Welcome
Dear Member,
I hope this letter finds you well and, as temperatures grow colder and days grow shorter, I hope you’re finding time to relax indoors and enjoy all your public television stations have to offer. From educational projects to new episodes of local productions, our community services extend far beyond broadcast.
Our educational team continues work on the statewide education initiative, Ohio Learns 360, which is running at full speed with weekly After School 360 programs and monthly Family Webinars. There is something for the entire family, so I encourage you to visit OhioLearns360.org to take a look. The education department also released new episodes of our Social Emotional Learning series as well as Talking Jobs and a new edition of Engineering Your Future. Learn more at thinktv.org or CETconnect.org or stream them on the ThinkTV YouTube channel.
I’m proud to announce PMC’s documentary, Redlining: Mapping Inequality in Dayton and Springfield, took home top honors for Topical Documentary at the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) Conference. You can read more about the conference and the award in the Station News section of this magazine.
In the production department, staff continue to work on new episodes of $martpath – a financial literacy program

Our development team is gearing up for our year-end pledge drive, which starts on November 26 and runs through December 4, and for Giving Tuesday, which is on November 29 this year.
Local programming in November includes new episodes of The Art Show and the third and final installment of The Dayton Arcade: Waking the Giant, premiering on November 17. National programming includes a new, two-night special from American Experience that revisits the Iranian hostage crisis, when 52 Americans were held hostage in the Iranian Embassy for 444 days in Taken Hostage: An American Experience Special. The PBS NewsHour team will be reporting on the midterm elections in Vote 2022: Election Night Special. And Great Performances’ Josh Groban’s Great Big Radio City Show finds the renowned baritone returning to Radio City Music Hall to sing with Cyndi Lauper, Denee Benton and NYC Ballet principal dancer, Tiler Peck.
From award-winning local documentaries to educational workshops to PBS programming – it’s all available to the communities we serve because of your support.

New Episodes of The Art Show Coming this Month Ohio Learns 360 in Full Swing
We are excited to premiere new episodes of The Art Show this month! We are looking forward to bringing you awesome stories of local artists and art organizations doing amazing work right here in our community. New episodes include a visit to the Paul Laurence Dunbar House in Dayton as they celebrate the poet’s 150th birthday; a tour of the Sewah Studios foundry in Marietta, Ohio, which creates historic markers from coast to coast; and a meeting with Cincinnati artist Mallory Feltz, who built an interactive display for BLINK. The Art Show is available to stream anytime, anywhere on the PBS Video App or on YouTube. Episodes also air Saturdays at 6pm on CET, Sundays at 5:30pm on ThinkTV16 and Sundays at 8pm on CET Arts. Learn more at CETconnect.org/theartshow or thinktv.org/theartshow.

Our Ohio Learns 360 project, which kicked off last spring, is now in full swing. We are working with stations throughout the state to offer Camp in a Box training to teachers while providing after-school program support, virtual field trips and webinars for parents and caregivers. We are busy planning the next field trip, but you can sign up for After School 360 and the Family Webinar Series online at ohiolearns360.org.

Ohio Learns 360 aims to provide families, afterschool/ summer programs, and teachers with free PBS resources including standards-based curriculum and materials, virtual field trips, interactive video programs, community events and more, all designed to accelerate student learning and support the state’s most vulnerable learners in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Public Media Connect Documentaries Honored at the Public Media Awards
We are pleased to announce that two of our local documentaries were recognized at the 54th Annual Public Media Awards, presented by the National Educational Telecommunications Association in late September.
Redlining: Mapping Inequality in Dayton & Springfield was awarded as the Topical Feature winner at the awards. This one-hour documentary tells the story of local families who were impacted by redlining, and the lasting effects of this federal policy on our region. It also makes some surprising discoveries about the roots of redlining that trace back to our region, and some larger-than-life personalities who have been all but forgotten.

Let Ohio Women Vote also was nominated for a Public Media Award in the Historical Feature category. Let
Ohio Women Vote tells the story of the long fight for women’s suffrage in our state – a fight which created unpredictable alliances as well as surprising connections to national events.

New Videos Released about Schoolwide SEL and Career Exploration

We are excited to have released three new batches of videos: one about schoolwide social and emotional learning and two about career exploration. You can explore all three on PBS LearningMedia (PBSLearningMedia.org ) or on ThinkTV’s YouTube channel. Here’s a little about each collection: Talking Jobs: Learn smart tips from a teen about how to begin your own personal career exploration using both self-reflection and outward reflection to work through the maze of potential career options.
Engineering Your Future: Middle School Edition: This collection introduces middle school kids to STEM career possibilities early on, before they reach high school age.

Schoolwide SEL: Social and emotional learning is key to advancing equity and excellence in education. This collection provides an introduction to the core competencies of SEL as well as indicators of highquality SEL achieved through a school-wide approach.
