NEWYA Celebrates Student Success & Continued Program Growth Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship (NEWYA) celebrates another successful year connecting students with meaningful career opportunities across the region, achieving significant participation growth while maintaining a strong focus on student success. During the 2025–26 school year, NEWYA served 2,054 students, an increase from 1,559 the previous year. This represents nearly 32% growth in student participation and reflects the continued commitment of regional school districts, employers, and community partners to expanding work-based learning opportunities. Beyond participation, the consortium remains focused on student success. During the 2025–26 school year, 1,177 graduating seniors successfully completed their Youth Apprenticeship, representing a 91% completion rate. This achievement highlights students' dedication, employers' support, and the important role school-based Youth Apprenticeship coaches play in helping students succeed. Through Youth Apprenticeship, students gain paid, hands-on experience in career pathways ranging from healthcare and manufacturing to construction, business, information technology, and many others. These experiences let students explore career interests, build technical and employability skills, and make more informed decisions about their futures. A key component of NEWYA's success is its school-based coaching model. Youth Apprenticeship coaches work directly within partner high schools, helping students navigate the application process, connect with employers, and successfully progress through their apprenticeship experience. As NEWYA continues to grow, the consortium remains committed to expanding access, strengthening employer partnerships, and ensuring students have the support they need to succeed.
