SECTION 01
Exam Overview The Huawei HCIA-AI (H13-311) certification is Huawei's entry-level AI credential, and version 4.0 is a genuinely different exam from the one most study material still describes. It is 60 questions in 90 minutes, scored out of 1000 with 600 to pass. Everything below comes from CertFun's HCIA-AI exam syllabus, cross-checked against Huawei's official certification page. Two details shape how you should prepare. The scoring is 1000-point scaled, not a percentage — 600 is the bar, and you cannot map that cleanly onto "60% of questions right". And the paper mixes five formats, including drag-and-drop and short response, so pure multiple-choice drilling will leave you unrehearsed for part of it. Booking runs through Pearson VUE. SECTION 02
What Version 4.0 Changed This is the section to read before you buy any study material. Older HCIA-AI content — and a great deal of what is still sold online — teaches the V3.0 blueprint: Python programming basics, maths fundamentals, TensorFlow and Huawei Cloud EI. None of those appear in the V4.0 objective list. The exam has been rebuilt around how AI is actually practised now. New in the V4.0 blueprint DeepSeek — named explicitly, under "Overview of DeepSeek and Its Influence on AI". Transformer architecture and foundation model infrastructure, inside the 30% domain. PyTorch as the named framework, in place of TensorFlow. Large model business process, and prompt engineering as an exam objective. AI4Science and intelligent robotics among the cutting-edge applications.

The practical consequence: if a course or question bank still centres on TensorFlow and Python syntax, it is preparing you for the previous exam. Check the version stamp before you spend money. Huawei's wider catalogue sits on the CertFun Huawei vendor page. SECTION 03
The Six Domains, by Weight Huawei publishes exact weightings, so you can aim your study time rather than guess. Deep learning and foundation models alone carry 30%; add machine learning and the development framework and three domains account for 70% of the paper. The cutting-edge applications domain — the most fun to read about — is worth 5%. 30%

SECTION 04
What the Credential Is Worth The timing is the argument here. US job postings requiring AI skills grew 144% year on year as of April 2026, against 7% growth for postings overall, and professionals with AI expertise are reported to earn around 56% more on average than peers without it. AI Engineer was the fastest-growing job title in the United States, with postings up 143% in 2025. Over the same period, demand for entry-level networking roles has been shrinking as automation absorbs them — which is precisely why an AI associate credential is a better first step than a networking one right now.

Huawei H13-311
Why this one, specifically It is an associate exam with no prerequisites — a reachable first AI credential. The V4.0 blueprint is current: Transformers, foundation models, prompt engineering. It carries real weight across Huawei's markets in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and LATAM. It sets up the HCIP and HCIE AI tracks without committing you to them.
Be clear-eyed about one thing: an associate certification is a door-opener, not a destination. It gets a CV past a screen and proves you can hold a conversation about model architectures. What follows it — projects, a portfolio, the professional tier — is what turns it into a salary. SECTION 05
Getting Certified, Step by Step 1
Check the version stamp on everything If it teaches TensorFlow and Python basics, it is V3.0 material. Discard it.
2
Work the V4.0 training material Huawei's own HCIA-AI V4.0 course, available through the Huawei Talent portal.
3
Build something small with PyTorch A fully-connected net, then a CNN. The exam assumes you have seen the training loop.
4
Rehearse every question format Not just multiple choice - practise drag-and-drop, true/false and short response too.
5
Book through Pearson VUE Sixty questions, 90 minutes, 600 out of 1000 to pass.
For the rehearsal step, CertFun's HCIA-AI practice exam mirrors the real format and weighting so you find the gaps before the exam does. SECTION 06
Huawei HCIA-AI Sample Questions These ten come from CertFun's HCIA-AI sample questions page, shown in shuffled order. Half of them are multiple-select and are marked as such — that is representative, and it is where most marks get dropped, because a partly-right answer earns nothing. Answers are at the end of the section. Q1. How does Huawei aim to support the development of AI applications? (select two) a) By focusing exclusively on Asian markets b) Through partnerships with educational institutions c) By limiting their AI technology to mobile devices d) Offering cloud AI services to businesses

Good luck — and check the version stamp on every resource you touch. More people fail this exam by revising the old blueprint than by finding the new one hard.
