Staff Showcase MEET THIS WEEK’S VALUED TEAM MEMBER

I am currently in my third year as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) teacher with CESA 7. Prior to this role, I spent 15 years as a cross-categorical special education teacher in the Kewaunee School District.

My transition to CESA 7 has been a great experience, and I truly enjoy my role as a DHH teacher. I value the opportunity to work closely with students, support their communication and independence, and collaborate with staff across districts. My goal has always been to have a positive impact on students and support their growth in all areas.

One of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher is seeing students grow, succeed, and accomplish meaningful things over time. In 2018, I was part of a team of six special education teachers in the Kewaunee School District recognized with a Golden Apple Award, highlighting the great work within our team and, most importantly, throughout the district. In my role with CESA 7, I now have the privilege of seeing countless teachers across multiple districts who deserve the same acknowledgment.

District Spotlight – Plymouth School District STRENGTHENING INSTRUCTION & CAREER PATHWAYS CESA 7’s partnership with the Plymouth School District reflects a shared commitment to strengthening both instructional practices and career readiness systems that support student success. Through ongoing collaboration in literacy and Career and Technical Education (CTE), district leaders and educators are building aligned, sustainable systems that impact students across grade levels.

In literacy, CESA 7 consultant Charla Meyer has worked alongside Plymouth staff to support the implementation of the Into Reading curriculum across grades K–5. This work has included professional learning, instructional coaching, classroom walkthroughs, and facilitated planning sessions. Charla has also partnered closely with the district’s principal team and Curriculum Director, whose openness to coaching and collaboration has been instrumental in strengthening instructional leadership and ensuring consistent implementation across buildings.

Through this collective effort, the district has improved alignment across grade levels and created a clearer, more cohesive approach to literacy instruction.

At the secondary level, CESA 7 has partnered with Plymouth’s CTE team to support strategic planning and program growth. Regular CTE team meetings have created space for goal-setting, collaboration, and alignment on key priorities. Through this work, the district has expanded work-based learning opportunities, strengthened business and industry engagement, and leveraged grant funding to enhance CTE programming. These efforts have contributed to significant growth in Youth Apprenticeship participation, increasing from 16 students in the 2022–23 school year to 70 students in 2025–26.

These ongoing efforts are helping Plymouth build a more connected system that supports both academic achievement and career readiness. By aligning instructional practices with real-world opportunities, the district continues to create meaningful pathways that prepare students for success beyond graduation.
