The free, family-friendly celebration will bring German-inspired food, music, dancing, competitions, local shopping, and entertainment to the Downtown Square. Attendees can enjoy traditional fare and handcrafted goods from local vendors while experiencing a full afternoon of activities celebrating the spirit and traditions of Oktoberfest. Popular competitions will include the Dachshund Dash, Keg Rolling, Brat Eating Contest, Beer Stein Race, and Stein Hoisting. Live entertainment will feature The Dogensteins, STV Almrausch, and The Royal Klobasneks, with performances showcasing polka and traditional German, Austrian, Czech, and American music. City staff is currently monitoring the weather forecast leading into Saturday’s event. Celina Oktoberfest is planned to proceed rain or shine; however, staff will continue evaluating weather conditions and will make any necessary operational adjustments should conditions impact the safety of attendees, vendors, performers, or staff. Any significant event updates will be communicated through the City’s official channels.
LIBRARY HOURS ADJUSTED FOR OKTOBERFEST WEEKEND The Celina Public Library will have an adjusted operating schedule in conjunction with Celina Oktoberfest activities in Downtown Celina on Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3. On Friday, October 2, the Downtown Square will close beginning at 8:00 AM to allow crews to begin setup for Oktoberfest. Despite the Square closure and event preparations, the Celina Public Library will remain open during its normal operating hours. On Saturday, October 3, the Celina Public Library will be closed for the entire day due to the event environment surrounding Oktoberfest and the increased activity throughout the Downtown Square. Regular Library operations will resume following the event. The City appreciates the community’s understanding as staff prepares for a safe and successful Celina Oktoberfest.
FINAL CLEAN SWEEP EVENT SET FOR TOMORROW MORNING The City of Celina will host its final Clean Sweep event tomorrow, providing residents with an opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of approved household hazardous waste. Items such as lithium-ion and rechargeable batteries, propane cylinders, paint, chemicals, and other hazardous materials can pose serious safety risks when placed in residential garbage. Proper disposal helps protect sanitation workers, first responders, and the community while keeping potentially hazardous materials out of the landfill. Residents are encouraged to bring approved household hazardous waste to the Clean Sweep event on Saturday, October 3, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Celina Public Works, 10165 CR 106. Every item properly disposed of contributes to a cleaner and safer Celina. Residents should review the full list of accepted and prohibited items before attending the event.
CELINA FIREFIGHTER DEPLOYED WITH TEXAS TASK FORCE 2 Celina Firefighter/Paramedic Chris Petersen is currently deployed with Texas Task Force 2’s Severe Weather Package, supporting statewide emergency preparedness efforts as the Texas Panhandle faces a significant threat of flash flooding. With deep tropical moisture impacting the region and additional rounds of heavy rainfall anticipated, Texas Task Force 2 has been strategically staged to provide rapid response capabilities should additional emergency resources be requested. Saturated ground conditions have increased the potential for significant flooding in portions of the Panhandle, making advance positioning of specialized emergency response personnel and equipment especially important.
Petersen’s deployment reflects the important role Celina Fire Department personnel play not only within our community, but as part of the broader statewide emergency response network. Deployments such as these demonstrate the collaborative nature of the fire service, preparing before an emergency occurs, working across jurisdictions and agencies, and standing ready to assist communities throughout Texas when additional resources are needed. We are proud to have Chris representing the City of Celina and the Celina Fire Department as part of this important mission, and we appreciate the dedication of all Texas Task Force 2 members and first responders supporting communities affected by this weather event.
CITY HONORS BOARDS & COMMISSIONS FOR THEIR SERVICE This past Tuesday, the City of Celina hosted a special recognition event honoring the residents who dedicate their time and expertise to serving on the City’s Boards & Commissions. These volunteers play an important role in supporting City initiatives, providing valuable community perspectives, and helping guide decisions that contribute to Celina’s continued growth and success. During the program, each of the City’s Boards & Commissions was recognized for its service, and members who recently completed their terms were individually honored for their contributions. The event provided an opportunity to formally recognize the time, commitment, and thoughtful leadership these residents have provided on behalf of the Celina community. The work of our Boards & Commissions represents civic engagement at its best. By volunteering their experience, perspectives, and time, these members help strengthen the connection between our residents and local government while supporting the City’s commitment to thoughtful planning, responsible growth, and a high quality of life. A special thank you is extended to Ashley Owens, Jeovanna Rubio, and Rishona Raub for their hard work and coordination in planning and executing the event. We sincerely appreciate all current and outgoing Board & Commission members for their service to our community and their continued investment in Celina’s future.
CELINA POLICE CONNECTS WITH COMMUNITY DURING NATIONAL NIGHT OUT The Celina Police Department will join communities across Texas in celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, October 6, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, with activities in Downtown Celina and participating neighborhoods throughout the community.
National Night Out is an annual community-building initiative designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the residents they serve while encouraging neighborhood engagement and public safety. The event provides an opportunity for residents to connect with Celina Police officers in a positive, informal setting while also getting to know their neighbors and building stronger connections within their communities. Throughout the evening, Celina Police officers will visit participating neighborhood block parties across the City, engaging directly with residents and families. In addition to neighborhood celebrations, the Downtown Square will serve as a central gathering location, providing another opportunity for the community to interact with members of the Police Department. National Night Out is an important component of the Celina Police Department’s continued commitment to community-oriented policing. By building relationships before an emergency occurs, encouraging communication, and fostering greater neighborhood connectivity, the program helps create stronger partnerships between residents and law enforcement.
