But while the front-of-house experience feels relaxed and effortless, the operational demands behind the scenes are anything but. Fresh products. Tight delivery schedules. Multiple locations. Growing wholesale demand. It all relies on dependable transport and quick support when things need resolving fast. That’s where Centurion comes in. Through a relationship with Warren Fletcher and the wider team, Centurion now supports the business with contract hire vehicles that help keep operations moving smoothly across Greater Manchester.
For Mark, the partnership is about far more than simply sourcing a vehicle. It's about finding the right vehicle for the business, delivered promptly, with dependable repair and maintenance support that allows him to focus on running and growing the company.
But while the front-of-house experience feels relaxed and effortless, the operational demands continue to grow for both Pot Kettle Black and Half Dozen Other, having reliable business partners behind the scenes remains essential. At Centurion, we understand that successful businesses depend on more than just vehicles, they depend on responsiveness, reliability and relationships that support growth when it matters most. 5

PICKING THE RIGHT PARTNER MATTERS GBA Logistics strengthens its fleet with new DAF XF 530 trucks from Centurion In today’s fast-moving logistics landscape, success depends on more than just vehicles on the road, it relies on choosing the right partner. That principle is central to the agreement between Centurion Truck Rental and GBA Logistics, with Centurion supplying a brand-new fleet of DAF XF 530 sleeper cab trucks on a contract hire basis.
This partnership reflects values that underpin both organisations; a shared commitment to operational excellence, reliability, trust and customer-centric thinking.
A Partnership Built on Outstanding Performance Centurion’s approach goes beyond supplying vehicles. Its fully managed, bespoke contract hire solution allows customers such as GBA Logistics to focus on core operations while benefiting from high-quality fleet support. In logistics, great service means exceeding expectations while protecting reputations at every stage of the supply chain. 6
2026
Supporting GBA Logistic’s Next Phase of Growth For GBA Logistics, this fleet investment represents far more than vehicle replacement. It forms part of the company’s wider evolution as it continues to expand its operations, diversify its service offering and support a growing customer base across the UK and Europe. Historically recognised for its traction services, GBA has continued to develop its transport and logistics capabilities, including an increased focus on general haulage. With multiple sites operating across the UK and Europe, the business requires a fleet solution that delivers flexibility, reliability and scalability while maintaining the high service standards customers expect. As GBA continues to grow, operational resilience is essential. Vehicle uptime, proactive support and strong communication all play a key role in protecting customer service levels. This is where the partnership with Centurion adds value, providing more than vehicles, but a complete support structure designed to help GBA deliver every day.
"As our business continues to evolve, we need partners that understand where we're going, not just where we are today. Our customers expect reliability, responsiveness and consistent service, and that means having fleet support we can trust. What stood out with Centurion was their commitment to communication, service and understanding our operation. It feels like a genuine partnership rather than a supplier relationship." Rachel Forshaw, Managing Director of GBA UK

Getting the Vehicle Specification Right: The DAF XF 530 Providing a high standard of service starts with getting the vehicle specification right. This means understanding the customer, their operation, and the demands of their end customers, from temperature control to compliance and sustainability requirements. It is an area where Centurion’s experienced team consistently delivers. The introduction of the DAF XF 530 brings clear operational benefits. As part of DAF’s latest generation of heavy-duty trucks, the XF range is known for efficiency, reduced emissions, and driver comfort.

Together, these features make the XF 530 a proven efficiency performer in real-world operations, supporting both productivity and sustainability. The specification of the new fleet has been carefully considered to support both operational performance and driver experience. The DAF XF 350’s combination of efficiency, comfort and advanced technology makes it well suited to the demands of modern long-haul operations. Tony Dumpleton, Head of Truck Sales at HTC Group, highlights the importance of selecting vehicles that deliver benefits beyond performance alone:

The introduction of the new DAF XF 530 fleet provides the foundation for increased capacity, enhanced efficiency and improved driver experience, while Centurion's fully managed support package ensures the fleet remains operational when it matters most. As both businesses continue to grow, the partnership demonstrates how aligned values, strong communication and a shared commitment to customer service can create lasting operational advantages. Together, Centurion and GBA are building a relationship focused on reliability, scalability and delivering excellence throughout the supply chain.

FROM AMBITION TO ACTION Tomsetts Distribution's first electric truck proves sustainability is more than a promise There are some vehicle handovers that are simply about adding another truck to the fleet. This isn't one of them.
The arrival of a new fully electric DAF XB marks a significant milestone for Tomsetts Distribution, the family-run Newhaven-based haulier that has spent the last 50 years building a reputation for exceptional customer service, strong relationships and a commitment to doing things the right way. Supplied on contract hire by Centurion Truck Rental and organised by dealership HTC Group, the vehicle represents Tomsetts Distribution's first step into electric transport and another important milestone in the company's long-term sustainability strategy.

A Quiet Revolution on Sussex Roads Supporting the new vehicle is a PACCAR Charger AC 20, a 22kW charging unit installed at the company's Newhaven site. The charger provides reliable overnight charging, ensuring the DAF XB is fully prepared for its daily delivery operations while helping Tomsetts build the infrastructure needed for a growing zeroemission fleet. For Tomsetts, the investment is part of a wider commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2040. For Centurion, it marks one of the company's first electric vehicle contract hire solutions as operators increasingly explore practical ways to reduce emissions while maintaining operational performance. The new DAF XB will support local delivery operations across Sussex, helping reduce emissions while continuing to provide the reliability and service standards that customers expect. If you're around Brighton and Hove, don't be surprised to see it gliding along the seafront or beneath the city's iconic skyline, making deliveries with little more than the sound of tyres on tarmac.
“This vehicle is more than a fleet addition. It's a statement about where we're heading as a business. Sustainability is a key part of how we support our customers, and investing in our first electric truck is another important step towards the ambitious environmental goals we've set ourselves. We're happy to be working with partners who understand that journey and can help us turn ambition into action."
Andrew Tucknott Managing Director Tomsetts Distribution
"The transition to zero-emission transport is happening and accelerating in the UK, with the DAF XB Electric providing the perfect solution for urban distribution. It's fantastic to see pioneering businesses such as Tomsetts Distribution embracing new technology and investing in solutions that benefit both their customers and the communities they serve, and we look forward to further supporting them on their decarbonisation journey. “ Louis Jones - EV & Connected Services Director, DAF Trucks

THE CAMPERVAN THAT STOPPED THE WORKSHOP: SUPERTRAMPED’S ‘JUNO’ BUILD
Some vehicles arrive in our workshops for routine servicing. Others turn heads before they’ve even reached the workshop doors. When Ashley Webber, founder of Supertramped Co, brought his latest build Juno to Centurion Bridgwater for its MOT, our team quickly realised this was something special. A beautifully restored Mercedes 508D campervan, Juno represents years of craftsmanship, creativity and persistence. Behind it is Ashley’s own journey from self-employed plumber to one of the UK’s most talked-about luxury campervan creators. 20 Centurion Truck Rental
2026
A ski trip that changed everything In 2015, Ashley had just become a self-employed plumber after following in his father’s footsteps and studying the trade at college. Before starting that next chapter, he booked eight weeks in the French Alps to ski and experience something different. That trip ended up changing everything… While there, Ashley discovered freestyle skier Manu Fombetirre, who travelled in a converted bus called The Chanchita. It introduced him to the idea of living and travelling in a converted vehicle. “It was a completely new concept to me, and I quickly fell in love with the idea of having a tiny home on wheels that you could use to explore the world.” When he returned home, he bought his first vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz 709 called Bruce. Using practical skills he’d learned on building sites, mixed with plenty of trial and error, he spent over a year transforming it into his first camper conversion. When he shared the finished build online, it quickly gained attention. Soon after, people began asking if he could create their own dream builds. That was the start of Supertramped Co.
21 Centurion Truck Rental

Creating standout builds Since launching the business, Ashley has become known for building highly personalised camper conversions that combine craftsmanship with standout design. Projects like Ernie, Rumi and Nora have built a loyal online following, with each vehicle showcasing unique interiors, clever off-grid features and exceptional attention to detail. From handcrafted finishes to smart technology, every build is completely individual and absolutely stunning.
The Juno challenge Juno may be one of Ashley’s most ambitious builds yet. The Mercedes 508D underwent a near full restoration and features: Solid oak parquet flooring Cedar cladding Full tiled shower room Triple-glazed skylight Lithium battery systems Custom roof rack Full chassis restoration Mechanical upgrades throughout After years of work, the final challenge was bringing it in for its MOT.
Ashley openly shared the nerves of driving Juno to the test centre, worrying about weight limits, brake performance and whether the build would meet every requirement. It passed first time. Juno also came in comfortably under its maximum weight allowance, another huge milestone for such a detailed build. 22 Centurion Truck Rental
2026
Juno impressed the workshop team The vehicle certainly made an impression at Centurion Bridgwater. Workshop Manager Chloe said the team always looks forward to seeing Ashley's latest projects arrive, as every build is completely unique. She described Juno as beautifully finished, with an exceptional level of detail and craftsmanship throughout. That view was shared across the workshop, with technicians particularly impressed by the quality of the restoration work underneath the vehicle and the attention to detail across the entire build.
Supporting every type of vehicle From commercial fleets to bespoke builds, we approach every vehicle with the same commitment to expert workmanship and keeping customers moving safely. We're delighted Juno passed its MOT first time and proud to have played a small part in this milestone. Congratulations to Ashley, Daniel, and the Supertramped Chloe Cable Workshop Manager

THE FIRST TRUCK IS THE HARD ONE
Running it day to day
Learning from the pilot and scalig on the evidence
Going Electric: The Truck Is The operator's guide to the zeroEasy Part An emission transition. Start here. Most operators start in the wrong place. They go to a truck show, sit in a cab, get a quote, and build a business case around the vehicle. Six months later they find out the depot can't power it, the routes don't suit it, and the recovery firm can't lift it off the hard shoulder. The truck was never the problem. If you're an SME operator weighing up zero-emission vehicles, this series is the sequence I wish someone had handed me before we put our first electric 42-tonner into service. Not the glossy version. The actual order of operations, the bits that bite, and where the money and the time really go.
Here's the take, and it runs through everything that follows. The order you do this in matters more than any single decision you make along the way. Get the sequence right and the rest is just work. Get it wrong and you'll spend a fortune learning it the hard way. 25
2026
Two things sit at the front, and they're the two nobody gets excited about. Your duty cycles and your power. What your vehicles actually do all day, and whether your depot can feed an electric one. Everything else depends on those two answers: the vehicle, the chargers, the commercial case, all of it. You can order a truck in an afternoon. A grid connection can take eighteen months. That alone tells you where to begin. This isn't a pitch for going electric. Plenty of work doesn't suit it yet, and pretending otherwise helps no one. It's a clear-eyed walk through what's actually involved once you've decided to find out whether it works for you. Some of your fleet will be ready for this today. Some won't be ready for years. The whole point of the exercise is knowing which is which before you spend a penny.
A word on who this is for. If you've got a sustainability team, fifty EVs already on the road, and a consultant on retainer, you don't need it. This is for the operator running a couple of depots on a tight margin who keeps reading that electric is coming and wants to know what it takes in practice. Operator to operator. No jargon, no agenda.
26
2026
Here's the road ahead. 1. Duty cycles. Before you buy anything, work out which of your vehicles can go electric now. The data's already sitting in your telematics. 2. Power. The long lead item, and the one operators consistently underestimate. Why you talk to your network operator before you talk to a dealer. 3. Charging. How many, how fast, and how to manage the load so you don't trip your supply or get battered on demand charges. 4. The commercial case. Why the sticker-price comparison is the wrong one, and where total cost of ownership actually lands. 5. Choosing the vehicle. Matching range and payload to the work, and what to check beyond the spec sheet. 6. Making it work day to day. Drivers, scheduling, maintenance, and the breakdown problem nobody warns you about. 7. Running it and scaling. Treating the first truck as a learning platform before you commit to a fleet.
Want to learn more?
Work through it in that order and you'll make decisions in the right sequence, with the expensive surprises moved to the front where you can plan for them instead of tripping over

THE CHALLENGES FACING TODAY’S OPERATORS
MAKING SENSE OF THE DATA REVOLUTION
What is the biggest challege your customers are facing? Compliance and changing legislation continue to be major challenges, particularly for operators working in London. Increasing costs and restrictions are making deliveries more difficult, with many businesses facing pressure from already tight margins. Some operators are even accepting daily penalty charges simply to complete essential deliveries. The challenge for many businesses is finding ways to remain efficient and profitable while adapting to an increasingly complex operating environment.
Are operators overwhelmed by too much date? The amount of data available from commercial vehicles has grown significantly, and this will continue as electric vehicles introduce additional energy and charging information. However, data alone is not the answer. Operators need fast analysis and actionable insights that improve uptime and utilisation. The best solutions automate data collection, highlight exceptions and support better decision-making, allowing management teams to focus on running their businesses.

Avoid leaving aerosol cans, gas canisters or other pressurised containers in your vehicle. High temperatures can cause them to expand and potentially leak or burst.
Hot weather can cause fluids to thin and evaporate more quickly. Regularly check engine oil, coolant, brake fluid and screen wash to keep everything performing as it should.
Inspect tread levels carefully Low tread in warmer weather increases blowout risk

KAREN’S SEASONAL GROWING GUIDE: Gardening in Summer Summer is here and, with more light and heat, this will encourage the garden to put on a beautiful burst of growth. Potato crops will be nearing harvest. These will be delicious straight from pot to plate, so enjoy your crop, no matter how small or large. The weather will hopefully be becoming drier, so keep an eye on your containers for signs of thirst. Do you have room to install a water butt? They're a great way to reuse rainwater, or you could try using grey water, all your plants will love either. Now that we are hopefully in the hottest months of the year, it's a great time to sit out and enjoy your garden. Keep plants looking good by regularly deadheading and watering, and your blooms will delight you every day.
Feed containers and border perennials regularly. Liquid tomato feed applied weekly will encourage them to bloom into early autumn. Alpines can develop bare patches of die-back or become weedy. Adding some gritty compost to these patches will encourage new growth as well as improve their appearance. Keep an eye on perennial weeds; it's best to deal with them when they are in active growth. Collect and store seed from hardy annuals and perennials for sowing later in the autumn, ready for when spring bursts into life and the cycle begins again.

Before joining the world of accounts, Francesca spent five years working in logistics, completing deliveries and collections in a range of HGVs. The variety of vehicles, the independence of life on the road and the satisfaction of getting the job done safely and efficiently made every day different, giving her a unique perspective on the transport 42 Centurion Truck Rental

Leanne Dunn Away from the world of spreadsheets and accounts, Leanne spent 12 years as a competitive cheerleader, starting at the age of seven and continuing until she was 19. Her team competed at major venues across the UK, including Manchester's Velodrome, Birmingham's NEC and Blackpool's famous Winter Gardens, where they achieved an impressive second-place finish. Stuart Turner At Centurion Truck Rental, our aim is to create bespoke contract hire packages that truly fit our customers’ operations. That means taking the time to understand how the vehicles will be used, how they are loaded, where they operate, and what matters most to the people driving them every day. I’ll be the first to admit that after four decades in the industry, I’m still learning. I’ve made mistakes over the years, but those experiences have helped me understand just how important the details really are. What I still enjoy most is the challenge of putting the right specification together and presenting a solution that genuinely works for the customer. When everything comes together, the right truck, the right specification and a driver who’s happy with their vehicle… That’s when you know you’ve done the job properly. 22 Centurion Truck Rental
