Staff Showcase MEET THIS WEEK’S VALUED TEAM MEMBER I am currently in my third year as a NEWYA School-Based Coach at Hartford Union High School. In this role, I support students as they take early steps into the workforce—helping them explore career interests, prepare for employment, and build the skills needed to succeed on the job. This includes working on resumes, interview preparation, and understanding workplace expectations, while also encouraging reflection and growth along the way. Much of my work is simply being a consistent support—checking in, offering guidance, and helping students navigate challenges as they come up.

It’s rewarding to see their confidence build over time as they begin to recognize their potential.

I also collaborate with local employers to help create meaningful opportunities for students. This year, we had 140 students enrolled in Youth Apprenticeship, up from 75 two years ago and 103 last year. We were also fortunate to have 125 business mentors supporting our students, a significant increase from the previous year. It’s been encouraging to see the program continue to grow and connect more students with real-world experiences.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Studies from Eastern Illinois University and my Master of Science in Sports Administration with an emphasis in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. I am currently in my 12th year in education, having spent 9 years teaching physical education, health, and driver education.

Outside the classroom, I serve as the JV head baseball coach at Hartford and have coached for over 15 years across various levels of local rec leagues, high school, and travel baseball. When I’m not coaching on the field, I enjoy giving hitting and fielding lessons and running youth baseball camps.

Most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our ten month old son. After moving to Wisconsin three years ago, we’ve been grateful to call it home—especially as a lifelong Packers fan.

I’m grateful to be part of NEWYA and to work alongside a supportive team and supervisor who make this work meaningful. Their guidance and encouragement help me support students effectively and make a real difference in connecting education with real-world experience.

District Spotlight – Kohler School District SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE, STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING CESA 7 specialists are partnering with the Kohler School District to support innovative, studentcentered learning. Through ongoing collaboration, teams have strengthened middle and high school business education curricula to ensure students are building future-ready skills.

Educators have also engaged in professional learning focused on AI, student engagement, and mental health, with dedicated planning sessions throughout the year to support thoughtful implementation in classrooms. Support for multilingual learners has included professional development, collaborative planning, and student-centered coaching to meet diverse learning needs.

Additional work has focused on strengthening career and technical education and academic and career planning through data analysis, teamwork sessions, and coaching. Ongoing instructional coaching and support related to Wisconsin’s Multi-Level Systems of Support further help build staff capacity and improve outcomes for all students.

“Our partnership with CESA 7 provides meaningful support for our staff and expanded opportunities for our students,” said Kohler School District Superintendent Mike Juech. “This collaborative work is helping us strengthen instruction, respond to student needs, and prepare every learner for success.”

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and ensuring every student is prepared for success.
