Founded in Canada in 2013, Cellart specializes in the design and engineering of high-end, bespoke wine environments. At the crossroads of architecture, design, and innovation, Cellart conceives wine spaces as true living environments — where precision engineering meets refined aesthetics and the art of living.

Every project is entirely custom-made, with meticulous attention to materials, light, and wine preservation. The result is a series of unique, enduring creations that transcend utility to become functional art objects and timeless collectibles.

Conceived as a fluid, organic composition inspired by the residence’s open view onto water, this installation evokes the quiet movement of waves through a continuous play of curves and light. The main racking unfolds in soft, sweeping lines, gently echoing this natural rhythm, while the overall structure is defined by rounded transitions and softened edges, including the thermal-insulated glass, creating a seamless and cohesive visual language. Integrated lighting traces the contours of each shelf, subtly revealing the depth and cadence of the forms. Within these curved elements, discreet supports are precisely integrated to secure the bottles, preserving the purity and continuity of the design.

Concealed behind a stainless-steel façade, resting in the quiet of the garage, this built-in wine space reveals itself only by intention. Inside, a dedicated Champagne wall pays homage to the Méthode Champenoise — bottles gently inclined, echoing the slow ritual of riddling. Below, drawers safeguard the most precious vintages, hidden from light yet ready to be enjoyed. Built into the floor, custom compartments for large formats up to 3L extend the overall bottle capacity, conditioned through perimeter vents that circulate air throughout, ensuring even protection without display.

This project was conceived first and foremost as a space dedicated to preservation — highly functional, structurally rigorous, and rooted in a traditional approach to wine storage. The cellar is optimized to maximize capacity, accommodating over 2,200 bottles within a clear and efficient layout designed for seamless accessibility. In the upper sections, peg displays provide dense yet visually organized storage, making bottles easy to identify and handle while maintaining a sense of lightness. At the base, double-depth cabinetry further increases capacity while creating practical work surfaces for unpacking cases, organizing deliveries, or studying wines.

At the heart of the cellar, a full-height island introduces a strong architectural presence while remaining true to the space’s functional purpose. Designed for larger formats, it organizes magnums above and 3L bottles below, serving as both a focal point and an efficient storage solution. Integrated champagne riddling racks reinforce the connection to tradition, reinterpreting a historic winemaking element for contemporary conservation and display. Thermal-insulated glass preserves ideal storage conditions while introducing a controlled visual openness that enhances the presentation of the collection. This project reflects a vision where performance, capacity, and tradition converge — a cellar designed to be used, experienced, and to evolve alongside the collection it houses.

Conceived with meticulous precision to elevate both wine preservation and presentation, this installation elegantly showcases every wine bottle while maintaining a refined, streamlined aesthetic. With only two glass doors on the same side, framing was minimized to maximize visual impact and purity of lines. The central form was engineered to free the ends, ensuring effortless access within tight opening constraints. Backlit acrylic shelves add structure and a soft glow, enhancing the display with a warm, contemporary ambiance. Every element was shaped by function, without ever compromising on elegance.

It begins with the artistic interpretation of a Bordeaux vine root, illuminated and integrated into the door — an organic form that flows across the cellar’s outer shell before subtly dissolving into the bar, creating a symbolic link between the two. Pebble-inspired perforations, drawn from vineyard soils, punctuate the surface, offering discreet glimpses of the wine rack while adding texture and rhythm.

In harmony with the rhythm of the day, these panels remain closed during daylight hours to protect the bottles from direct sunlight, before unveiling the collection in the evening when the light softens and the cellar can fully emerge.

At the heart of this creation are motorized sliding structures that carry bottles across the glass façade, before sweeping overhead to envelop the wine cellar from above. This uninterrupted movement — from façade to ceiling — creates a fully immersive environment, where wine becomes part of the architecture itself. At its centre, a sophisticated bar anchors the composition, while custom 10-foot glass doors introduce a striking sense of verticality, enhancing both symmetry and grandeur. In response to the strong natural light entering the space through the glass façade, the design strikes a careful balance between exposure and protection — concealing most of the collection from direct light while maintaining a sense of openness. Large formats rest within white pebbles, displayed across three podium-like tiers that extend seamlessly into the adjoining bar. Light emanates softly from the upper leather panels, tracing lines that continue throughout the space and establishing a visual rhythm of symmetry.

Playing with illusion, the wine cellar design reveals only the man’s cellar through the main room, suggesting a singular space. Yet a concealed door leads to a hidden tasting room — kept at ambient temperature for comfort — from which the woman’s refrigerated cellar is revealed, supported by an independent cooling system. One space, two worlds, seamlessly divided without compromising elegance or flow.

Blending a modern expression of traditional wine storage and artistry in a uniquely elegant manner, the design is both timeless and functional, offering generous storage while seamlessly integrating artistic expression. At its heart, a striking work by James Hart Dyke — depicting the client’s private vineyard — is framed by floating bottles, creating a captivating focal point worthy of a private showroom.

The illuminated island, adorned with stones sourced directly from the estate, adds a deeply authentic and personal touch, reflecting the sensibility of a passionate wine collector. Every element has been thoughtfully composed to honour a devotion to wine and to shape a space of refined distinction.

Inspired by the protective nature of traditional wine drawers, this cellar is conceived as a fully enclosed environment, shielding the collection from light, UV exposure, and temperature fluctuation. Every element is designed to ensure optimal preservation, with climate-controlled drawers that offer both discretion and precision. The shelving system provides exceptional versatility, allowing bottles to be arranged either perpendicularly or parallel to the viewer — enhancing both capacity and presentation. More than a space, it becomes a finely tuned instrument devoted to the uninterrupted care of fine wines.

Molded in wood, each undulation evokes movement, flow, and organic rhythm, transforming structure into emotion. They cradle each bottle with intention, suggesting that wine is not merely collected, but quietly nurtured. This space features two sculptural units, insulated with thermal glass, that pivot on themselves — each refrigerated from above to preserve the selected bottles until the moment of unveiling. Behind these rotating units lies the true cellar, where the host selects the evening’s wines before placing them in the front displays, transforming them from wine storage to spectacle. As guests arrive, the units are gently turned outward, marking the transition into wine mode. A quiet gesture of hospitality, where selection becomes ceremony and presentation enriches the experience.

A wine amenity with private cabinets designed as a moment out of time, offering an experience closer to ritual than storage. Upon entry, guests pass through sumptuous red velvet drapery — like stepping backstage in a grand Gatsby theatre — before reaching a concealed trompe-l’œil door. Frédéric Cordier Artist

Frédéric Cordier is a Swiss- Canadian artist born in Montreal in 1985. His work revolves around the notion of systems to which he associates the idea of dysfunctionality. His formal preoccupations explore the basic elements of a specific vocabulary, aiming at a highly visual efficacy with simple interventions that play on rhythm and pattern, full and empty, black and white. Through sculpture, architectural installation, and drawing, Frédéric Cordier explores a visual language that focuses on repetition. His solo exhibitions include Toppings (2022) in Lausanne, Vapeurs (2022) in Quebec City, and Night Views (2023) in Montreal. In 2023, he also released a monograph covering his work from 2010 to 2022. In 2024, Cordier participated in the group exhibition Hantologie/Anthologie #2 in Saint-Étienne, France.

“For me, a cellar is a form of grid, a repetitive and utilitarian structure.

From a geometric pattern that I drew and imagined in volume, I intervened on the structure of the cellar in a simple way, by subtracting the elements of its composition. The sequencing principle is thus disturbed by a deconstruction until the complete degradation of the pattern, which is that of the cellar. From these full and empty spaces results a complex and light binary frame in which the bottles will be displayed in a gradually decreasing sequence.”

Inspired by Fade Out, Cordier Compact offers a more intimate, collectible interpretation of the original work — conceived for private interiors, curated spaces, and collectors seeking architectural presence at a refined scale. By distilling the essence of the motif — the dialogue between solid and void — it translates Cordier’s sculptural language into a compact format, without compromising its rigor or expressiveness.

Crafted in limited series, each piece is produced using the same noble materials and meticulous craftsmanship as the original creation. Finishes, textures, and tonal variations can be curated to harmonize with the surrounding architecture. Light interacts subtly with each surface, revealing the intentionality of every gesture and the balance between presence and restraint. A reduced format, yet fully structured — Cordier Compact extends the Fade Out universe with quiet sophistication.

Le Seau à Champagne is a three-piece vessel, meticulously crafted using the finest woodworking craftsmanship techniques — conceived not only for your most exceptional Champagne bottles, but also for the finest waters. Handcrafted from an intricate assembly of multiple wood components, each piece is carefully shaped and treated to ensure structural integrity when filled with ice and water. This artisanal precision guarantees durability, performance and enduring elegance.

At its core, a metal insert cradles the primary bottle, delicately placed at the heart of the piece, surrounded by ice for perfectly controlled temperature. The design also accommodates Magnum formats. The ensemble is accompanied by two metal display stands set on wooden bases, conceived as natural extensions of the central piece. They elevate the composition and transform service into a moment of architectural staging. The exterior is finished in a shimmering pearlescent lacquer, capturing light with subtle brilliance and giving the object a sculptural presence. Available in natural wood or pearly white finish, Le Seau à Champagne transcends its function to become a true statement piece — a celebration of ritual, craftsmanship and the art of hosting.
