GRANT FUNDS MEMBERSHIP FOR ALL MARYLAND MAIN STREET BUSINESSES Thanks to a grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, all Centreville businesses within the designated Main Street area can receive a free membership to the Maryland Retailers Association (MRA). The normal membership fee of $150 per year is paid through the grant awarded to the Maryland Retailers Association and is being offered in all Maryland Main Street communities. MRA is the only statewide association representing retailers in Maryland although the group represents all sectors of business as well. It provides cost saving programs and services to assist businesses (traditional retailers as well as service businesses), in operating their companies. In addition to advocating for businesses through legislative lobbying, since MRA has the advantage of group buying it can assist businesses in lowering their costs for necessary services such as office supplies, shipping services, electricity and workers compensation insurance. LOCAL EATERY EXPANDS CATERING The Commerce Street Creamery is hitting the road, thanks to their newly expanded catering offerings. The popular downtown Centreville eatery is expanding its reach while maintaining the same warm hospitality for which the brand is known. “The quality and freshness of the Creamery’s food set it apart from other catering options,” said Valerie Coulby, owner. “We source many things locally and the Creamery’s hospitality is key, we treat everyone like family.” The Creamery’s catering menu offers many of the same items guests enjoy in the restaurant, but with a twist – many of our most popular items are also available in one or two bite-sized versions.
