Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost (Green)

Prayer Focus: Central’s Children’s Ministry

Welcome to worship at Central!

In the name of Jesus Christ, welcome to worship at Central where it is our mission to follow Jesus by loving God and loving our neighbors. Our clergy, Rev. Thomas Smith, Rev. Dr. Ann Kovan, and Rev. Meg Jiunnies, are grateful you’ve chosen to make Central a part of your day! Whether it’s your first time with us or you’re a lifelong member, we welcome any opportunity to speak with you about how to connect with God through Central. If it is your first time with us, please fill out a Connect Card and bring it to the Welcome Center where you will receive a gift from the church. Once again, welcome!

Music Note

The Offertory Duet You Know Me was written by composer, performer, and educator Kristina Arakelyan. The Armenian-British musician, born in 1994, seeks to communicate profound emotions with her widely praised, 'strikingly beautiful' compositions. Kristina studied at London’s Purcell School, the Royal Academy of Music, the University of Oxford and King’s College, London. She began writing for professional ensembles in her mid-teens and has since reached audiences worldwide with her compositions. Kristina won the BBC Young Composer competition in 2010 and has received commissions from the BBC Proms, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Radio 3, the Royal Albert Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral, Anna Lapwood, the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, and the BBC Singers.

God, Who Stretched the Spangled Heavens COLLECT AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

We give you thanks and praise, O God, that you have called us to this place to hear the promise of your holy word, to be immersed in the font of your grace, and to drink the cup of your blessing. Draw us deeper into your presence and send us out to love and serve. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, we now pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

OFFERTORY .............................................................................................................. Kristina Arakelyan You Know Me

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you have searched me and you know me, you perceive my thoughts from afar. You are familiar with all my ways; Lord, you know me completely. Where can I go from your Spirit, where can I flee from your presence. If I go up to the heavens, if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea. Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light become night around me. Even the darkness will shine like the day for darkness is as light to you. Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day. *DOXOLOGY 95 .....................................................................................................................
