ABOUT CENTER

CENTER -

It is a noun and a verb. It is an action and a destination.

The not-for-profit organization CENTER, founded in 1994, supports social and environmental lens-based projects through funding, education, public platforms and partnerships.

Characterized by a community of gifted and committed photographers, CENTER has proven for the last 30 years that it can advance photographers’ careers and the broader narrative of photojournalism and contemporary photographic practice. We invite our sponsors to aid in fostering innovative photography that impacts how we perceive and access realms beyond our own worlds.

“In 2003 I won the Santa Fe Prize for Photography, it was totally life-changing. Soon after I left my job and had a career as a full-time artist with a gallery and publisher.” – Alec
