Third Sunday of Easter (White)

Prayer Focus: Our Confirmands

Welcome to worship at Central!

In the name of Jesus Christ, welcome to worship at Central where it is our mission to follow Jesus by loving God and loving our neighbors. Our clergy, Rev. Thomas Smith, Rev. Dr. Ann Kovan, and Rev. Meg Jiunnies, are grateful you’ve chosen to make Central a part of your day! If it is your first time worshiping with us, please fill out a Connect Card and bring it to the Welcome Center where you will receive a gift from the church. Once again, welcome!

Confirmation Sunday

On Sunday, May 4, Central will celebrate the confirmation of twelve confirmands during a combined worship service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Over the past seven months, these confirmands have taken part in classes led by our pastors, learning about foundational theological beliefs and the United Methodist faith. Their preparation also included time spent with their mentors and a retreat at Epworth by the Sea in St. Simons, Georgia.

Music Note

Our closing voluntary today, Ceremonial Procession (Cortège), is from a set of three pieces improvised in 1928 by French organist and composer Louis Vierne (1870-1937) at Notre Dame in Paris, where Vierne was organist from 1900 until 1937. It was in fact during his 1,750 recital at Notre Dame that Vierne drew his last breath while seated at the console. The three pieces were transcribed in 1954 from the original recording, by Maurice Duruflé, another major French composer and organist. th
