Arts Bonita welcomes young artists to our new and innovative fall program featuring courses in painting, drawing, acting, music, dancing, and more. These courses offer access to the visual and performing arts for young creative minds exhibiting a strong interest in exploring the arts and soaring to new heights. Students learn important foundations in artmaking and techniques that build on previously learned skills, while having fun with an array of projects and performances.

EXPLORING 2D ART

MORNINGS, 9-11am

Young artists explore fun and exciting ways to create masterpieces while learning the fundamentals of successful artmaking. Students utilize age-appropriate materials as they learn color theory, composition, perspective, and more!

AFTERNOONS, 1-4pm

AGES 10-12 & AGES13+

Through drawing, painting, collage, and other 2D materials, lessons will give students a better understanding of the Elements and Principles of Design. In this session, emphasis is placed on building skills and quality.

EXPLORING 3D ART

AGES 4-6 & AGES 7-9

Discover ways to make fun and creative three-dimensional art using a wide variety of materials. Each week, students learn to construct an abstract sculpture out of paper, clay, fabric, wire, and other found objects. The focus will be on Balance— both physical and visual.

For students wishing to explore their creativity beyond 2D surfaces, this course is for you! Let our professionally trained art faculty instruct you on how to use a wide variety of materials to create a masterpiece. Learn about and construct art forms with inspiration from the works of well-known artists.

Knowing that young artists enjoy having their hands in almost EVERYTHING, we have designed this session for hands-on creative explorers. This is a multi-media class where the instructor gives a short and fun presentation providing information, images, and examples, followed by a thorough step-by-step lesson plan. Each student’s work will be unique as they put their own identity into their project.

As we grow, so does our imagination! This is a short sampler class with a lot to offer. Each week, students create their own artwork based on the elements of design. This is a multi-media class where students will use a variety of supplies and learn many techniques.

BROADWAY BEGINNERS

8 Mondays, Sept 25-Nov 13

This musical theatre class unlocks your child’s personal creativity through performance exercises, music, and choreography. Students learn to collaborate and communicate as a team while building new performance skills through fun exercises of discovery. A final showcase of their skills and growth will be performed at the end of the session.

8 Wednesdays, Sept 27-Nov 15

4:30-6:30pm $230 Member/$288 Non-Mem AGES 8-12

In this musical theatre class students expand upon their skills through exercises in technique and storytelling with emphasis on voice and movement. Explore the more technical aspects of performance by digging deeper into the disciplines and working together as an ensemble. At the end of the 8-week session, this group will perform a showcase of their growth and development.

CONSERVATORY

Over the course of this musical theatre program, teens receive a quality, wellrounded education delving into the three disciplines: acting, singing, and dancing. Learn techniques to utilize in upcoming productions with individualized, one-on-one coaching from three experienced professionals. Students break down the process of character development through active scene study and work on individual material and ensemble pieces. All the techniques and skills they learned will be embodied in a cabaret-style performance at the end of the session.

6 Tuesdays FOUNDATIONS

This six week course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of music. It covers Music Theory, Ear Training, and Solfège. This design is based on a piano keyboard, where sounds can be seen and heard. Classes are presented in a kinetic and entertaining format where teaching and learning occur at an intense but unperceived rate.

* End time may be subject to slight changes depending on enrollment. Private voice coaching in legit vocal technique, in house or elsewhere, is a co-requisite for enrollment

Gulfshore Opera is thrilled to collaborate with Arts Bonita to offer a workshop for solo singers beginning at age 14. This course is designed to work with teens entering vocal competitions or preparing for college auditions singing in a legitimate style. In this performance class students develop stage presence, audition technique, confidence, and poise through weekly performances of prepared solos in a class voice setting. Classically trained professional vocalists, with piano accompaniment, will give positive and constructive feedback as they coach repertoire in a safe, encouraging environment. The workshop culminates with a final showcase performance on November 11.

Explore the world of writing songs in this exciting class tailored for teens. No previous experience is needed. These fun and engaging sessions help you navigate the songwriting process, craft your own unique lyrics and melodies, and work toward complete songs. Nurture your musical talents in a supportive atmosphere, and take part in the empowering and creative journey toward self-expression!
