The importance of protecting children’s eyes.
Statistically, most exposure to the sun (75-80%) occurs before the age of 18/20. It is therefore extremely important to evaluate the effects that this solar radiation, both direct and reflected, has on the eyes of children and adolescents. Children’s eyes are still developing and cannot filter harmful UV rays in the most effective way, which is why it is necessary to protect them with sunglasses from the first year of age. Furthermore, various studies have highlighted how continuous and prolonged exposure to UV radiation can lead to serious pathologies and a high risk of macular degeneration in old age.
Protecting the eyes of children and adolescents from the direct and reflected rays of the sun is therefore very important as it protects from UV rays precisely in the period in which exposure to sun rays is greatest and natural protection is least. This is even truer today, as studies have shown that playing outdoors is essential for children to reduce childhood myopic progression, as well as ensuring the correct intake of vitamin D. If you use digital devices, such as smartphones and tablets, in the open air, the threat of reflections of the sun’s rays coming from the screens must also be considered for which it is necessary to take the necessary precautions.
The advice of specialists is therefore to correctly wear glasses with protecting lenses from UVA and UVB rays that are able to absorb at least 99% of UV rays above 400 nanometres. It is also important that the sunglasses are of quality, made with safe materials, sufficiently enveloping to prevent light from penetrating from the sides, comfortable and with guaranteed quality lenses.

Within our range of sunglasses for children, we offer two types of lenses, designed to best meet the needs of the main age groups (Infancy 0-2, Pre-school 3-5, Schoolchildren 6-10 and Pre-teen 11 -14).
Polarizing filters in Triacetate.
An unbreakable material that has the ability to reduce reflections from reflective surfaces and improve comfort, contrast perception and vision quality, offering maximum protection from UVA-UVB sunrays.

SUN SOFT NEWBORN COLLECTION
Active Sun Soft Newborn, our first collection of sunglasses for newborns, is entirely manufactured at our headquarters in Vedano Olona. Every detail of the frames: from design to packaging.
This first collection, Made in Italy , has been designed for those who have made the visual well-being of children one of the main pillars of their specialisation.
The collection includes 5 styles in 6 colours, available from size 34 to 41. These are one-piece frames made of soft, ultra-flexible material with a central anatomical bridge designed for the little ones. The temples are fitted with an adjustable rubber band at the end of the temple to maintain the correct optical centre.
With this collection, we have completed our already wide range, enriching the sunglasses offer with a solution dedicated to newborns and reinforcing our mission, as stated in our pay off ‘Grows with you’, to offer solutions dedicated to the visual well-being of children from birth to adolescence.

Impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses protect your baby’s eyes from harmful sunlight.
To ensure that children are as safe as possible, the elastic band supplied has been tested in accordance with standard 16 CFR 1501 (2019): Procedure for identifying toys and other articles intended for children under 3 years of age that present a risk of suffocation, asphyxiation or ingestion due to small parts. The frames and elastic bands have also been tested by Certottica using an in-house method for the migration of certain elements (heavy metals).
Wrap-around temples with a hook at the end combined with an adjustable elastic cord to keep the glasses in the correct position on the face.
Reccomended position for wearing the adjustable elastic band.
