Welcome

Dear Member:
Welcome to March and the arrival of spring! The promise that comes with the season of renewal and new beginnings feels more fitting now than ever for public television. The funding battle is far from over, but your support is the momentum that has carried us to where we are today and drives our path forward. March marks our most important membership drive of the year. We ask our valued members to renew their generous support, and we hope new members will join you in supporting the most widely used non-profit organization in our region. Thanks to Dr. Stanley and Mickey Kaplan Foundation Challenge Grant, $65,000 of new and upgraded membership dollars will be matched through March. Your membership makes our work possible, allowing us to host community events and provide you with award-winning local and national programming.
I want to thank everyone who attended our Gin & Baking event last month at the Dayton Beer Company, our third annual alcohol and baking event with Stephanie, host of Stephanie’s Recipe Journal , and AJ of GnTellectuals. We also hosted our second virtual wine tasting with Rick Steves. Both of these events were wonderful ways to stay social and engage with our viewers during wintery days. This month, our painting event “Happy Little Trees: An Evening of Art & Joy with Nic Hankins” is just around the corner on March 5 at Artworks. We hope to see you there!
I also want to congratulate our education team for their work at the 2026 Ohio Educational Television Conference in Columbus, Ohio last month. CET and Think TV joined other Ohio PBS stations to host one of the nation’s premier PK–20 state educational technology conferences. Through this collaborative effort, we served more than 2,000 attendees and featured more than 300 sessions to empower educators from across the state.
National PBS programming features a new lineup of dramas, premiering March 22. Season 15 of Call the Midwife finds several of the women of Nonnatus House embracing the women’s liberation movement. The Forsytes on Masterpiece chronicles the lives, loves, trials, and triumphs of a Victorian era stockbroking family. The Count of Monte Cristo on Masterpiece is a new adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ novel that follows Edmond Dantès, a young man falsely accused of treason and imprisoned. On the local production side, look for new episodes of The Art Show , Stephanie’s Recipe Journal , SHOWCASE with Barbara Kellar , and Brick by Brick: Solutions for a Thriving Community . As we enter the spring season, CET and Think TV remain rooted in our mission to strengthen the communities we serve. From community events to local productions and national PBS programming, it’s all possible because of you. Thank you for supporting your public television stations.

Member Spotlight – Colleen M. From Cincinnati, Ohio
A member of CET since 1996, Colleen has been connected to public television for most of her life. Colleen and her younger sisters encouraged their parents, Eleanor and Joe, to become CET members in the 1980s, and they’ve kept their membership ever since. Growing up, PBS was a constant presence in their home, and programs like NOVA helped spark Colleen’s interest in science, inspiring her to study microbiology.
PBS shows like Sesame Street and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood shaped Colleen’s love for learning and entertainment. She holds a particularly meaningful memory of PBS from her son’s early childhood. Born extremely premature, he faced significant developmental challenges. While watching
Sesame Street , he pointed to Big Bird and said “Baba,” which confirmed he was making important connections and understanding language. Today, Colleen watches PBS programming every week, and Passport allows her to keep up with favorite shows on her own schedule, including Miss Scarlet and Grantchester . She also enjoys documentaries from Ken Burns, travel programs from Rick Steves and Finding Your Roots from Henry Louis Gates, Jr., which allow her to learn more about history, science and the world. Colleen loves PBS for the wide-ranging programming and donorsupported mission, which reflects a shared belief that every story matters and every voice deserves to be heard.

Mildred “Millie” Mooney lived a long life shaped by curiosity, travel, and a love of learning. Born in San Diego in 1925, she explored America from coastto-coast as a young girl with her father, eventually landing in Dayton near family. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University, she went on to build a career in early computer programming at WrightPatterson Air Force Base.
She never stopped asking questions or seeking understanding.
For more than 40 years, Millie generously supported ThinkTV She found inspiration in ThinkTV’s fact-based documentaries, music, and diverse programs.
