CENTER MLADIH KOPER - CMK
At the Koper Youth Centre, you can do almost anything you can think of. In a single day, you can sit about having a nice cup of coffee and a delicious sandwich, hang out with your friends, play a game of table football, table hockey and/or table tennis for free, record your own music, organise an event or even print using a 3D printer. There’s always something going on here, and everyone’s feeling groovy and in a good mood.
Hall
This is the hall of the centre – a place where you can hang out or pass the time just the way you like it. It also hosts concerts, stand-up events, theatre performances, literary events, travel talks and all kinds of presentations.

A place which is not only for lectures, but for enjoying various events. Here you can find everything, from dancing, exercise, and theatre performances to various workshops and even a 3D printer waiting for you.
Common room
Is there anything better than hanging out with your friends and playing table football or table hockey? Probably not. And where can you do it for free? In the CMK common room.
Terrace
Terrace – a hidden pearl of Koper, a place where it is never too hot or too cold. The thermostat is in your hands, you can choose between sunny or shady tables and chairs. While you’re having a break or during events you can also order something from the CMK bar, which will make your experience complete.

CMK STUDIO RECORD YOUR SONGS AT BARGAIN-BASEMENT PRICES (FOR FREE)!
At the Koper Youth Centre, we are aware of the relevance of young musicians for the local music scene, so we are doing our best to make it easier for young musicians to shift themselves from the living room, through a rehearsal space and the recording studio to as far as the stage.
With the financial help of the Municipality of Koper and the technical assistance of the renowned music producer Andrea Flego, we managed to create a well-equipped studio with a small control room with a mixing desk, analogue compressors and preamps, microphones, a set of drums and other equipment, and a well-soundproofed large recording room, which is big enough for a small orchestra.
The CMK studio enables young, aspiring groups to record their material in a professional environment and under controlled conditions free of charge, and then do whatever they want with it, mixing and finishing it to their own liking. The proof that the CMK studio is built and equipped according to extremely high standards is the fact that it has been used for recording sessions by many renowned musicians, such as Zmelkoow, Fish on Mars, Elvis Šahbaz and others.
If you are a young musician looking to record your own music at no cost or just looking for a studio with good studio monitors and great acoustics to produce beats, please contact us at info@mladi-koper.si for more information.
A conversation from a local rehearsal room, somewhere in the Koper underground:
Guitarist: “Well, we’ve put together quite a few pieces already. What do you say we go and record them”
Drummer: “Yes, just a sec, let me sell my kidney first.”
Bass player: “Don’t be so dramatic, at CMK you can make records for peanuts!”

Markovec DISTRICT Youth Centre Markovec DISTRICT Youth Centre
Address: Cesta na Markovec 65a, 6000 Koper, in the area of the shelter.
In September 2020, Markovec (City) was updated with the opening of the Markovec District Youth Centre, which is intended for primary school teenagers and for secondary school and university students. It offers two music rehearsal halls, a study room, “wacky” experiences from the virtual reality world, or just a place for chilling, hanging out while playing table tennis, table football, board games, or reading a book.
Common room
The common room is, of course, a place for hanging out with your friends or getting to know new ones. There’s a comfortable sofa where you can relax and watch something on the HD screen, you can use a whiteboard, play table football, board games, 3D games on the VR station, or simply read.

Two rehearsal rooms
Both newly equipped rehearsal rooms are intended for young musicians and music bands who want to make music. The rooms are equipped with a set of drums, bass amplifier, guitar amplifier, microphones and a mixing desk with an active speaker.
In addition to the musical equipment, the other rehearsal room also includes a “green screen” for making videos or presentations for school assignments. If required, you can also get a webcam.
Hall
The hall is a place where you can fit 40 chairs and one elephant (the latter fact has not been checked). It is a perfect place for workshops, lectures, exercises, meditation, yoga, film, literary and stand-up events. It also has a projector with a screen, chairs and tables and one large table (no, not for an elephant, but) for table tennis.
Garden
Various events take place in the garden with a beautiful view of Koper, among other things you can also enjoy cricket concerts, a regular feature at the location... It is a place for chilling and chatting with friends.

major projects
CMoKFEST is more than a festival It takes place every year in the first week of the school holidays, i.e. in the last week of June. The festival is all about music, sports and culture, so it hosts various events that captivate all generations with various leisure time interests, but it is intended primarily for young people up to the age of 29. The festival is designed by young people with the excellent support of youth workers, who shape the event to their own liking, from the very concept of the programme to the final execution. The festival also offers numerous activities, such as skate & BMX events, concerts, creative workshops, painting the city underpasses, poetry evenings and other interesting activities. We invite you to join us at the organisation or only at the final execution, when all of us are in a CMoKFESTastic mood.

CMK magazine is a youth magazine and a home for all your creative and also slightly more serious thoughts, works of art, poetry, travelogues, cooking recipes, event coverage – in short, everything that young people want to read about. The magazine is brought together by youth workers from the centre, who continuously support you in your creative work. The magazine has been published monthly since 2016 and you can find all issues on our Facebook page. If you want to share something with others, the magazine is the right place for that.
STYLO - Fashion show for young designers
The Stylo project encourages young, aspiring fashion designers from all over Slovenia to present their ideas and creations to the general public in a fashion show. The fashion show, which usually takes place in Koper in autumn, has established itself in recent years as one of the most important fashion events in Slovenian Istria. Participation in the competition is an excellent opportunity for young creators to connect and share ideas and experiences.

PAINTING & GRAFFITI PROJECTS
So far, we have already decorated four underpasses in the city of Koper: the underpass at the end of the Semedela promenade below the motorway, the underpass under the Semedela overpass, and both underpasses at the mandracchio in Semedela. Every year we add new paintings, so we invite artistic souls to participate in future projects. Local and foreign artists alike take part in the project.

ESC Volunteering
We host foreign volunteers under the auspices of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). At the same time, we offer you the opportunity to participate in youth exchanges and projects abroad, to learn about the habits of the local population and gain new acquaintances that will last forever.
Migetalkanje (wiggletalking)
If you love meeting new people or simply enjoy any kind of movement, WiggleTalking is the perfect activity for you. WiggleTalking gives you everything that those restrictive measures might have taken away – moving and talking – and even more, if you include new acquaintances and free use of an SUP, kayak and paddle boat in the summer. Together we explore hiking trails, cycle, throw frisbee and have a lot of fun and laugh and occasionally conquer a hill or two. As we’ve already said, summer activities are connected with water, and in high heat we occasionally also hide in the air conditioned rooms at Markovec or at CMK, where we hang out and compete in table football, ping pong, etc.

AND WHAT DO THE YOUNG PEOPLE SAY ABOUT CMK?
“The most important thing to me is that everyone who wants to share their knowledge and thoughts can freely join and contribute to the development of the magazine. For me, the magazine was initially a great opportunity to publish my poetry and later also some articles. I'm glad I’ve been able to read interesting articles, poems and stories for a few years now.” – Lia “CMK offers young people a place they can always go to. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of such places on the coast. It’s a place from people for people. Even when there are no events, young people and adults can express themselves through different ways and media.”– Stefan
“Aspiring bands can use the studio CMK and record their songs for free, which is a good option and can help people a lot.” – Blaž
“As a regular visitor, I feel at home in CMK. The atmosphere in the centre is great, and it’s even better now after the recent colourful transformation of the centre. Because I am a volunteer at the centre, I am never bored here. We are always active and there is always something going on. Whether there are concerts, workshops and the like, it is different each time. What I like most is that young people always have the opportunity to organise events and gain new experiences.” - Sara
“I know I can come here, get involved in something and feel productive.” – Sunny

“I think the CMK studio will help push forward quite a lot of music. The fact that the Koper Youth Centre also has a place for rehearsals, and a studio, to help the bands take the next step from that most critical point, all this seems genius to me.”– Ma-

keeping alive the memory and our views of the world and what is happening in the world. I am sure that one day it will also help historians and other researchers explore the life of the period we live in. To me, the magazine represents some sort of freedom – a place where your thought and creativity are always welcome.” – Mark “I organised a number of concerts and workshops, and I am very happy with this cooperation because without the help of the youth centre, I would not have been able to achieve all this. I am grateful for everything that CMK enables young people, and I am convinced that many cities would function better if they had a youth centre like the one we (young people) have in Koper.” – David Nik
“After all, today everyone can have their own software at home and record their own song on the phone, but here the approach is slightly different, a bit more professional.” – Rudi
