CITY UPDATES

UPDATE ON STAGE 2 OF THE DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN

Since the City implemented Stage 2 of our Drought Contingency Plan, we have achieved significant progress in reducing landscape irrigation, resulting in an average daily water savings of over 800,000 gallons for our community. This collective effort underscores the community’s dedication to making a meaningful impact. Over the past week, the number of violations has fluctuated, ranging from a low of 120 to a peak of 663, with a daily average of 319, reflecting the ongoing efforts and commitment of our residents.

OCP PLAYGROUND HAS BEEN RELOCATED AND IS NOW OPEN TO PUBLIC

This week, the relocated playground equipment at Old Celina Park has been opened to the public. The equipment was moved from the site designated for our upcoming OCP Playground, which will be situated on the south side of the park. The playground is now conveniently positioned at the south end of the parking lot. We are eager to welcome the community back to enjoy this space. The new playground at Old Celina Park is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2025.

DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

For the ongoing work on the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) Phase 4A Project, contractors will implement lane closures next week. These closures will facilitate the transport of topsoil, a mass haul of materials, and the cleaning of the area. It is important to note that the entire left lanes will not be closed, and closures will only occur at the construction exits as necessary. NTTA has approved these closures on the condition that they are used solely for hauling purposes and that the Dallas Parkway is kept clean at all times. Crews will not be working on Labor Day, Monday, September 2.

Monday, September 3, through Saturday, September 7, from 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM

• Northbound and southbound left lanes of Dallas Parkway from First Street to FM 428

POLICE DEPARTMENT WELCOMES DARTH TO THE COMMUNITY

This week, the Police Department introduced Darth, our new K9, to the community. Darth was sponsored by the non-profit organization K9s for Warriors, which trains K9s to provide emotional support for first responders. A two-year-old Lab mix, Darth is specifically trained to assist our team members dealing with ongoing stress and trauma experienced in the line of duty. We are grateful for this valuable addition to our department.

POLICE & FIRE DEPARTMENTS PARTICIPATE IN TRAINING WITH F1RST

This week, our Police and Fire Departments participated in a three-day training with F1RST (First Responder Stress & Trauma), an organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being of first responders and their families. F1RST’s comprehensive, evidence-based training and therapeutic programming equip our teams with the tools they need to manage stress and trauma effectively, ultimately improving their mental and physical resilience.

F1RST’s multidisciplinary team includes a first responder psychologist, mental health providers, physical and

manual therapists, human performance and cognitive specialists, an exercise physiologist, a research team, and a registered dietitian. This diverse expertise ensures that our personnel receive holistic support, enabling them to perform at their best and maintain their well-being in the demanding roles they serve.
