CENTRAL COAST ACADEMY OF SPORT WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO Since our launch in 2004, the Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS) has provided well over 3,000 scholarship positions to athletes across a wide variety of sports. The Academy is now planning our next decade of success. The CCAS is a non-profit sporting organisation that exists to provide localised training and development opportunities for aspiring young athletes, coaches, officials and administrators from the NSW Central Coast region. The Academy generally offers around 12 high performance sport programs annually, the make-up of these sports can vary and has included: AFL, Athletics, Basketball, Cycling, Golf, Netball, Rugby Union, Rugby Sevens, Surfing, Swimming, Tenpin Bowling, Tennis, Triathlon, and Future Stars, which is an individual based scholarship program. CCAS programs are known for their high quality, having access to some of the best available coaches in Australia to deliver the skills required to further an athlete’s career. In addition to ‘on-field’ training, athletes are exposed to
personal development education sessions designed to support the on-field training athletes receive. The CCAS receives funding from the NSW Government, it also receives invaluable corporate support from companies and organisations throughout the Central Coast and further afield. The Central Coast Academy of Sport enjoys a well-defined corporate strategy that has served the organisation well since 2004. Many of the organisations major business partners, community partners and sport partners, have been associated with the organisation for many years, these companies assist in the removal of the financial hurdles often found in a pre-elite training environment. In short these companie smake access more achievable. Ian Robilliard. Managing Director

CENTRAL COAST ACADEMY OF SPORT OUR BRAND, OUR CULTURE The Central Coast Academy of Sport is a young, fresh and modern organisation, committed to ensuring every athlete, coach, official and administrator who progresses through the CCAS programs, receives the highest level of support and development. The CCAS logo is symbolic of the organisational culture that is all about innovation and thinking outside the square. Regional sport is a robust industry, it has numerous challenges that include; the cost of participation, the cost of insurance, the cost of medical support, access to high level coaching, quality and access to training venues, strength of competition, volunteer base, resourcing of sports, recognition of high achievers, and much more.
The Central Coast Academy of Sport is well resourced to meet these challenges and by doing so provides access to opportunity for athletes wanting to achieve in their chosen field. The CCAS is able to bridge these ‘gaps’ in the marketplace to ensure our young athletes are not disadvantaged against those within the metropolitan catchment where many of these barriers don’t exist or are minimised. The CCAS always has been, and always will remain true to our brand, to be athlete focussed, to innovate, to think outside the square and to be an industry leader in the sport and business sector.
ENTHUSIASM
Passionate in the pursuit of our objectives.

THE ROLE WE PLAY IN SPORT The Central Coast Academy of Sport exists to provide development support and opportunities within a unique and identified section of the overall development pathway across a range of different sports. Every sport is different, but all have a set national and / or state development pathway that provides the basis for identifying talent and establishing where a Regional Academy of Sport program best fits within the overall structure. At the CCAS, the focus with every sport program, is to identify the unique section of the development pathway where the Academy of Sport can best offer additional and localised support. The CCAS is not a replacement model, rather, we work in a mutual capacity with state sporting organisations, local associations and clubs to assist athletes reach

their sporting potential in a local setting. The economic and social cost saving are significant. Before introducing a sport program, the CCAS takes time to understand the overall structure of a particular sport. The CCAS works with the state and / or national body to formulate a program that will provide maximum benefits to the athletes. By taking this approach the CCAS is able to deliver a highperformance training environment that otherwise might be out of reach for regional athletes. In many instances a state-wide curriculum, consistent age grouping and representative entry levels ensures athletes who are talent identified will be guaranteed a training culture that itself will be beneficial for those chosen to attend.

IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT SPORT When people think of the CCAS, it is natural to assume that the Central Coast Academy of Sport is all about ‘on-field’ skill development. While this is a big part of who we are and what we do, we do much more....
Sport is about regional capacity, it is about building community value and it is finally about being a responsible corporate citizen. It is these key drivers that set the CCAS apart from many other sporting organisations.
We are just as focused on the overall personal development of an athlete as we are with sport specific skill development. It could be said this is what sets us apart.
We are proud of who we are, we are proud to have so many great young people promoting the CCAS brand and our region. We are in a privileged position to help build the Central Coast as a region with outstanding capacity through the medium of sport.
Sport is a cut throat business; professional sport is a vocation reserved for a very small % of the participation paradigm. The CCAS exists to have a positive influence and lasting effect on the lives of young people regardless if they reach the professional ranks or not. Our aim is to support our athletes to reach their full potential both as athletes and as citizens of this region. It is this fact that means support to the Central Coast Academy of
SPORT IS A GAME, BUT SERVICING IT IS A BUSINESS. The Central Coast Academy of Sport is an independent, autonomous organisation, that works in a mutual capacity with other Academies in NSW to form a collective known as the Regional Academies of Sport Inc (RASi). RASi commissioned a report to assess the Economic and Social Value which the regional academy network provides to New South Wales. The report indicates that the socio-economic value of sub elite sport in 2016 is conservatively estimated at $51.1 million. In addition, it was shown that for every dollar invested in Academy based sub elite sport development at least $3 in benefits are returned to the community. It is this strong community value that sets the CCAS apart from other sporting organisations. The CCAS is a progressive organisation, we are extremely conscious of ensuring that everyone
involved with the CCAS has aligned values. In short, we partner and work with organisations who have aligned ‘DNA’ and themselves are community focussed. By supporting the CCAS you or your company is investing in a proven public good. Our baseline argument is about building community value. Our Not for Profit status means we are committed to the altruistic nature of our business and the reinvestment of any profit into our many programs to benefit the athletes. The CCAS has remodelled our partnership program against the key drivers in building one of this region’s most precious community asset. The CCAS is a highly valuable community asset, if Board members or staff can assist you or your organisation in becoming a supporter we would be delighted to assist.
