I TO CARE

f you’ve seen a training by Teepa Snow, it isn’t something you are likely to forget. She commands attention, switching quickly between addressing the room and interjecting with seemingly random thoughts and exclamations. The approach is intentional. This, she’s illustrating, is what you might experience when you are engaging with an individual with brain change. Brain change is how Snow refers to physical and chemical changes that happen in the brain over time due to conditions such as Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Beyond memory loss alone, brain change can impact communication, movement, impulse control, sensory processing and other areas, all affecting how an individual experiences and interacts with the world around them.
