Life‘s iconic city centre location provides a unique and unforgettable setting for your wedding or civil partnership ceremony and celebration. You may choose to hold your ceremony in our stunning planetarium or in one of our traditional suites; whatever your choice, our friendly, experienced and professional team will help you plan every detail. Of course, you are free to choose a local church or alternative venue for your ceremony. Unlike many other venues, we hold only one wedding a day, so you are guaranteed our undivided attention and an exclusive special day. With everything taken care of, you are free to relax and enjoy your wedding with your guests. We understand no two weddings are the same, so whilst our brochure contains information about wedding packages and menus, it is only intended as a guide. WEDDING CEREMONIES We are delighted to welcome couples wishing to be married here at Life. We are fully licensed for civil ceremonies in our stunning planetarium and in a range of suites. We offer a choice of suites: the Scotswood, Marlborough, Grainger and the Blaydon & Gibbs. If hiring the planetarium or a suite for a civil ceremony, a room hire charge will apply.
PLANETARIUM For a truly unique wedding or civil partnership ceremony, tie the knot beneath starlit skies in our breathtaking planetarium. It’s the largest planetarium in the North, and with its curved walls, 360 degree domed digital screen and comfortable reclining seats, it’s one of the most impressive and intimate venues you’re ever likely to find. Ceremony: 70 guests
THE SC OTSWOOD SUI TE The Scotswood, our premier suite, is perfect for larger ceremonies. This ground floor room is spacious, with high ceilings and minimalist decor – an ideal venue if you’re looking for a classic setting or a blank canvas to transform for your ceremony. Ceremony: 220 guests
THE GRAINGER AND MARLBOROUGH SUITES The Scotswood suite can be divided into two smaller suites which are perfect for more intimate ceremonies. Ceremony: Grainger - 160 guests Marlborough - 140 guests
B L AY D O N A N D G I B B S S U I T E This is our smallest suite, ideal for an intimate gathering of friends and family. Ceremony: 40 guests
To arrange your civil ceremony, contact us so we can provisionally hold your preferred date. The next step is to contact the superintendent registrar to check that they can conduct the ceremony. WEDDING BREAKFASTS AND EVENING RECEPTIONS At Life we offer various function rooms: the Scotswood Suite, Grainger Suite, Marlborough Suite and Blaydon and Gibbs Suite all allow us to cater for weddings large and small - from intimate to lavish occasions. Our suites can accommodate between 30 and 220 guests for your wedding breakfast and up to 240 for your evening celebration. We understand that you want your wedding day to be as individual as you are. Whether your ideas are traditional, creative or quirky, our experienced and imaginative wedding planner will assist you every step of the way. We offer three excellent wedding packages (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and a variety of delicious evening wedding buffets for you to choose from. Our talented Head Chef has created a range of delicious menus, featuring regionally sourced ingredients. If you have any special requests or favourite dishes that you would like to share with your guests, just let us know.
