August 2024 Public Media CONNECT Member Program Guide

Page 1

Welcome

Dear Member,

Within this edition of Connect, you’ll find a listing of our Premier Circle and Visionary Members and the foundations who support us. Their support, and yours, enables us to provide quality PBS programming, educational resources and local productions to the people of Southwest Ohio. Thank you for supporting your public television stations!

In these waning days of summer, schools may still be on break, but our education team has been out and about in our communities – participating in Pop Up Play events and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Block Parties in Cincinnati and taking part in the Free Family Film Series at The NEON in Dayton.

Our production team was recognized earlier this summer by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences regional chapter with 11 Emmy nominations for our work in 2023. The regional Emmy awards gala was held on July 20 (after this edition of Connect went to press). Visit thinktv. org/emmy or CETconnect.org/emmy for more information.

The online Action Auction returns next month – our development team is putting the finishing touches on this wonderful event. From September 9 - 15, you’ll be able to bid on unique experiences, gift cards to restaurants, wine and much more. Visit our websites to preview available items.

PBS programming this month finds the continuation of the summer mysteries with Grantchester, Professor T (UK) and D.I. Ray. Odysseus Returns views the controversy surrounding an amateur historian who insists he found the bones of Odysseus, the subject of Homer’s epic poem. Great Performances “From Vienna” features the annual summer concert by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Counting the Vote: A Firing Line Special with Margaret Hoover is a one-hour documentary that explores the state of voting in America before the 2024 presidential election. From educational resources to community events to PBS programming and local productions – all of it is possible because of your support. Thank you. Enjoy the final weeks of summer.

CET Action Auction Open September 8 through September 15

The CET Action Auction is returning in September! Bidding will open for all items at noon on Sunday, September 8, and conclude on Sunday, September 15 at 9pm. There will be no on-air component to the auction this year, but there will be great deals available! Bidding

All bidding will be online again this year. We’ll be using the GiveSmart platform and you will be able to bid on a smartphone, tablet or computer. There will not be items that close every night of the auction, there will only be two separate closing times: Thursday, September 12, at noon and Sunday, September 15, at 9pm.

Closing

To find when items will close, choose “View Items” on the GiveSmart homepage: https://ActionAuction. givesmart.com.

Here’s what it will look like:

Then select “Categories”

That will open the list of the categories for all of the items being offered, during the auction. Select “Sept 12” or “Sept 15” to determine when a particular item will close – see example below.

Registration

Before placing your first bid, you will need to register on the GiveSmart system. Registration can take place prior to the start of the auction or you can register when you are ready to place your first bid. You will need a debit or credit card to register. Please check your information to be certain that we have your correct address, phone number and email address. If you would like the option to pay by check when picking up your items at CET,

you will still need to have a credit or debit card on file to bid. If you receive a notification that you are a winning bidder and would like to pay by check, you will need to contact the Auction Office (513-345-6579) within two hours of the closing time to request that your registered card not be charged.

Major Gifts

We have some awesome Major Gifts available again this year. The bidding process will be the same on these items as for our General Merchandise. You can search for those items by subcategory, but they will also be in the Major Gifts category.

Questions

For questions or concerns with registration, bidding or any other topic there please contact us via email at actionauction@cetconnect.org or call 513-345-6579 Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

Thank you for your continued support. As usual, Bid High and Bid Often!!

Dennis and Francis Halaby

Since 1975, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Halaby have valued CET’s entertaining and educational programming. Dennis, a retired attorney and Francis, a retired school teacher, choose to contribute to CET through a Charitable Gift Annuity. They will enjoy the security of fixed payments for life while supporting the important mission of CET

To learn how a Charitable Gift Annuity could work for you, contact:
