Planning panel says no to Maccas In a major win for the community, the Central Coast Local Planning Panel has rejected the proposal for a MacDonald’s restaurant at Toukley.

Community members have campaigned against the proposal for more than a year, saying it would be in the wrong spot. The panel, which met on Friday, December 12, agreed. The panel gave seven reasons for refusing the application, which had
been given a recommendation for approval by Central Coast Council staff who had assessed the proposal. The panel said the proposed use was contrary to the character of the eastern area of Toukley, especially in its proximity to Toukley Public School, and the residential area to the north. It said the proposal was an overdevelopment of the site, and the impact on pedestrian safety had not been adequately demonstrated. Continued page 10
