In 2024, we saw several years of hard work pay off with our largest and most diverse lineup of Center Presents programming ever. This year had something for everyone. We also held the line for nonprofit arts organizations, despite rising costs and the fact that our building has reached an age where we need to make significant repairs and renovations to maintain a healthy home for the arts. Amidst regular visits from Grammy-winning artists and large reroofing projects, our greatest accomplishment was the success of the collaborations and partnerships on our campus.
With support from the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board, we launched The Discovery! Series, bringing world-class, family-friendly performances to our mainstage at an affordable price. In April, we presented the Tlaxcala Cultural Celebration in close partnership with numerous local, regional, and international partners. This event, which celebrated the signing of the Sister Cities Resolution between Jackson and Hueyotlipan, Mexico, was standingroom only as patrons gathered to watch traditional Tlaxcalan performances in our theater. These two programs are emblematic of the power of partnership that defines our work at Center for the Arts.
Working to support our Resident Nonprofit Organizations is central to our mission. Under The Center’s roof, you can learn to two-step, carve block prints, play the piano, host your own radio show, develop film, and so much more. A major highlight this year was seeing the hard work of Jackson Hole Writers’ Executive Director, Matt Daly, pay off at the reimagined Writers’ Conference, culminating in 2024 MacArthur Fellow Jericho Brown delivering a remarkable keynote speech.

SUSTAINING THE ARTS IN JACKSON HOLE
For nearly 20 years, Center for the Arts has fostered artistic and cultural expression in its many forms, serving as an essential gathering place for our community.
With an endowment below the minimum withdrawal threshold, The Center has survived on annual donations since its opening. This method of operation has never been sustainable, and with a maturing facility and increasingly busy campus we established a set of Strategic Priorities. The accomplishments listed below are the first steps on our journey toward a sustainable future for the arts in Jackson. The time to secure The Center’s future is now.
Our Work Toward Fulfilling Our Strategic Priorities in 2024
Maintain and Enhance Our Facility
• $530,000 was invested in Phase 1 roof repair and replacement
• Over $100,000 was invested in Theater equipment upgrades
Support and Elevate the Work of Our Resident Partners
• Reduced Resident rent by 10%
• Collaborated to co-present 12 events with Resident Partners
Promote Programmatic Excellence, Diversity, and Impact

COMMUNITY SUPPORTERS
“While our philanthropic focus is primarily health and human services, we see supporting the Center for the Arts as a meaningful way to uplift many of the organizations that make Jackson Hole a vibrant, culturally dynamic place to live. We appreciate the diverse programming The Center makes possible, whether through its own initiatives, the work of its Resident Organizations, or as a space for broader community collaboration. We’re especially grateful for the programs that serve local youth, creating meaningful opportunities for learning and engagement.
As business owners, we also recognize the unique value of supporting The Center through Corporate Sponsorship. The Center brings our community together to experience great performances, cultivate different interests, and explore new ideas.”

RESIDENT ORGANIZATIONS
The Center is home to 20 Resident Organizations—independent arts and education organizations that represent a significant portion of the cultural nonprofits in Jackson Hole. The Center’s Resident Partners activate our campus and bring vibrancy to our community.
Through the generosity of annual donations, The Center can keep this vibrant campus thriving with the programs and classes put on by our Resident Organizations. Many areas of campus were designed specifically for Resident Organizations and their dedicated programming. The paint and ceramic studios for the Art Association of Jackson Hole, the multiple dance classrooms for Dancers’ Workshop, and the Black Box Theater utilized by Off Square Theatre Company were purpose-built for these organizations.

THE DISCOVERY! SERIES
The inaugural year of the Discovery! Series was a resounding success, made possible through a vital partnership with the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board. From a vibrant Mariachi band from Mexico City to an awe-inspiring “Urban Circus” from Australia, the series brought dynamic, world-class performances to Jackson at accessible prices, with tickets starting at just $5. This initiative not only enriched the winter season but also reinforced The Center’s role as a cultural hub, ensuring there is truly something for everyone.

TLAXCALA CULTURAL CELEBRATION: THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIP
On April 25th, an over-capacity crowd spilled out of The Center Theater into the Theater Lobby to watch the cultural celebration of Jackson’s Latino immigrant community members who call Tlaxcala, Mexico, home. The evening included an art reception titled “Window to Our World,” featuring the works of Tlaxcalan Painter Pedro Avelino Alcántara and Photographer Erik Susano Sánchez, Mexican food prepared by Central Wyoming College Culinary Students, and film, song, and dance in The Center Theater from visiting Tlaxcalan performers.
Partners: Centro Cultural Hueyotlipan, State of Tlaxcala, Town of Jackson, Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, JH Travel and Tourism, Arts for All, and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.
“This event brought so much cultural enrichment and awakening to everyone involved. For many years now, members of both cultures have coexisted, and very little attention has been paid to the transformational changes we all have lived through. The celebration was a reckoning moment for all of us to acknowledge each other and celebrate what unites us despite our differences. As the parent of a three-year-old son who was born in this country, I was happy to have my child learn about his heritage and enjoy the opportunity to celebrate the fortune of being a member of both communities.”
NATALY ESPINOZA INTERPRETER AND CULTURAL LIAISON
“Nuestro viaje a Jackson. ha sido una experiencia maravillosa que permanecerá en mi memoria como un sueño. Conocer una cultura diferente, con otro idioma que no hablo; conocer ciudadanos norteamericanos que han cambiado mi percepción de ellos. También me ha dado la oportunidad de reconocer lo valioso de mis paisanos en ese lugar; ahora reconozco el enorme esfuerzo que mis paisanos hacen, pues la mayoría trabaja dos turnos para poder enviar dinero a su familia.”
