Dear Friends, Thank you for taking the time to review the 2020 financial report of your Community Foundation. I am pleased to share that good financial decisions in prior years positioned us well to persevere when the pandemic led to a worldwide shutdown. Our strong and stable financial position gave us the confidence to provide leadership in a time of great need and simultaneously launch our COVID-19 Local Response Fund. Largely through that relief effort, we increased our support of the community by 168% in 2020. The $3 million that we distributed helped thousands of residents affected by the pandemic and the August floods in Staunton. In our forthcoming Report to the Community we will share those details, including what we learned and how that work will shape the Foundation’s future. Thanks to new contributions, complemented by the performance of our investments in the latter half of 2020, the assets of your Community Foundation had grown 11% by year’s end. That growth has positioned us well once again for another year of service to our community. Thank you for continuing to place your trust in us.
