How do y u know? How do you know he is…the one? You may have been asked this question by your parents, your friends, even yourself. The answer isn’t always perfectly clear; he may or may not be ‘ideal’ on paper; you may have known him for only two months or perhaps you’ve been hanging in there a good five years; he may be a cowboy while you were visualizing a business man. The so-called ‘signs’ aren’t always there, but somehow, you just know. At Ceremony, we feel the same way about our Great List of vendors that we recommend. We take this vendor collective very seriously, which is why we don’t put arbitrary consideration requirements in an antiquated form. We don’t have a scholastic checklist to help us come up with an ‘A’ grade. We don’t even have a job application type form to fill out. You see, when it comes to choosing our Great List of recommended vendors, we believe there is no specific formula for choosing who we invite to join our family. Probably not unlike you, we take a look-see at Facebook, we inquire with their friends and colleagues and, most importantly, we get to know them by social networking the old-fashioned way (in person). In the end, we go with our gut. We just…know. You will find that some of these recommended vendors have refined their businesses over the past twenty years, while others bring fresh ideas after having recently started their own businesses. Many of our recommended venues are on the AAA Five-Diamond Resort list; others include charming private estates and everything in between. What they all have in common is that we have a mutual respect for each other; we each genuinely want to see the other succeed; we envision a future together. Do those relationship qualities sound familiar with someone you know? We hope that you will find this varied Great List vendor collective to be helpful in finding your wedding day professionals. There is no single vendor that is perfect for everyone, but there are vendors that are perfect for you. And when you meet them, you will just know.

But for Brittany Arriola, that fantasy is just part of her job. As a bridal consultant at The White Flower Bridal Boutique, Brittany is surrounded by gorgeous gowns all day long and knows the ins and outs of all the designer collections. But with a background in fashion from The Art Institute of Tucson and a gift for creating the most stylish illustrations, it was only a matter of time before her own designs made a very special appearance. Now available EXCLUSIVELY at The White Flower Bridal Boutique is not one but two original dress samples by the salon’s very own in-house designer. “It really is a dream,” gushes Brittany, as she twirls around in one of her creations, a perfectly pink “KAELAE” ballgown, named after her sister and manufactured by Martina Liana.

Owner Courtney Cole-Arlidge believed in Brittany’s talent and saw the opportunity to partner with two of their coveted designer collections featured in the store. A marriage was made between The White Flower and Martina Liana in the whimsically frilly pink dress, and again with Augusta Jones who manufactured Britt’s lace long-sleeved “VIVIAN” gown. “I wanted to honor their existing lines with a design that fit into the existing collections,” says Brittany, “but still put my own spin on it.” Ceremony was thrilled to be the first to shoot these incredibly gorgeous gowns in our “Into the Woods” fashion editorial, as seen in this magazine!

Many of our clients come to us for styling advice and we always say, it’s all about the details, the little personal touches that make the wedding special and memorable for your guests. Here are a few tips for the details that you must not forget while creating your wedding day. Welcome Area First impressions are everything! This entrance area sets the mood for the entire event and should be creative and inviting. Personalize your sign-in station with an item that your guests will sign that can later be put in your home. (Remember it doesn’t have to be a book. One of our couples loves the great outdoors so they had everyone sign a bench that they sealed and put in their garden. Forevermore the names of family and friends will be in a very special place.) Have champagne or a signature drink waiting for guests when they arrive. Last but not least have photos of the two of you, your favorite quotes, or art in frames or on canvas for guest to look at when they first arrive. Lighting The single best way to transform any venue from ordinary to extraordinary is through lighting! This year creative lighting will take precedence in the wedding decor and budget. We will be seeing more chandeliers, market lights, twinkle lights, and candles, all of which help create an incredible ambiance for your guests to enjoy. Linen Select specialty linens for your wedding style and theme. Too many times we have seen clients use the linens provided by the venue, only to have it look like many of the other weddings that have taken place there. Get creative with your linen choices; this is a place to bring in texture, patterns, and color! Have fun with it and if you can’t do it for every table (because of budget) then at least do it for your specialty tables: sweetheart or head table, cake & desserts table, and sign-in table. It will make a difference in the overall look of the wedding. Place Settings When guests take their seats, the details should continue, from the napkin to the chair and everything in-between. The menu is a great way to express exactly what you want to say, use the back of the menu as a thank you note or put your favorite quote here, something your guest can take home and enjoy long after the wedding. Then alternate placing them face up and face down so you make sure guests see both sides. Even the china and glassware can be chosen according to your theme and style. Grand Exit The grand exit is becoming more and more extravagant, biodegradable confetti, sparklers, glowing balloons, glow sticks, sky lanterns, etc. While the rules from venues get more and more strict the allure for the grand exit only grows. Many of our clients are longing for BIG send offs! We are suggesting instead of throwing things into the air, why not leave in an unusual way- by boat, hot air balloon, or vintage car. This will be the lasting memory for your guests.

A wedding planner is different from a catering manager/ venue coordinator in several ways. A catering manager/ venue coordinator is usually exclusive to the venue and will be less involved with the planning, timing and design of the wedding. They are available on the wedding day to ensure that everything on the venue side meets all expectations. They will also provide a preferred list with vendors that are familiar to the property and have continually showed reliability and quality at their past events.

This venue advocate will assist you with anything contractual to the venue specifically, however they will not manage your vendor team, create and execute your day of timeline, or jump into the special details of your wedding day. These key elements are the first step in asking yourself, “Do I need a wedding planner?” And let us tell us tell you why a wedding planner will truly be your best supporter every step of the way. It is important that your wedding planner is your advocate; ultimately, the success of your day is in their very skilled hands. They will want to know about the two of you and hear the stories of how it all began, how the question was popped and most importantly, how you want your day to feel and look like. They will listen and give you honest feedback through a lot of communication, which means a lot of time dedicated to the two of you. They will want to ensure that your day delivers the look that you envision and the feel that you want your guests to enjoy. Overall, a wedding planner and designer will be your leader, your wedding guru to bring all the wedding day puzzle pieces together. It is with those key elements above that your design and emotion will shine through on the day. There is no doubt that you will love every minute of selecting the wedding planner that celebrates with you. LOVE STORY Louise had no idea that their annual holiday photo shoot was actually a cover for Ken's proposal. LOVE STORY Hannah and her mother shared in buying a special doll as a tradition each year for the holidays. Since Hannah moved out, they haven’t kept up their annual purchase. It was Collin’s way of showing her that they can now create their own holiday memories together.

LOVE STORY While Melanie and Julian were on vacation in Switzerland, Julian told Melanie he really wanted to spend one day in the capital, Bern, because it's so beautiful.
