CITY UPDATES

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS UPDATE: PARKING GARAGE & DOWNTOWN CENTER

This week, Swinerton completed another elevated deck pour along with several smaller column pours. Additionally, S. Arizona Dr has been closed and will remain inaccessible until the street is reconstructed and the parking garage opens. Looking ahead, Swinerton is scheduled to complete another deck pour and additional column pours next week. There are also plans to begin work on the Downtown Center in the coming weeks.

SIP, SAVOR, AND SOCIALIZE AT THE DOWNTOWN WINE CRAWL

On Saturday, March 29, from 5:00 - 9:00 PM, the Downtown Square will host the Chamber Downtown Wine Crawl, offering an evening of fine wines and community connection. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the charm of Downtown Celina while enjoying 10 tastings of exceptional wines from local wineries. This event provides a vibrant and festive setting for residents and visitors to sip, savor, and socialize, further enhancing the appeal of our historic Downtown Square. The Chamber Downtown Wine Crawl continues to be a signature event that highlights Celina’s welcoming atmosphere, supports local businesses, and strengthens community engagement.

CONNECT WITH CELINA POLICE: COFFEE WITH A COP EVENT

The Celina Police Department invites residents to attend the next Coffee with a Cop on Thursday, April 3, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Starbucks located at 1255 S. Preston Rd. This event provides a valuable opportunity for community members to engage with Celina Police Officers in an informal setting. With no formal agenda or speeches, Coffee with a Cop fosters open dialogue, allowing residents to ask questions, share concerns, and build relationships with local law enforcement. We encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to connect over a cup of coffee and strengthen the partnership between the Celina Police Department and our community. We look forward to a great turnout!

COMMITMENT TO SERVICE: NEW HIRES AND PROMOTIONS

The City of Celina is proud to welcome our newest team members. Their expertise, dedication, and enthusiasm will strengthen our organization and enhance our ability to serve our growing community. We look forward to their contributions and the positive impact they will make.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce the promotion of Scott Harper in the Engineering Department. This well-deserved recognition reflects his hard work, commitment, and the value he brings to our team. We are confident that his leadership will continue to support the City’s ongoing efforts to provide exceptional service and infrastructure to our residents.

OWNSBY PARKWAY PROJECT IMPROVES SAFETY AND TRAFFIC FLOW

The City of Celina is excited to announce the completion of the major reconstruction of Ownsby Parkway, a $19 million infrastructure investment aimed at enhancing mobility, safety, and the overall quality of life for our residents. This transformative project has resulted in the creation of a four-lane, divided concrete roadway, complete with an advanced underground drainage system, new streetlights, comprehensive landscaping and irrigation, and critical traffic improvements.

A NIGHT OF APPRECIATION FOR CELINA’S DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS

On Tuesday, March 25, we had the privilege of coming together to celebrate the outstanding contributions of our volunteer members at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet. This event is a highlight of the year as we recognize the invaluable service of those who generously dedicate their time and efforts to our city.

Our volunteers play an essential role in the success and growth of Celina. From serving on Boards & Commissions to assisting at special events and providing direct support to our residents, these individuals bring a remarkable level of commitment and passion to everything they do. Their contributions not only enhance the services and programs we offer but also help strengthen the sense of community that makes Celina a special place to live and work.

A special congratulations is extended to Lisa Whiteside-Morales, who was selected as our 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Lisa’s dedication and tireless efforts have made a lasting impact on our community, and we are honored to recognize her as this year’s recipient of this prestigious award. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of all our volunteers and look forward to their continued involvement in shaping the future of our city.

DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

As part of the ongoing work on the DNT Phase 4A project, please be advised that crews will be implementing the upcoming lane closures. These closures are necessary for transporting topsoil, performing a mass haul of materials, and completing clean-up work in the affected areas. Please note that the entire left lanes will not be closed, and we will ensure there are no conflicts between lane closures within the same areas. Additional closures will occur at construction exits as needed to maintain safety and efficient traffic flow.

Monday, March 31, through Saturday, April 5, from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM

• The daily northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428

Monday, March 31, through Friday, April 4, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

• The daily northbound and southbound U-Turn lane at First St.
