December 1, 2024 First Sunday of Advent (Blue) Prayer Focus: Hope Welcome to worship at Central! In the name of Jesus Christ, welcome to worship at Central where it is our mission to follow Jesus by loving God and loving our neighbors. Our clergy, Rev. Thomas Smith, Rev. Dr. Ann Kovan, and Rev. Meg Jiunnies, are grateful you’ve chosen to make Central a part of your day today. If it is your first time worshiping with us, please visit the rear Greeters Table and fill out a Connect Card where you will receive a gift from the church. Once again, welcome!
Sermon Note Throughout December, Rev. Smith and Rev. Dr. Kovan will be preaching a sermon series titled Living In Between. Advent is a season that invites us to lean into the in-between time in which we live. We live between what God has done in Jesus and what God promises to one day do through Jesus. We live in the here and now with all of its joy and pain, while reflecting on Jesus’ birth and life and anticipating God’s new creation.
Baptism in the Sanctuary Today, John Emerson Dent, son of Caroline and Tyler Dent, will be baptized in the Sanctuary.
Advent Greenery The vases of greenery in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God in honor of Carol Baxley, Betty Hineline, Barbara Holladay, Gail Onley, and Carol Stone by Adriane Reynolds. The Advent Wreath is given to the glory of God in loving memory of Bill Love by his family. The wreaths on The Commons doors are given to the glory of God in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Thad D. Gaddy by Robert and Margaret Morgan.
