CITY UPDATES

DOWNTOWN CELINA SHINES AT SECOND ANNUAL HOLIDAY MIXOLOGY EVENT

TThe second annual Christmas Craft Cocktails & Tastes of the Season event was held on Monday, December 8, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at Two29 on the Square. This exclusive, ticketed experience continues to serve as a signature component of the City’s month-long Countdown to Christmas celebration.

The evening successfully brought together community members and several Downtown Celina dining establishments - Heyday, The Wick, Toasted Walnut Table & Market, Papa Gallos, Mangiamo, and Granny’s Bakery - for a curated showcase of seasonal culinary and mixology offerings.

Guests participated in a hands-on mixology session led by Heyday’s premier mixologist, Wilborn Blalock, learning to craft three distinctive holiday cocktails. Complementing these demonstrations, partner restaurants provided a selection of seasonal tastes throughout the event. Live musical performances by Dalton Elliott and Ally Sealey further enhanced the festive atmosphere.

Attendees concluded the evening with a commemorative gift bag containing professional mixology tools, including a yarai, strainer, and mixing spoon, along with a custom Downtown Celina glass, designed to encourage continued engagement with the featured recipes. This event not only elevated the holiday experience for residents and visitors but also delivered meaningful exposure and support for our Downtown businesses, reinforcing their integral role in the success of our ongoing celebrations.

CELINA PUBLIC LIBRARY APPROVED FOR TEXSHARE PROGRAM

The City is pleased to report that the Celina Public Library has been approved by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to join the TexShare Library Card Program.

This partnership represents a meaningful enhancement to the services available to our community. Beginning January 15, 2026, all current Celina Public Library cardholders will be eligible to obtain a TexShare card, providing access to resources and services at nearly 500 participating libraries across the State of Texas. This expanded network significantly increases the value and reach of a Celina library card, offering residents a broader range of materials, research tools, and learning opportunities.

This advancement reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to improving educational resources and expanding access for all residents.

TRAFFIC PATTERN SHIFT SCHEDULED FOR PUNK CARTER PKWY AND PRESTON RD

A temporary traffic pattern shift will be implemented at the intersection of Punk Carter Pkwy and Preston Rd to support ongoing construction of the new turn lane. As part of this work, the concrete within the intersection will

be fully replaced. To maintain access for residents entering and exiting the neighborhood, the construction will be completed in two phases, with one half of the intersection addressed at a time.

During the first phase, both eastbound and westbound traffic will be shifted to the two westbound lanes beginning at Appaloosa Lane. As a result, the two eastbound lanes of Punk Carter Pkwy from Appaloosa Lane to Preston Rd will be closed. Once the southern half of the Preston Rd intersection is completed, traffic will transition to the two eastbound lanes, allowing the westbound lanes to be closed for completion of the remaining work.

This work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, December 18, 2025, and is expected to continue for approximately six weeks, weather permitting. The project timeline includes full intersection reconstruction and final striping.

CITY CELEBRATES GRADUATION OF CITIZENS’ POLICE ACADEMY CLASS #8

The City is pleased to recognize the graduation of the Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) Class #8. This dedicated cohort of residents successfully completed the comprehensive program, gaining deeper insight into the operations of the Celina Police Department, public safety protocols, and the essential role of community engagement in a rapidly growing city.

With their graduation, these participants join the Police Department’s extended network of volunteers who assist at City events and support key departmental initiatives. Their involvement strengthens the critical partnership between the Police Department and the community it serves.

The Celina Police Department commends the members of Class #8 for their enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to contribute to the safety and success of our City, and looks forward to the positive impact they will continue to make.

DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Efforts will be made to ensure that lane closures are coordinated to prevent conflicts within overlapping work zones.

Monday, December 15, through Saturday, December 20:

• The northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
