Last year, proceeds were donated to the Harvest for Hunger campaign. This year, money was raised for a South Russell police officer, John Zippay, who has a son, John Oliver, fighting cancer, as well as Superintendent Robert Hunt’s family’s foundation, lifEXTRAORDINARY, which is being created to support families and raise funds for research. The foundation is inspired by the family’s journey with their one-year-old son Hawken, who was diagnosed last year with Burkitt’s Leukemia.

“The event showed true collaboration among so many students, organizations, staff and our local police and fire departments,” said Ast. The high school marketing class, led by their teacher Mr. Jay Schach, was instrumental in promoting the event that resulted in hundreds of people attending.

Senior Kyle Foley, an art student, designed the logo in collaboration with his art teacher Dawn Serazin.

The high school cheerleaders, band and seniors that played in the game were also instrumental in making the event a success.

There were other exciting activities throughout the evening as well. Chagrin Falls High School 12th grade English teacher, Mr. Culler Stuart, challenged the group to raise at least $2000. Once the donations reached this level, he agreed to have his beard shaved off. At the end of each quarter, Officer Jason Fischer had activities planned. All students and parents who participated in these activities received prizes and gift cards from local businesses – Yours Truly, Burntwood Tavern, Cleveland Cavaliers, M Italian, Domino’s (Solon) and Gioninos Pizza.

The students ended up winning the game with a final score of 54-50.
