We are YOUR Community Foundation. As a permanent resource for our community, we are working to ensure that the quality of life to which all residents aspire is within reach. Let us help you, as we have already done for many others, act on your good intentions. Whether you want to focus your charitable giving, create a new community resource, or affect local change in other ways, we make it simple.

Let’s talk. Call us at 540-213-2150 or email us at info@cfcbr.org 117 South Lewis Street, Staunton, VA 24401 www.cfcbr.org

2019 FINANCIAL REPORT

Dear Friends, I am pleased to present the financial report of your Community Foundation’s work in 2019. We redesigned this to be an online report to stand on its own apart from our printed publications. This will allow us to make each year’s financial report available for your review in a timely manner. Two themes come to mind when I think back upon our work in 2019: Growth and Preparation. Your Community Foundation’s assets grew 30% in 2019. This was the result of the generosity of our donors, who collectively contributed over $3.5 million, and an 18.5% return on our investments. As a result, we concluded 2019 with assets totaling $31.2 million. We also committed ourselves to preparing to lend our leadership to our community in 2020. Little did we know at that time, though, the form and level of leadership that our community would need from us in the year to follow. Our preparations in 2019 focused on launching extensive resident engagement, paving the way for purposeful collaboration across different sectors of our community, and mapping critical community issues that we would need to tackle. While we could never have anticipated that our leadership would be called upon in 2020 as a result of a worldwide pandemic, our growth and preparations in 2019 positioned us well to quickly and effectively respond to that call. It is our continuing honor to serve our community. Whether you are a donor to the Community Foundation, one of our many volunteers, or a partner agency, you make our ability to lead possible. Sincerely,

Dan Layman, CEO
